I think Tygra had a crush on her from afar (his first crush), but I think he, like Lion-O, only really fell for her when they started their quest. I think he would've gotten over it eventually if she had chosen Lion-O in episode 13.

As for the book accepting Lion-O when he's doubting himself, I absolutely think it would. He wasn't exactly the epitome of confidence in episode 7. Plus Jaga was using it as a teaching tool. If he's already confident and able I don't think he would need the teaching as much.
