Marvel decided in their infinite wisdom, to have Peter make a deal with Mephisto(the marvel equivalent of the devil) to save his aunts life, by selling Mephisto his marriage, and wiping it from continuity. So basically 20 years of continuity is now wrecked, because some editors at marvel wanted Peter to be single.
