The statue even uses the similar styling Mark VI chest. Check out the thread for more shots of the final version, and if you want to see how this amazing piece of work progressed from the beginning, sinigang had kept Toyark posted by the use of a Customs WIP thread which you can view here.

Hey, DC Fans! Thanks to our faithful friends over at The Fwoosh, we have a nice, in-depth look at the first 3 figures in DC Universe Classics Wave 19 (The second last retail wave).
The 3 figures we'll be looking at include: The Atom (Al Pratt) Sandman (Wesley Dodds) Stargirl (Courtney Whitmore) For starters, we have JSA member Al Pratt, AKA The Atom. Rendered faithfully to his comic counterpart, this figure features lots of nice, bright colors. He is made up of some existing DCUC parts, but sports new shins due to his short stature. The Atom is smaller than the standard DCUC figure, which works though, since, in the comics, he's only about 5-feet high. He features standard DCUC articulation and comes with no accessories, other than the head and lower torso of S.T.R.I.P.E. Next on the list is Sandman (Wesley Dodds). He is the one figure I was most excited to be getting in this wave once it was unvailed thanks to MTV Geek (Lord Naga and Stargirl round out my top 3 of the line). I've wanted a figure of Dodds forever and now the wait is finally over! He's made up of parts from DCUC Wave 11 The Question, but sports a new jacket and tie and also comes with his gas mask and gas gun. The paint is great and he has a nice Golden Age look to him. The Four Horsemen even gave him a hook on his jacket so he can hang his gun. Got to love details like that! Finally today, we round out our in-depth look with Stargirl (Courtney Whitmore). I have to agree with The Fwoosh when I say Stargirl is my favorite female character to come along in a while, at least since Wave 9 Black Canary. She sports a metallic paint job on her cosutme and you've got to just love the look on her face! She has her requisite Star Rod that she borrows from the Jack Knight figure, but this time it is cast in a translucent plastic, almost like it is charged-up. She also comes with S.T.R.I.P.E.'s left arm. Well there you have it, our first in-depth look at DC Universe Classics Wave 19. Hopefully we'll be getting shots of Lord Naga, Hawkman and Magog soon. Stay tuned and if you haven't already, subscribe to Mattel's DCUC Club Infinate Earth's today! http://www.mattycollector.com/DRHM/s...ctID=233873400... [Read More] |

