“Q: Would I be right in saying the movie comics are currently done until what happens next with the franchise is decided?
A: I can’t confirm or deny anything right now. I’m just not sure what we’re going to do about moving forward. Its one of the things on the agenda I have to talk about when I get to IDW. We’ll see where everything stands and figure it out from there.
Q: After planning and plotting through three major, and well-received movie-verse comic series - how would you describe your Transformers perspective/history/vision to fans that might not know much about you, other than your work?
A: The thing I wanted to do going into the movie-verse was respect it and what had gone on before, and also tell stories I felt people would want to pick up. You know, if they had never seen a comic or maybe they’d come out of the movie theatre and they wanted some more. As much as the continuity stuff played a role in it—and as big a length as I went to not contradict or retcon anything—to me, the main thing was that you could pick up Foundation or Rising Storm and get a whole new set of adventures with these characters. You know, sometimes you see these movie tie-ins, and I’m not speaking of the Transformers ones, I mean historically throughout the history of comic books, and the worst ones for me are those that focus in on one specific continuity issue, or thread, that someone really wouldn’t care about. You should be able to enjoy these without necessarily knowing what came before.”
