The Mumm Ra On the Left is more of a Dark Red/Maroon, instead of the normal red. It is date stamped 1985 LJN. Is this just a color variant?

The Mumm Ra on the right, not sure if it is a knock-off. It is date stamped 1985 Playful. The blue limbs are a softer plastic, while the red chest is a hard plastic similar to the normal plastic used.

Any help would be great. Thanks

As you stated, I believe the one on the left is simply a color variant as there is the maroon and the lighter red Mumm-ra's by LJN. The one on the right is interesting to me. Playful is the company that produced the Thundercats line in Argentina and essentially used the same mold, but without the light-up eyes and port in the back for the ring. I have not seen this particular figure, but perhaps it is a test shot/prototype. May I ask where you got this one? If you are ever interested in selling it, PM me.

I bought a large collection from a collector, and this was in there. I have a lot of foreign stuff, and this was in the mix. He said he bought it back in the early 2000's. That's all I know.

You are right on the part that it doesn't have the post in the back. It does have a small tiny hole in the lower back.

Very interesting! Do you have any pictures of the small hole in the back? Are we talking the size of a pin hole? I was looking around and apparently there are also a number of Mexican bootlegs that have been produced with the Playful stamp. I am not sure how to determine the difference.

If you ever decide to photograph all of the items you bought, I would really like to see them!
