Karl Hartman, one of the original organizers of Botcon along with his brother Jon Hartman, updated his Facebook page today with some exciting news: the fan's choice Hall of Fame Award has been renamed as "The Hartman Award" to honor the Hartman's contribution to the foundation and legacy of Botcon!

Jon had this to say:

Each year at the Hasbro Transformers Hall of Fame dinner during BotCon (the official Transformers convention), Transformers characters and the creative people behind the Transformers brand are inducted into the Transformers hall of fame. The fans are asked to vote each year for one character that they want to be inducted into the hall of fame, as a fan's choice.

This year, Aaron Archer, one of the vice presidents and creative directors at Hasbro, declared that the fan's choice award will now be called 'the Hartman Award', named for my brother Jon and my contributions to the Transformers fan community over the years, specifically the creation of BotCon 18 years ago in 1994. We are certainly very honored and humbled by this recognition. This is a picture of Aaron and myself taken at the Hasbro booth at BotCon this afternoon.

Congratulations to the Hartman brothers for this honor, and we celebrate along with you while thanking you for your contribution to our fandom! Your hard work is very much respected and appreciated!

His small size allows him to access many areas others can’t, but belies a strength that allows him to accomplish even the hardest jobs. SHAFTER’s mastery of civil engineering allows him to construct a solution from the ground up, drawing inspiration from the monuments of his home world and the wonders he’s found on Earth. SHAFTER’s abilities at design aren’t just limited to blueprints, either, and his cunning strategies have turned defeat into victory numerous times. Even with all his defensive skills, SHAFTER is no stranger to the front lines. SHAFTER is durable enough for the most toughest jobsite, and can shrug off enemy fire while “giving as good as he gets” with his powerful hydraulic arms or his induction rivet-guns. SHAFTER intends to make sure that the next enemy spy looking for trouble finds a lot more than they bargain for, and to prove once and for all that great things can come from small packages.

TFcon 2012 features Canada's largest dealer room for Transformers merchandise, question and answer panels and autograph sessions with many special guests including Transformers voice actor Scott McNeil and Hasbro Canada with more to be announced.

TFcon - Canada's 11th Annual Transformers Collectors Convention is July 27th to 29th, 2012 at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. The TFcon 2012 hotel block is now available.

If you knew where to look at Botcon 2012 you might have noticed that a Giant was among us in the dealer room - a Maketoys Giant that is. The second Not-Devastator to reach the market was on show, and our staff member Boardwise got to take a look at the big guy. According to Boardwise this thing is sturdy - one of the people at the booth where this was shown picked it up by the chestplate and shook it, with nothing falling off. The connectors use a button-lock system for stability. On this version, the legs shown are unpainted prototypes, the rest are production models.

One final tidbit that may be of interest is that the green version of Giant is going to be sporting a different head mold for the combined mode, according to the person who was speaking to Boardwise.

Discuss this and all things Giant by hitting the discuss button!

TVHUB had the opportunity to interview the legend Frank Welker; the man behind the voice of G1 and Prime Megatron. Below are some of the highlights:

When you first started voicing Megatron and other Transformers characters in the 1980s, did you think this franchise would still be living on through big screen features and new television series almost 30 years later? How do you feel about the way its continued to grow into what it is now?

Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime voice actor) and I have often talked about that very thing. We had no idea how big the fan base was or how the franchise was growing back then. We never received any fan mail and the only feedback we got was when and if the show was picked up for another season. We didn't have any invites to Bot Cons and the like until just a few years ago, so all of this attention was a surprise, a very pleasant surprise. With the features and the new iterations of all things TF, the new audience and the old supporters seem to remain enthusiastic and that is very meaningful and appreciated.

Do you have any thoughts on the upcoming Transformers 4 movie? You voiced Shockwave and a few other characters in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, so have you been approached to voice Shockwave or any other character for Transformers 4? Is there a particular character you'd love to voice that you haven't been given the chance to yet?

I haven't been asked to participate in the new features, but usually we don't know until later because the voice work comes at the end of the production process. I'm not sure if any of the TF's I did in the other features will be returning. I would like to see Soundwave get more screen time he is always a fun character. For Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, I did his voice in many foreign languages and that was really fun. Hard, but fun. I didn't have a lot of lines but I tried to make the most of them. Japanese was impossible!!!

IDW Transformers artist Marcelo Matere recently updated his deviantArt page with his pencils for the dealer incentive covers of the Transformers: More than Meets the Eye and Transformers: Robots in Disguise books. What is really special about these covers is that they interconnect to reveal a larger image!

He had this to say on his dA page:

"Since IDW showed these covers during their panel at Botcon last weekend, I think there's no problem to show it here!

Do you like Decepticons? Dinobots so here we go!

