One thing I believe is since Lion-O is the main Thundercat we're kinda supposed to be seeing and experiencing things from his point of view. Personally I think that's what the writers were trying to accomplish. Lion-O saw Cheetara's support and advice as flirting so that's how we "saw" it too. As if we were watching those scenes through his eyes so to speak.
