Here is something we thought was cool - in the Philippines, there are some packaging variants on Deluxe Transformers - they are packaged in robot mode! Could this variant packaging be setting a trend for the rest of the world like robot mode packaging for Voyagers, where Asian markets first debutted robot mode packaging as early as Transformers Animated before it really caught on with the latter waves of Revenge of the Fallen and Hunt for the Decepticons Voyagers. Could history be about to repeat itself?
Also revealed here by bny888 is a special value two pack of Optimus Prime and Megatron Voyagers including a bonus mug - it's the same packaging of the individual Voyagers, but they are mounted in a cardboard sleeve. It looks rather cool, with the logo and faction symbols on the front of the outer sleeve. Last but not least are some Transformers themed "Phlat Balls", balls that "transform" into frisbees by flattening them and revert to their original form when thrown. These Transformers edition ones come in yellow and black for Bumblebee and red and blue for Optimus. |

The official Botcon Twitter has been busy, sending out tweat after tweat on the 2012 set. The short version is that the mockups for the set are done and looking very good in the opinion of Fun Publications, that three of the toys in the set are seeing their first updates ever, and that for two, they have drawn on the "distant" past.
Plenty of material here to speculate on! What does it all mean? Two things we can tell you is that it's not Transformers Animated themed, and it's not Trailbreaker, Gears or Brawn - FunPub feels they are more deserving of the Hasbro Classics treatment, but that what they have in store is equally awesome! Last but by no means least, I'm sure a few of you are asking "well great, but where and when is Botcon 2012 being held?" Gogdog and Seth Buzzard asked the question and got the following reply: Oh, no, as SOON as we get everything finalized with the PTB and locked up we will announce. NOBODY wants the locale and date announced more than us. We are working on it every day... LOTS of factors involved. Read on to view the original text of all the tweats involved! |

September 8th, 2001 - This was the American debut of Robots in Disguise - the US dub of Japan's Car Robots series from the year before. And today marks 10 YEARS since that happened, to the day.
This series has been ignored, forgotten, and tossed to the side by the powers that be, but there are still fans of it, both the show and toys, out there. It was the transition between the Beast Era and the new Millennium, encompassing many things we take for granted today. Autobots and Decepticons for starters. Realistic vehicle modes. Repaints of old molds into new characters. The "reboot" of continuity, while keeping core elements. G1 redecos of toys with similar style. All while keeping the Beasts in play for a bit longer, to transition those late 90s kids to the return of the Autobots. There is a nice discussion of the series as a whole going on in relation to the 10 year anniversary here: R.I.D. 10th Anniversary - 2001-2011, feel free to join in and share your thoughts. TFW will be doing some more RID celebrating before the year is out, so stay tuned! Oh, and one more thing.... |

Notice the pivot in the middle for lateral ankle movement, and the new design for how the robot arms apparently tuck in.

iGear have revealed the latest of their Seekers. Having recently released their Sunstorm MP Seeker along with the coneheads, iGear have apparently now turned their attention to the three that have already been officially released by Takara, starting with Thundercracker. Lightning, as iGear are calling him, is an animation colors version of Thundercracker VS the realism of the officially released Masterpiece version, and also features the alternate leg configuration.
However as this piece is so directly infringing upon Hasbro and Takara's IP, moreso than any of the other pieces released to date, we would urge anyone looking for a Masterpiece Thundercracker to see out the real thing from Takara themselves. |

Hailing from the later waves of Generations, we have galleries of Generations Wave 7, which featured Wheeljack and Thundercracker! But that's not all. In a little thing called Transformers the Movie (which I'm told recently turned 25) Thundercracker was reborn as a new Decepticon named Scourge. He got a new toy in Generations Wave 6. HK-TF has shared some new pictures of the upcoming Cyberverse Legion Soundwave figure. These new pics are a good example of exactly how much detail they can cram into a tiny figure. Soundwave has a very detailed head sculpt as well as his "speaker"-esque weapons in his arms. There are also some comparison pictures with the 1st Legends Soundwave mold and the Commander Shockwave mold.
Check out all the pics after the jump |

A new Costco Exclusive 2-pack has been found at retail up north in Canada. 2005 Board member sideswipe88 reports finding this new 2 pack at retail in his area. This new 2-pack features Voyager Optimus Prime along a new "Cyber Metal Armour Shockwave". This Shockwave is the translucent version of the figure we've been seeing pop up.
No word yet on whether this 2-pack will find it's way down south to Costco or Target stores but we'll keep you up to date as more info comes in. For now, enjoy the images and join the discussion thread after the break! |

Facebook fan group Transformers Galaxy have posted a pair of images of the new redeco of Dark of the Moon Voyager Class Megatron from the Transformers Chronicle 02 two-pack. The Transformers Chronicle two packs pair reissues of the original Optimus Prime and Megatron toys with redecos of their new Dark of the Moon toys. The Megatron, as you can see from these pictures, looks nothing short of gorgeous, with a silver cannon, rust paint applications, silver bumper, and an overall premium level paint job.

Yes dear readers, you read that correctly. The "lost" assortment of Reveal the Shield Legends, which contained the likes of new Legends class versions of Optimus Prime, Starscream, "Gold" Bumblebee, Megatron, Prowl and Trailbreaker - now called Trailcutter - have been found at US retail. This time out they have appeared in discount chain store Tuesday Morning. Will they turn up in any other discount or small chain stores? We hope so! These Legends are some excellent little toys that are well worth checking out.

MTV recently had a chat with actor Shia LaBeouf (Sam Witwicky) of Michael Bay Transformers Live Action Movie Series and he had this to say…
"For me, I feel vindicated for having guilt on my shoulders for the second movie. There is vindication in this one being successful and people enjoying it." Speaking of Shia, we shouldn’t forget Megan Fox; ex-Transformers actress. She’s saying to the press that she will watch Transformers: Dark of the Moon. “I haven't seen it yet, but I will see it. I mean, if they hadn't been hitting me so hard on the press tour, I would have gone to the theater. But I felt like that would have been a disaster: Me sitting with a packed theater of people watching the movie. So I didn't go. I mean, I have nothing against watching it. And I love Shia to death; I love him unconditionally. And I love that crew. I'm really close to the hair, makeup and wardrobe that made that movie. I want to see it for them. I know it looked amazing in the trailer. Out of all three trailers, that was the trailer that I was like, "Wow, sh*t, this is a huge movie." So I think it will be an interesting, fun thing to watch, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.” |

Next up in the cavalcade of early Transformers scannage - Generation 1 Fortress Maximus. Fort Max is that legendary toy perched on many collector's grail lists - the biggest Transformer ever made, and with a secondary market pricetag to match. These scans chart the progression of Maximus through the design process, from the original concepts, to wooden prototypes, to the final prototypes. It's an excellent example of the creative process every Transformer goes through, doubly interesting for showing how that process worked in 1987, and even more interesting because this isn't any Transformer's creative process, but the biggest one ever made. So check them out and enjoy.
