Nice pics, cant wait to see more!

It's nice, but the weathering/wash on him is a bit too much for me. The regular release looks better to me, and will be much easier to get a-hold of. Though I have a feeling I'll probably get the 4" modern Lion-O first, and probably won't get the Classic figures till later this year (hopefully they stay on store pegs long enough for me to get them).

I agree. I like the chrome on this, metallic paint. Hate the weathering detailing. Looks dirty, like a little kid drew on it with an old sharpie. May try to give it a wipe down with rubbing alcohol.

Ravenxl7 07-28-2011 12:05 PM

Good luck with that. Personally, I wouldn't trust myself trying something like that. Though in more capable hands I could see it working well.

GREAT gallery! I actually really like the weathering, gives him a parchment sketch quality that I really like.

Yeah, loving this figure. Can't wait to get this and Tygra.

I missed out on getting the SDCC Lion-O on TRU.com...so I guess I'll just have to settle for getting the regular retail release. Although the chrome on the Sword of Omens and the stand looks pretty damn cool.

Tony_Bacala 07-28-2011 08:16 PM

Nice shots with the motu figs. I only have 1 and its not Heman or skeletor. Good to see them together like that.

Great shots of an awesome figure!

I actually think it's going to be sold in store as well. That's what the site says anyway. Also King Kahn, he looks EPIC next to He-Man and Skeletor!!!!!

From what I've been able to gather the SDCC Lion-O has the metallic paint job on the clothes, the shading paint on the muscles, chrome swords, & the stand. The regular retail release will be a flat paint on the clothes and the swords will just be a standard gray paint. There will also be no stand.

Man those are great pics. I can't wait to get mine in.

I'm on the fence about opening it though. I'm planning on getting the regular release to open.

Yep, you are correct. The regular release will be this one:

Honestly I prefer how Lion-O is painted on the general release. I love the chromed swords & the stand though.

Correct on most parts. From what I've seen the swords have more of a silvery paint on them, and the belt and claw shield appear to have at least some shiny-ness to them.

Also, and kinda off-topic, but why were the two Thundercats toys sections merged? Not complaining, just curious.

Well, the original idea was to have one for 80s discussion, and one for modern discussion. But that then gets mucked up when we toss in Classics. Some people were using the modern forum, and some were using the classic forum. Since there isn't that much pure 80s toys discussion going on anyway, I figured we can function with one toy sub forum for now. If the site grows and discussion of both increases, we can re-split later.

Same thing was done with front page news. It's now just "Thundercats Toys".

Ok, thanks for the response. That's pretty much what I was thinking, but I didn't want to assume. I can easily imagine the site growing to the point where splitting them back-up would make sense.

Anybody got one of these to spare?
