During Tokyo Toy Show, part of the package for DA28 DX Optimus Prime, which we now know as Striker Optimus Prime, was inadvertently photographed. The truck mode image is reminiscent of Optimus' Stealth Force mode from the recently released game and presumably seen in the movie. Up until now a mainline transforming Optimus Prime figure with stealth mode(as in one with a robot mode) has been absent. Could this have been one of the figures present at Botcon 2011 but withheld from being shown?
There's more to this case. Amiblo mentioned in one of their reports, that DA28 Striker Optimus Prime is a triple changer product. We take it this takes into account the stealth mode, possibly formed by the new gun and shield. An image of the prototype has been shown by way of CYBERGUNDAM BLOG. This figure, as far as we know, has not been labeled as a Japanese exclusive, yet. With that said, is Striker Optimus Prime a figure you would like to see stateside? It is a retooled leader class figure. Like Jetwing Optimus Prime, it uses a retooled Revenge Of The Fallen Leader Optimus Prime as a base, however this one seems to retain the swords. This is also the 1st figure to feature the blaster that Prime is often seen wielding in the various movie posters/ads within recent months, and only one to come with a shield. |

A quick bit of news for the Henkei fans next. Henkei Hot Rodimus - a highly in demand item even before the Protector armor was released - has been announced for a new run in September 2011. Like Hound and others before him, this is not a new release but a fresh run on the toy in case you missed out on him previously. Check out our sponsors for preorders of this piece - if you do not own one already you might kick yourself later given the usual aftermarket value of this toy!

A mysterious image has made its way to us - you can see it at left. All it says is "Coming Soon - Firemaster - Keep Animation Alive". The cryptic message refers to Transformers Animated, and the silhouette is a trace of the image of Animated Powermaster Optimus Prime as shown in the Allspark Almanac. According to 2005 Boards member Encline this may or may not be the same group responsible for the similar teaser of an Animated Menasor upgrade kit. Watch this space for more information as it becomes available.

While we saw official pictures of the Bumblebee and Megatron set a while ago (images can be seen in our Resources section - shameless plug), we've never seen official photography of this pair - until now. This figure should prove to be popular among fans due to him being a main player in IDW's "Last Stand Of The Wreckers" comic series. Not to mention, it's a fantastic looking update to the G1 toy. Is this Hasbro's first attempt at sneaking a "Classics" figure into the Dark Of The Moon toyline? You decide! Follow the discussion link below to get a sneak peak at Guzzle's transformation! |

A potential repaint of the Cyberverse Sentinel Prime mold has been found via Hasbro's PDF Instruction Archive. Named "Dark Sentinel Prime", could this be a black repaint of the mold? Considering the PDF files are in grayscale, the exact color scheme is unknown at this time. We'll keep you posted here at TFW2005 for when that news breaks but until it does, feel free to speculate away in the discussion thread!

News continues to slowly trickle in for Kaiyodo's upcoming Sci-Fi Revoltech Movie Optimus Prime. Another prototype image has been released, showing off some of the toy's accessories.
Aside from having his swords that were shown in previous toy show photos and official images, Optimus Prime seems to come with five gun parts with Revoltech joints that allow for customization/variation of weapon loadouts for this toy. Another tidbit revealed in the same article seems to be that the sword also uses a Revoltech peg to plug into the arm, taking the place of a hand. |

This highly anticipated release converts from jet to beast mode, and is also evidently in Transformers Dark of the Moon - though potentially with a different alternate mode. He was spotted at a New York KMart by 2005 Boards member Nuubu. Although not reported, we are also assuming this means that his wavemate, Battle Steel Optimus Prime is also out in the wild.

Jim Shooter has posted a new article on his blog focusing on the secret origin of The Transformers. Did you know that another company aside from Hasbro was planning to bring over a line of Japanese transforming robots under the name Mysterions? This company was named Knickerbocker Toys.
Initially Knickerbocker Toys went to DC Comics to make a Mysterions comic. Then they went to Marvel Comics. Here's an interesting excerpt from the article, documenting Hasbro's involvement: The next day we learned that, just before our meeting, Hasbro had announced that it was acquiring Knickerbocker. Shakeup, indeed. The deal with Knickerbocker fell victim to the takeover by Hasbro. The Hollywood term for similar events is “turnaround.” Projects begun by previous administrations are automatically put into turnaround, that is, on hold—usually permanently. Here endeth the story of the Mysterions. That’s a good break point, but I promised some of the TRANSFORMERS tale, not just the prequel, so I’ll press on for a while. Some months later, the Hasbro exec who was Marvel’s main contact, Bob Prupis, came to my office. He pulled a few toy vehicles out of his bag and proceeded to open and unfold them into ROBOTS. They were bigger and much more complex than the Mysterions. Different Japanese technology, same general idea. Hasbro, he said, had the rights to the technology and toys based upon it. The problem, he said was story. He said that the Japanese storyline associated with the toys wasn’t useful. Japanese kids, apparently, don’t require much justification. Cars become robots, robots become cars. Well, of course they do. What do you mean, “why?” Read more after the jump! |

Showing off both the pre-panted kits of the Optimus Prime and Bumblebee from the line, the gallery also shows off the sprues for this model kit; the most surprising of which being the clear and pre-chromed parts for the Optimus Prime kit. |

Some new information has circulated from Japanese retailers regarding various new items coming from Takara-Tomy. Four more Alternity releases are confirmed from August through December - all four molds are getting new versions, not just the two reported previously. The four will be:
Nissan GTR / Dai Atlas - August Nissan Fairlady Z / Galvatron - September Mitsuoka Orochi / Banzai Tron - November Suzuki Swift / Goldbug - December No confirmation yet as to whether these will be straight up recolors, or if they will feature new heads. But what an interesting selection of characters - Alternity Galvatron presents the terrifying concept, story-wise, of what would happen if you powered up an already obscenely powerful Megatron? Also confirmed first of all are reports of a black version of Masterpiece Rodimus Convoy, and reissues of Soundblaster and Twincast. Also listed are a new release for Disney Label Micky Mouse, and an Xmas edition Mickey Mouse. The black version of Jetwing Optimus Prime is also evidently still on the cards and slated for an October release. This information comes to you via Meister79 of the Allspark. |

The Autobots, Jack and Miko find themselves trapped inside a cave. I'm sure the drama of the episode will come when they discover, they're not alone in that cave, but that's speculation on my part. |

With less than a week to go before launch, the Transformers Dark of the Moon hype machine is in full motion. This billboard - which has elements lifted above its surface for a 3D effect - has gone up along the westbound M4 Motorway in London UK. It's a very cool - and huge - bit of advertising for Dark of the Moon. Check it out and enjoy!

New third party group Maketoy (whose work was previously confused with that of Fansproject) have launched a website to show off their unofficial custom Transformers projects. On the website are new color images of their not-Powerglide and not-Seaspray, and some concepts for their Generation 2 Laser Optimus Prime upgrade. But most interesting of all is a sketch at the bottom of the page, indicating we might have an alternative to the $100 a piece TFC Toys Hercules Devastator in the works...

Mark Cuban the owner of Dallas Mavericks had the pleasure of signing Optimus Prime into his team. Enjoy this ESPN-Transformers: Dark of the Moon Cross Promotion Commercial. The team may need a bigger bus though…
Mr. Cuban recently tweeted and said... "Had a great time shooting the Transformers 3 spot ! Can't wait to see the movie. Let me know what u think of the spot #TF3" |