Kotobukiya's Facebook Page has added some new photos of their upcoming Bishoujo X-23 statue.
A Kotobukiya Japanese import! The popular Marvel Bishoujo collection (combining iconic superheroines and villains with traditional Japanese stylings) continues to bring you the amazing beauties of the Marvel Comics universe as you’ve never seen them before. The line returns to heroic mutants with the beautiful and lethal X-23! Appearing first in the television series X-Men: Evolution in 2003, X-23 was later introduced to the Marvel Comics universe. She is no less than a female clone of Wolverine, created to be a deadly weapon and outfitted with adamantium-coated claws in her hands and feet! After discovering her true identity and joining the good guys, Laura became a key member of X-Force before setting out on her own. X-23 appears here in the Japanese Bishoujo (pretty girl) style based on an original character reinterpretation by renowned illustrator Shunya Yamashita. Tempering her deadliness with a smile on her face and a relaxed pose, X-23 is still ready for anything. She crouches on one knee, ever alert for danger with her weapons extended; her wicked adamantium claws are quite eye-catching on both hands and her right foot. Outside of combat, Laura wears a striking outfit consisting of a halter top, stylish ripped arm coverings, pants, and boots, all in black. Highly detailed sculpting brings out the intricacies of X-23’s banded and laced boots, her unique linked-ring belt, and medallion necklace. Contrasting with her ebony clothing is the mutant’s beautiful skin, and bright green and gold accents adorn her belt, necklace, and eyes. X-23’s wind-blown hair adds subtle movement to the scene, all of which brings focus to her beautiful Bishoujo styled face. X-23 is 6 inches tall (in the Marvel Bishoujo 1/7th scale) crouched on her exclusive terrain base. Hunt down this beautiful mutant before she hunts you! Available March 2012. Art Asylum has announced a new series of figures based on The Munsters.
The Universal Monsters have given us a lot of scares over the years… but they’ve also given us a lot of laughs! And not just chasing Abbott and Costello on the big screen, either, but on TV as well. For decades, the world has enjoyed the suburban antics of the Munster family, composed of two Draculas, a Frankenstein and a wolf-boy, and now Diamond Select Toys is proud to bring you the finest action figures of the Munsters ever made. Done in our famous 7-inch scale, Herman, Lily and Grandpa will look right at home alongside your other Universal Monsters, and each will be available in two different versions: one version at Toys R Us with their signature accessories (listed below), and a Select version at specialty stores that comes with a bonus accessory — a piece of the family electric chair! Collect all three Select versions to build it! Look for both versions in October, and check out solo pictures below! Herman Munster Clocking in at 350 pounds and 7 feet 3 inches tall, Herman Munster was built in 1850 by Dr. Victor Frankenstein, but is nothing like Frankenstein’s monster of legend. A good-natured, soft-spoken funeral home employee, Herman is a World War II veteran, a good husband to his vampire wife Lilly and a loving father to his werewolf son Eddie. This 7-inch scale figure perfectly captures the likeness of actor Fred Gwynne, and also comes with Herman’s massive lunchbox. Lily Munster Born Lily Dracula of Transylvania, the matriarch of the Munster family is the daughter of a vampire, but werewolf blood also runs in her family, as both her brother and her son bear the curse. Loving dust and decay, she keeps the Munster household nice and messy, and is also an adoptive mother and confidante to her niece Marilyn. This 7-inch scale figure is a perfect likeness of Yvonne DeCarlo and comes with the Munsters’ raven-inhabited cuckoo/grandfather clock. Grandpa Munster Sam Dracula, the famous Count Dracula of legend, was married 166 times, and even though his wives are all dead, he still keeps in touch. Over 600 years old, he personally knew King Arthur and Jack the Ripper, and can still turn into a wolf or a bat, if he takes his pills. Played by Al Lewis, Sam is also a persistent inventor, having modified his own coffin into a race car, and this 7-inch scale figure comes with his laboratory table, as well as his pet bat Igor. Some images can be seen by clicking the headline of the story.... [Read More] |

It's Friday night, Thundercats just aired, and it's time for another "Random Photo Shoot" here at Toyark.com. This is where we do up a photo gallery of a figure, for no reason other than we had it and wanted to.
Not new by fellow collector's standards, as we've seen him since late last year, but Marvel Universe Apocalypse is yet another one of those awesome figs that just deserve some camera lovin'. Personally I am not that into the character, but as a figure, he's big and bulky and awesome, plus rocks some TFW2005 style colors, so he's officially on the shelf here at Toyark HQ. Check out about 30 high res pics of MU Apocalypse after the break!... [Read More] |

Spawn.com has posted a neat little video. Toy maker Todd McFarlane and The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman got together to discuss the upcoming toys based on The Walking Dead.
Todd McFarlane ran into his old buddy Robert Kirkman, mastermind of The Walking Dead comic book series, at San Diego Comic-con last month. Todd couldn’t wait to show him the latest figures McFarlane Toys had created for The Walking Dead, and boy was Robert surprised. Take a look… You know you’ve nailed “The Walking Dead” comic series figure line when the comic’s creator calls the zombie play action, “Excessive!” Clearly he meant it in the best possible way. The Walking Dead Comic Series 1 figure lineup includes some of the most iconic characters from the book – Officer Rick Grimes and Michonne, along with some Dead-ly zombie counterparts. This line is perfect for those who can appreciate the smaller things in life…like exploding heads and removable limbs. And for the first time, check out the first shots of The Walking Dead packaging HERE! These The Walking Dead figures start wandering on to shelves September 2011 at your neighborhood Toys "R" Us, Barnes & Noble, Hastings Entertainment, and comic book stores. Blood, gore, and fun is just around the corner...But be careful, these zombies are hungry!!! The Walking Dead comic book series tells the story of the months and years that come after a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by Officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home. ... [Read More] |

