It would’ve made better sense to me if they would’ve wrote. that at the end the four trials were just a smokescreen. that he was always set up to fail them, the actual test was him willingly giving up his soul for the others….so in the end they gave him back his life for passing the unseen test…but that’s just me trying to fix things in my head.
Isn't that what Jaga said? That the trials tested not only his skills but his heart as well, and when he was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to save his friends he passed.
