I know this area is sketchy as toy companies could claim the prototypes are the property of the company and those holding them could be in trouble.

So I am wondering if I am lucky enough to come across any prototypes and am able to afford them(wishful thinking) is there any real problems associated with them? Im not talking about newer items but ones coming from bankrupt companies like ljn?

Ive seen someone on ebay selling prototype thundercats miniature figures from the mini line and was wondering if that could land me in trouble down the line i i decided to bid.

I see prototypes of old Hasbro toys on Ebay all the time. Usually these were acquired legally by former designers/employees and are not "stolen from the factory," as Mattel likes to say. 99.99% of the time, thieves aren't going to sell stolen goods on Ebay, because the paper trail is too obvious. With old LJN prototypes, I'm confident you'd be in no trouble if you purchased them.
