TFcon is happy to welcome back Dan Khanna to the 2011 convention. Having penciled a number of Transformers convention books dating back to 2001, he has worked on everything from statue design for Hard Hero, to Transformers T-Shirts, commemorative plates, pin-ups, and art on many of the Transformers toy boxes for Hasbro. Dan will be setup in the artist alley all weekend sketching and signing for the attendees of TFcon.
TFcon features Canada's largest dealer room for Transformers merchandise, question and answer panels and autograph sessions with many special guests including Transformers writer Simon Furman and Transformers voice actors Garry Chalk and Paul Eiding; artists Joe Ng, Alex Milne, Matt Moylan and Marvin Mariano, a costume and customs contest and fan discussion panels. TFcon - Canada's 10th Annual Transformers Collectors Convention is July 30th and 31st, 2011 at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre in Mississauga, Ontario with free parking. New in-hand images of Bathing Ape Optimus Prime have been posted over at ACToys by maxidea. This limited run cross-promotional Optimus Prime is a nice shade of green, with a camo trailer, and continues on the trend of Transformers X Brand kicked off by Music Label Convoy X Exile Perfect Year back in 2008.
Unfortunately there is also some bad news about this release - 2005 Boards member HighPrime reports that stocks of this piece were much more limited than expected (less than two dozen per store) - so limited that our sponsors Big Bad Toy Store are reducing preorders for customers who ordered multiples to one piece each, so as many fans can get this as possible. |

They were sighted at a Toys R Us in Olympia, WA by 2005 Boards member VicegripX.
Along with the Cyberverse sets, VicegripX spotted the Wave 3 Robo Fighters - Megatron and Roadbuster. These were also spotted earlier today at another TRU in WA, this time the Everett, WA TRU by 2005 Boards member ArchAngelz. EDIT: That's each, by the way. Prices aren't for bundles of their respective groups. |

As far as "More Than Meets The Eye" Josh Burcham will be not only doing the colors, but reuniting with his fellow Last Stand of the Wreckers alumni Nick Roche and James Roberts.

United States Patent And Trademark Office has updated the details of a previously known trademark; Transformers One.
Back then it was just classified as “Entertainment Services”. Now however it is further explained as… “Entertainment services, namely, the production and distribution of motion pictures; entertainment services, namely, ongoing television programs and an animated television series all in the field of children's entertainment” Also, the trademarks titled SPARK YOUR SUMMER, UNLOCK THE SECRETS and DESTINATION EARTH has now moved onto the status of “A first request for extension of time to file a Statement of Use has been granted”. This means we’ll actually hear about them pretty soon. This writer’s best guess – A DOTM movie toyline just like the Hunt For The Decepticons ROTF Sequel Line. While TFCon 2011 rapidly approaches, anticipation is building up even more with the upcoming Headrobots Stronghold exclusive! TFW2005.com's very own Radicons Customs got another exclusive look at this set with Radicon veteran Nemesis Predaking demonstrating step-by-step how to remove some of the paint deco to vastly improve upon the finished look of this already-impressive figure in the video below.
This TFCon Stronghold tutorial presents another great opportunity, as it continues to bolster the rapidly growing Tutorials Section of the Creative Forums. The Tutorials section contains over 500 tutorials for both Customs and Fan Art, with "How To" articles designed for skill levels ranging from the completely inexperienced to the most seasoned artist! Our Tutorials are even sequenced so that you can look for articles based on difficulty level and toyline by using our Creative Tutorials' Table of Contents. The Radicons, Fan Artists, and TFW2005.com Staff work very hard to continually provide the artistic community at large with these resources. Many of the fandom's most inspirational artists of today got their start in this very section! As a bit of a personal note, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the many members of TFW2005.com's Creative section for their continued contributions to the Tutorials Section, and a very special thanks to the TFW2005.com veterans Nemesis Predaking, plowking, ALPHAMAGNUS, and REDLINE for all of their contributions over the last few years for their hard work in this portion of the board. Your work is very much appreciated! |

