Icon Heroes Staction Discussion

Now that Bandai is coming out with full on 4 and 8 Inch figures, who's still into these?

Worth doing both? That Lion O in the Thunderclaw looks pretty hot if it ever comes out.

I think Icon-Heroes had a great idea, but now it's kinda not needed.

I mean, staction figures for MOTU were because that's all we could get at that point. Better that than nothing. Now, we're getting classic and new, plus the more show accurate Hard Hero statues and the crazy feral mixed media Lion-O coming, I don't see where it fits in anymore.

They're great though. I've had both versions of Lion-O in my BBTS pile of loot for a while now.

Yeah, hopefully they continue because that scale is a little more reasonable for shelf space and budget compared to the larger Hard Hero and PCS ones.

That's true. I forget about price point. I just wish Lion-O had some intensity in his face. Jackalman and especially Jaga look good but why does Lion-O gotta look like he's waiting for an elevator?

Here's some pics of my Icon Heroes Lion-O. I haven't yet opened my SDCC version, but it is supposed to be the same but with the retracted sword of omens.

Immediately, I was disappointed. As you can see in photo 5, his scabbard claw came without a claw. With the paint covering the nub, its clear it didn't just break off. No quality control at the factory I gather.

At any rate, its very ordinary and his face as I've earlier mentioned doesn't look like Lion-O. The iconic hair, frame, and outfit do, but the face seems off to me.

The base is nice, heavy, and has grassy detail including a small slithering snake.

He has metal pegs in his feet that slide easily into two holes in the base. Perhaps too easily. He can rock back in forth if touched.

The sword comes separate and slides into a hole in his hand from the post in the sword (pictured). The eye of thundera is replaced with the thundercats logo.

Also, the paint apps on the logo are horrible. I took snapshots of both sides of the sword.

I will do pics of the SDCC version when I get a moment and perhaps this is just an unfortunate one that snuck out of the factory. But with it being number 52 of 1,500, you'd think they'd be watching the first few as they're made.

And the SDCC edition. The base is desert sand, which though devoid of detail, is nice that its not the same as the regular edition. The short sword came already in his hand as I gather there was no threat of it snapping off like the extended blade would have. The Eye of Thundera is displayed in the hilt.

The paint apps are cleaner here and the claw scabbard intact. Beside that, it's the same as the regular edition.

Does anyone know what the duedates for Jaga and Jackalman are?

nitewing73 01-18-2012 02:36 PM

How much are these? I may pick one up if he's a reasonable price.

He looks Asian.
