To anybody who has the regular version of classic Lion-o: Does it bug anybody else that the sword of omens is floppy? It makes me want the chrome swords that SDCC Lion-o has even though I don't like that figure. It is so overpriced on ebay and TRU won't ship outside the US and Canada so it ain't really worth it. I wouldn't have minded if the swords were a solid plastic at all and if that had been the case I wouldn't have even been interested in SDCC Lion-o. I'm hoping maybe they'll release a Jaga or Claudus in the classic line with a sword of omens included that is made of solid plastic. With the sword of omens being the most iconic weapon in the whole series, I don't like the idea of it being weak and flimsy. How is classic Lion-o supposed to have a duel with anybody?

The swords being floppy doesn't bother me. Even though the main target of these Classic figures is adult collectors, they still have to account for any kids that'll have these figures too, and with kids comes rather strict toy "safety" laws. Only way they get away with releasing a solid plastic sword with one of these figures, is as a convention exclusive.

So do you think all the figures will have weapons made of soft plastic?

Glad I'm not the only one with their mind in the gutter. When I saw a thread called "Lion-O's floppy sword" on top of one named "My 14" Lion-O gallery" I started snickering.

Its not the size that matters, its how you use it...your sword of course.

Not all of them, but all of the long and thin ones. Like the swords and Cheetara's staff. Something shorter like Tygra's gun shouldn't need to be made out of soft plastic. Basically just the one's that children could "accidentally hurt themselves" with.

I get where you are coming from on this one but I do think the plastic could have been firmer. There have been figures with weapons made of soft plastic but they've still been firm and they've had blunt edges so that they've been safe for kids. I don't think I actually have another figure where the weapon has been made of plastic that soft, even when it has been something pointy like a sword. Does 4" and 6" Lion-o also have a floppy sword of soft plastic like 8" classic Lion-o?

The best thing to do is get the SDCC lion-o and give the chrome sword to the classic figure. Also having the purple sword display looks great in the background.

THIS !! Regular "Non Dirty" Lion-O Classic with Chrome Sword of Omens from the Exclusive is the best of both worlds.

They make a striking combination.

I would've bought the SDCC if it wasn't more than double the price of the normal release (and that's before secondary market).

Here's My issues, Yes the SDCC had a more solid Sword, but I don't want to have to pay twice the Price just for a better sword. Secondly, look at the 6" Lion-O, his full size Sword, to me anyways, seems to be made of a thicker harder plastic, yes it still bends, but it seems to retain it's shape better. I can see Tygra's whip and Panthro's Nunchuku's being made of a softer plastic, but The Sword of Omens and Chetara's Staff should be stronger. And for those who are gonna say, "Classic Lion-O's sword could be made of the same strength plastic as 6" Lion-O's, but the difference in size makes it seem weaker", I think even the 6" Mumm-Ra's Sword of Plundarr (Which is almost twice the length of the 8" Sword of Omens) Is made of a harder plastic too.

I understand there's some play with toys due to laws and what not, (Like the Shorten Smokestacks on Masterpiece Optimus Prime), but I think Ban-Dai went too far with the soft sword.

As much as I doubt it would work, it's definitely something I would sign a petition for. Now that I own Classics Lion-O, the floppiness of his sword is a bit more annoying than I had anticipated. It's not absolutely horrible, but is the reason I have it sitting to the side, rather than in his hand. The dagger form is completely fine, imho, as it's short enough not to bend so easily. It's also something I'll probably keep holstered in the claw shield most of the time.

I think I'm gonna be doing the same. I had it at my desk for all of 5 Mins with Lion-O Holding out the sword and it started bending under it's own weight, I MEAN COME ON!!!!

Maybe if we're lucky a 3rd party company will step up to the plate and deliver an accesory pack to fix this.

We'll I bought an extra classics lion so I'm going to try to figure out how to make it firmer. First I'm goin to tr the hot/cold water trick a few times to see if warming up the plastic and submerging it in a glass of ice water will d the trick. If not I might get some clear acrylic coat to see if that works without destroying the sword in the process. With all of the third party stuff for transformer I hope someone will come up with extra adult friendly accesories.

I barely ever bite on 3rd party stuff. (Marauder guns are the exception) but i would be all over a 3rd party Sword of Omens both long and shot. The floppy ness isn't a huge issue. It would be neat to have it chrome and stuff like the SDCC version.

I have to say that I agree with all that the swords on both the 8" and the 6" need help BUT there not the worst thing in the world............the WORST thing in the world is the sword for the 4" figure! I hate that thing.

This is what I have done to fix it. Boil water and submerge it for 1 min! then submerge it in ice water for 3 mins. Now this makes the blade straight for about 10-15 min after which is goes back to its limp twisted self.
Am I doing something wrong in this process? Please help if you can.

Also I am now considering using the 6 inch sword for the 4" lion O cause I just cant deal with the 4" sword of omens.
Didint mean to rant guys lol

I would assume 4", because from what I've read, all of their Thundercats stuff is meant to be "Modern GI-Joe" compatible.

Try using nail polish or super glue on the sword, it's a trick I learned with Marvel Universe. I used super glue on my Sword of Omens and now it is alot stiffer{snicker, snicker}. Just brush it or nail polish on the blade and allow it to dry{without touching anything if you're using the glue trick}.

Thank you so much for the super glue tip. I put some over my 4 inch Lion-O's sword and let it dry while I ate my dinner and it is so much better now. Nowhere near as flimsy like it was before. You sir are my new hero.

I used super glue instead of nail polish but with super glue it didn't change the sword other than it might be a tad bit glossier than before.