Thanks to our friends over at TheFwoosh, we have a really nice, in-depth look at the up-coming Matty Collector exclusive Legion of Superheroes 12 pack. Slated for release this October, it is the largest DCUC set we've gotten to date and features 12 of the Legions most memorable members.
Included in this beautifully boxed set are: Superboy: This is the first time we've gotten a younger version of Kal-El and Mattel's version looks really good. He sports the lighter blue, shorter capped costume seen in the comics and his sculpt captures his persona well. Love the grin and sculpted ring as well! Cosmic Boy: There was no doubt Cosmic Boy was going to be in this set, everyone knew he would be. From Mattel to the fan's, we all expected it. He sports his iconic pink and black costume and a cosmic ring sculpted onto his hand. Saturn Girl: Another member we knew would be in the set, she is the packs sole female member and uses parts borrowed from the standard DCUC female body and sports a flexable short skirt. Lightening Lad: Again, we knew he was going to be included. He features great, yet slightly subdued colors on his costume and the lightening bolts are nice and crisp. Also, who doesn't love that '77 haircut? Guess it came back into style at some point between than and the 31st century. [B]Brainiac-5[/B]: This has to be one of my most favorite pieces in the set. His green skin, purple jump suit and blonde hair all look great together and I love the addition of folds and creases in his costume and that kindly facial expression. Chameleon Boy: This has to be the oddest looking member in the set. Love the 50's B-movie look to him though, and the yellow and lavender colored costume is so off the wall, it can't not be cool. Karate Kid: His gigantic popped collar attached to his gi, which is made of nice, soft plastic and he sports double-jointed elbows, something that is unique to this figure in the set. Ultra Boy: Another favorite in the set, I love the red and green color scheme on the costume. Also sports a sculpted ring and boot fringes as well as some awesome sideburns. Timber Wolf: This guy is all kinds of cool. Love the whited out eyes and the orange and black costume with the silver wolf logo in the centre of his chest. This is the Timber Wolf version they should've gone with, as he's had a few, sometimes slightly odd, incarnations over the years, but this is best, in my opinion. Wildfire: How cool is Wildfire? Orange and Red make for an awesome color scheme on his costume and I just love that visage-hiding mask. Invisible Kid: Basically included in the set to balance the packages symmetry I figure. Matter Eater Lad: Not only does he have a really cool name for a superhero, but he also sports a mouth full of matter and fingerless gloves, so on those two marits alone, this piece is an awesome inclusion in the set. Colossal Boy: Made up from parts used on C&C Wave 7 Atom Smasher, Colossal Boy is all kinds of awesome! Love the red and blue costume color scheme. It has a metallic sheen to it and is both simple and very eye-catching. A great oversized figure and addition to the overall set. So, to sum things up, this set is all kinds of awesome! The 12 LOSH members included, as well as the extras thrown in (A 24-karat gold plated LOSH flight ring and an interesting Proty figure) make this a must own set for DCUC and LOSH fans alike! It's the biggest set we've gotten thus far and really delivers on all fronts! Don't pass this one up! Thanks to TheFwoosh for all the awesome attached shots!... [Read More] |

Today's Discussion Point takes a look back at many of our pasts, so this one will be chock full of nostalgia with a chewy retro center. We are looking back at the old toy stores and toy aisles of the 80's! Many of our favorite properties here on Toyark saw quite a boom of merchandising in the 80's, even further some of those properties got their start in the 80's!
There are many of us here on Toyark who lived through the 80's and look back on those times fondly, and remember the amazing toy aisles that could be found in just about any store, whether it be a dedicated toy store like Toys R US and Children's Palace, or if you did your toy perusing in a department store like Hills, Gold Circle, Service Merchandise, The Fair, or many others. What we have for you today is a collection of images of these wonderful toy aisles that have been long forgotten, and ask you to come in and take part in this discussion. Share your fondest memories from these days with us, remember some of the amazing product that was left behind in the Reagan years, and if you have them please share your photos with us! If you have any toy aisle photos from the 80's, make sure to add them in the thread for us all to see and share some sentimental tears.... [Read More] |

