I know that in the new thundercats its the stone that gave the sword power.
But they never explained why it was called sword of omens if the Lion's name wasnt omen. And I wish the forger of the sword in the show showed some chanting or adding something magical to the sword prior to placing the stone.

It's called Omens because of what the stone can do for the wielder. The Sword (blade part) isn't magical, just the stone.

It's called the Sword of Omens because of the visions it gives.

In the new series the sword itself is slightly magical in nature as it's forged from enchanted metal (the same metal that makes up the Sword of Plundarr and Mumm-Ra's gauntlet) as is the Claw Shield. It seems that this time around the sword and the eye function symbiotically.

Omen - An omen (also called portent or presage) is a phenomenon that is believed to foretell the future, often signifying the advent of change. The Sword of Omens gives it's bearer "Sight Beyond Sight" right? That's why it's called the Sword of Omens. The Book of Omens? Same sh!t.

Thanks I guess its a good thing thats what the sword and the book does since its named for that.. Imagine if the sword did something funny instead like leak or made farthing sounds .

If they continue the series, I believe they will eventully find the four stones and then they will combine. I believe the stones were always trying to come together, but only under the right wielder. Once in one form I believe the real Eye of Thundera will be shown.
