Actually, looking back it was Lion-O himself who defined his new relationship with Cheetara in Episode 14 during that little talk they shared. I don't remember the exact quote, but wasn't it "it changes everything"?

Well, it did. Nothing was the same between them after that point. Cheetara withdrew herself from her role as his advisor. It looked like he was mending that fence (CoR) but never got around to actually inviting her counsel again.

It was such an epic ending with all the animals together. Of course it would take such a catastrophe to accomplish that, but it finally happened.