MattyCollector's Facebook Page has been updated with an interview about the inspirations behind the design for Battleground Evil Lyn. they talked with Four Horsemen and Terry Higuchi from Mattel Design.
He-Fans and She-Ravers, Ever since we announced the new version of Evil Lyn coming out this fall, their has been a lot of questions over her design and look. To understand this better we went straight to the mouth – the Four Horsemen’s mouth that is. We talked with them and Terry Higuchi from Mattel design to understand the inspiration for this new version of Evil Lyn. TERRY: Part of the feel and look of the vintage MOTU line has always been the strategic use of shared parts (Stinkor and Mer-Man anyone?). To help capture that feel in MOTUC, we very deliberately use shared parts in MOTUC even when sometimes a new part could be called for. Bow and Optikk are both great example of this. It is part of the look and feel of the brand. FOUR HORSEMEN: When designing Battleground Evil Lyn, we used a combination of new parts (new head, cape) along with thought-out reuse parts (tunic, Catra hand) to capture the charm and nostalgia that reuse parts evoke uniquely with MOTU. While we are always trying to go the extra mile for fans, sometimes our efforts do not jive with what the fan base is looking for (She-Ra 1.0's mask attachment, Space Explorer Marlena in Green are good examples). Fans have also asked why the new 2.0 female buck was not used for Evil Lyn. At the time this figure was being sculpted the 2.0 body was not developed yet. We knew that it was coming, but it didn't exist for us to work off of. With this in mind we felt that it would be better to go with this simpler version rather than sink a lot of tooling into a version that didn't have waist articulation, better hip function, etc. If we used up the tooling now, it may have killed the chance to do a version that 100% satisfies all of the fan requests. Now that the 2.0 body has been created and worked into the line, the door is open to do this version in the future. TERRY: Clearly fans are looking for more new parts on a grey skinned Evil Lyn. We will certainly take this into account when looking at future variants of the evil warrior goddess. There are lots of ways we can update her down the road and just as we did a She-Ra 2.0 and multiple versions of He-Man, Evil Lyn is clearly a popular enough character to warrant multiple versions. While we do not have another version of Evil Lyn on the books anytime in the immediate future, don't count her down for the count. She could very well be back when you least expect it! Battleground Evil Lyn, available November 2011 only on Mattycollector.com (note she will have turning articulated wrist guards, an additional helmet-less head and a second swapable orb piece for her staff that glows in the dark!) ------ Hope that cleared up some design choices and we can't wait to see what the Horsemen are working on next! See you all at Power Con on Sept 24th and 25th! Matty... [Read More] |

Our ever loyal friends over at Yakface.com have kindly passed on shots of the next entry into the latest wave of Clone Wars action figures - R7-D4. Plo Koon's Astromech droid from the show, this figure is essentially a straight-up repaint of every other Clone Wars Astromech droid we've gotten since the beginning and, in my opinion, is only good to fill a space in Plo Koon's starfighter.

Rogue is now a Premium Format Figure and by an X-citing coincidence, she is also up for pre-order. Rogue features a real fabric costume based on Jim Lee’s design. This member of the Uncanny X-Men is expected to ship in October 2011. You can watch the Rogue Teaser Video after the jump. Also joining the ranks of pre-orders is the X-Men’s Psylocke. Psylocke was created in approximately 1:4 scale, and her costume is made from fabric. This item is expected to ship in the first quarter of 2012. We previously reported on the Sue Storm Comiquette. Just a reminder that she is limited to only 375 pieces, so pre-order this item before she disappears (pun intended)!... [Read More] |