After the Amazon reveal, the creators of Transformers Classified: Switching Gears teased the fans with some tidbits. Nothing too big, but enough to get an idea what we’ll get from the upcoming Novel.
First it was Transformers Artist Guido Guidi who confirmed the front cover character as ROTF Autobot Gears. Mr. Guidi then shared a tiny (yet valuable) piece of info with the TFW2005 Members… “Well, when working on the cover illustration I was told that this novel was set in the movie universe, in this case between ROTF and DOTM, if I remember correctly. BTW, Amazon posted the front cover only... since it was designed as a wraparound/jacket cover, there's other stuff going on in the back cover Hopefully I should get the permission from the publisher to post the full artwork.” Keep an eye out on Guido Guidi’s Official Deviantart Page and while you are there, enjoy his awesome artwork. Next it was Co-Writer Jason Fry who updated his Blog to say… "I don’t just write Star Wars, though — give me a story to tell and I’ll be happy. I co-wrote Transformers Classified: Switching Gears with my old friend Ryder Windham, and we had a blast. Look for it in October 2011." Both Jason Fry and Ryder Windham are excellent writers when it comes to expanding a movie storylines into spinoff series. They proved this by writing countless Star Wars tie-in novels. |

Also included is the patchwork done to replace movie-design Soundwave with the comics-approved movie Shockwave.” You can get more info at Glove Studios. Here's some fresh hot off the press news from TFCon! At the Hasbro booth, we confirmed that Transformers Prime "first edition" will release in November-December 2011. The full non first edition line will launch in March 2012. This will be the time that Transformers Dark of the Moon toys will move off shelves and completely switch over to Transformers Prime.
In other news, Transformers Dark of the Moon's product line is planned to completely be on shelves by the end of 2011. Mirage is not yet confirmed but I believe there's still a wave or two we've yet to see, based on what they were telling me. Stay tuned for more TFCon coverage - the Hasbro panel is up next, although I'm told it's the same as the SDCC one. Watch this space! |

A new Dark of the Moon toy has been released at US retail (sighted in San Antonio TX) and this time it's at TRU. The Cyberverse Cybertronian Warriors set has crept out without much announcement or fanfare. Mentioned at Botcon, this set consists of redecos of Bumblebee with the Mobile Command Bunker, Commander Ironhide, Crankcase and Ironhide. It is the set that has a little fun with the fact that one of the Bumblebee cars had an accident with a cop during the filming of Dark of the Moon. The price is reported to be a whopping $40 plus tax though making this one a pricey bit of Transformers fun to own.

Here now for your viewing pleasure are some images from the TFCon customs and art contest display. There were loads of great pieces on display and all are worthy of recognition but in particular some of the pieces that stuck out to me include:
- A Transformers Animated piece, based on the classic X-Men "Days of Future Past" cover. - Custom Animated Robots in Disguise Car Brothers - Animated Rodimus Primes - both of them - A Beast Wars Squirrel! - A very cool movieverse styled Laptop Transformer. - An awesome piece based on Ninjaka from Generation 1 Season 3. - Classics styled Omega Spreem! - Cybertronian mode Jazz But really and truly, all the entries were excellent this year, and it would be an injustice to only recognize these ones. Be sure to check out all the images attached to this post for some of the best art and custom work I've seen at a Transformers convention. Also by way of a special shoutout, attached to the end of this story are some images of a custom set not in the contest. They are the Wreckers, designed by the customizers of Cybertron.CA to be sold in a charity auction will all proceeds going to Fallen Heroes. Not only is this an example of some truly excellent workmanship and customizing, but it is also all for a very good cause. Be sure to check them out as well - they are the last images in this gallery. |

Last but by no means least in this gallery of images from TFCon are some images from the Hasbro booth. On show were some really cool items including Kre-O, Ultimate Optimus Prime, The Ark and Transformers Prime Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee and the Bumblebee Role Play Blaster. The role play blaster is a cool little toy, and I am sure kids (or adults like shibamura_prime) will love it. Yes, as you might remember from previous years, Hasbro Canada let guests come along and take a look at these awesome pre-release toys. I got a chance to mess with Prime Bumblebee, and he is an excellent toy with a cool and intuitive transformation who looks great in both modes.
