Maybe Lion-O goes into the book to try to get away from everyone and he sees what happened when the animals didn't trust one another and they didn't work together, so he comes back out with a new resolve to not let that happen to the Thundercats.

I was a bit more serious when i said maybe the spirit stone is what would reanimate the missing chapters of the book