Interconnected covers pencils for issue #7 of Transformers: More Than Meets the Eyes and Transformers: Robots in Disguise. Those are the incentive covers for the Decepticon and Dinobot month ( July/2012)"

You can view the larger image after the jump!

Also, just a reminder to those of you aspiring artists: several artists who are now working professionally for companies such as IDW and even Hasbro got their start in our very Creative Fan Art Forums here! Be sure to check out the artwork by the many talented artists who frequent our forums, and if you have artwork to share with the fandom, by all means post it up!

The new project is a pair of show accurate guns for Transformers Prime (First Edition or Mainline) Optimus Prime. Design wise, these are outright copies of the gun that came with the First Edition, right down to the hole under the barrel for mounting the First Edition's sword. The difference is these are painted in silver rather than black with metallic flake, and have some blue accents.

Word reaches us via the official Botcon Twitter account that the Shattered Glass Soundwave headband from the Botcon 2012 Transformers Collector's Club store will be receiving a second run. So if you're a fan of having your characters look as they do in the fiction and are considering paying the inflated secondary market prices for the Soundwave headband to complete your Shattered Glass Soundwave, you'll want to hang fire for the time being to get this second run straight from the source.

Stay tuned for more information.

TFC Toys have added some new images to their Facebook page to show off their upcoming Iron Army custom sets. The new color images demonstrate the different modes of each of the four vehicles, along with the combined modes with both Heavytread and also Bombshock from the Power Core Combiners series.

The new images also indicate that these will be released in two individual sets rather than a set of all four. Set A will include the tan Tiger-1 tank and the grey-blue P-51 Mustang fighter while Set B will include the green T-34 tank and the brown J7 Shinden fighter. Text attached to another of the images teases that TFC Toys intends to continue to expand their Iron Army with more releases in future.

In a bit of news overlooked during Botcon, the Facebook page of Dr. Wu has updated with a few new items. First off, a new accessory for your Transformers Prime toys. A chunk of "Dark Force" aka "Dark Energon. Perfect for those who wish to impale their recently deceased Cliffjumpers and bring them back to life as an insane zombie Transformer!

Speaking of which, Dr Wu has updated with a sticker accessory to go with their previously announced DW-PT02 Martyr set. This set will convert your Deluxe Robots In Disguise Cliffjumper into his more terrifying, undead self. You can check out the images for Martyr in this thread.

2005 Boards member Josh has shared with us something really cool - the artwork for the Geoff Senior retailer incentive cover of the upcoming Transformers Regeneration 1 #81, which he colored! Geoff Senior for those not aware worked on the original Generation 1 book for Marvel UK and brought to life many memorable pieces of artwork for the series. This retailer incentive cover goes right back to the original Marvel run's style with a big serving of nostalgia, resurrecting the classic retro style of the original comic series. Click the thumbnail at left to check it out.

Take this next bit of news with a huge grain of salt for the time being. According to 2005 Board member Catz, Hasbro has sent out solicitations that include some recently cancelled Transformers Prime and Transformers Dark of the Moon figures. As of now, these may only be appearing in Asia. Included in the solicitations are the following:

TRA PRIME DELUXE AST (to be released May 28th)
2x Arcee
3x Cliffjumper
3x Vehicon

TRA MOVIE ALL STAR DELUXE ASST (to be released May 21st)
8x Autobot Que

Again, until we see preorders for these items, take this as a grain of salt. Catz is very reliable with his news, so hopefully those who missed out on any of these figures can finally get their hands on them through online retailers. We will find out in the coming weeks and keep you updated here on TFW.

Thai website Larckyray.com has uploaded a solicitation for a two pack featuring 2007 Movie Leader figures Optimus Prime and Megatron. An odd choice for a release, but these two figures were not widely available back in 2007 in Asia. These will most likely fall into the rumored All Star line for Asia. Retail price is about $210.00 US. No word yet if these two will feature different paint applications, if any at all.

Discuss this on the 2005 Boards!

Are you one of the many eagerly awaiting the release of the Generations series Fall of Cybertron Bruticus, but dreading the inevitable short-packing of one or more of the Combaticons making it hard to finish your Bruticus? Well, worry not, because along with the "game accurate" giftset coming out of the San Diego Comic Con this year, there's reports coming to us from UK fansite Fullmetal Hero that Amazon will also be offering an exclusive giftset release for Bruticus. It's expected to be the same colors as the retail release, only offered in a gift box rather than individually.

This naturally might be a good way to get hold of all five without risking the disappointment of not being able to find the fifth man to complete the gestalt, especially if the SDCC exclusive is out of your reach or you prefer the more vibrant colors of the mass retail edition.

Check out the original news report here.
