"Listen to my tears roll down my face as she turns to go..."

His bloodless lips curled into a sneer as his hand balled into a fist, a shiny, black metal in its grip. Drawing back the Sword of Plundar, with Warstone firmly planted in its eye, Mumm-Ra the Everliving charged at nearly exhausted lord of the Thundercats. The veins in his biceps bulged, ready to flex their weight and swing the dark blade across the neck of the young cat. With a loud cry he fixed his eyes on Lion-O, speeding closer to his target.

His noble brother had fallen just a few feet away, a beautiful female lying atop him, unconscious. The faithful general lay crumpled some distance behind the undead sem-priest, his mighty mechanical arms flayed to either side, crackling intermittently with blue electricity.

Lion-O absent-mindedly felt the gauntlet and its scabbard. The stones were lost, transplanted into their new master's armor. The tech stone gave armor to his adversary, the spirit stone enabled him to regenerate quickly, and the atom-stone bequeathed his undead assailant with all the knowledge of the art of combat. Mumm-Ra had even captured the warstone, and Lion-O was all too aware of its powers and abilities.

The Thundercats were gone, as was Thundera. His grateful friends, gathered from every nation on Third Earth, had all fallen at the mighty hand of the Mad Mummy. Pumyra leaned against the wall in the shadows, her eyes glowing, betraying the smirk on her beautiful face. Those who did not fall forsook him. All hope and all resistance, it seemed, was futile. There was nothing he could do now except to look to the sky with eyes shut, ready to accept his fate.

The blade of Plundarr shimmered in the darkness as Mumm-Ra raised it high above his head, the next moment to deliver a death blow to the Thundercats and their rebellion. "Victory is mine, Lion-O!" His maniacal laughter echoed through the chamber. The sharp edge raced down towards the young lion's throat. The lord of the Thundercats squeezed his eyelids shut, anticipating the pain.

The blade stopped, a mere twenty centimeters from Lion-O's jugular vein. Lion-O sensed no pain. Exhaling what he thought would be his final breath, he slowly opened one eye. He heard himself gasp in utter astonishment, then opened both eyes and blinked hard, as if to assure himself it was no imagination of his. Lion-O sensed a presence.

He shifted his gaze from the blade to Mumm-Ra. The mad mummy looked as if he were in shock, and for what seemed like the first time, his eyes showed fear and bewilderment. The sound of metal falling to the floor and making a clanging sound caused both combatants to turn their eyes toward the sword of Plundarr.

"Impossible!"

The sword forged from the heart of a large star had been shattered into a thousand tiny pieces. It was then that Lion-O noticed the one responsible. Lion-O turned his eyes to the new arrival. He had the strength and size of a great warrior. Looking at him up and down, he was a powerful, short-haired brown man, a creature that looked unlike anything he had seen on Third Earth. This creature did not look at all like any of the animal races he had seen. He appeared to be dressed in white robes, adorned with a red sash crossing his chest diagonally. The man looked at Lion-O and nodded.
