It's time to sink your teeth in to not one, but TWO issues of everyone's favorite 3.75" Comic Strip, Ages 25 & Up!

HissTank.com Boards Member & A25&U creator, Numbers, provided 2 issues for us; Issue 170, entitled And To All A Good Night and Issue 171, entitled Dropping The Ball.

As Issue 171 would suggest, I dropped the ball too and didn't Front Page these when they were received. Sorry, Numbers! That said, be sure to check them out as they're deep fried in AWESOME.

Once you've caught up the latest issues, join us for discussion already in progress after the jump.

We are exactly a month away from Super Bowl XLVI and reports are coming in that NBC Universal has officially sold out all 30-second advertising spots for the 2012 Super Bowl.

There is a good chance that a 30 Second TV Spot for G. I. Joe Retaliation is included on the list. We may hear the news pretty soon. It’s only a matter of time.

Super Bowl XLVI is scheduled for February 5th, in Indianapolis. NBC is broadcasting its 17th NFL finale, tying CBS for No. 1 among networks.

MTV recently chatted with Lady Jaye actress Adrianne Palicki, who appears not only in GI Joe Retaliation but a remake of the Cold War-era flick, Red Dawn. Turns out that Palicki was a huge fan of Jinx when she was younger. She also mentions that Retaliation is a reboot:

Palicki: It was a pleasant surprise, because this is a reboot. It's scary going into the shoes that have already been worn. We wanted to do something really unique and special. With such an amazing group of talented actors, you don't want it to fall flat. How many people reached out, it's unbelievable to hear the comments that they're so excited, that the trailer is better than the first movie was. Just really cool reactions that you're going, "OK, hopefully we don't let you down." I really don't think we will. I think it's going to be a really fun ride for everybody.

The cast was able to perform their own stunts, which is definitely right up Snake Eyes actor Ray Park's alley.

Though Jinx was Palicki's favorite, Lady Jaye isn't so bad, though this time around, she won't be sporting some javelins:

MTV: What was the scariest thing you had to do on set?

Palicki: We did have to scale a wall, but after seeing "Mission: Impossible 4," I'm like, "Well, I guess it wasn't that scary." An 18-foot wall compared to a skyscraper. The fun thing is that we get to do a lot of our own stunts.

MTV: Were you a fan of "G.I. Joe" when you were growing up?

Palicki: Oh yeah, definitely. I have a big brother, so anything he liked, I liked. He was super big into comic books, so I was super big into comic books. He was super big into G.I. Joe, and I wanted to be Jinx so badly. I don't know just if it was that she was wearing a red costume or what, but I wanted to be a ninja.

MTV: Were you disappointed to be Lady Jaye then?

Palicki: Lady Jaye's a badass. I couldn't really be disappointed with Lady Jaye. She's the one chick in the boys club. She can hold her own. She doesn't get the staff, but she is a weapons specialist. She has that going for her.

Collider spoke with GI Joe Retaliation actor Channing Tatum recently. Towards the end of their interview, Tatum briefly went over how GI Joe Retaliation will differ from GI Joe Rise Of Cobra, going as far as to say that he thinks it'll be wildly different:
  • Not going the whole "CGI, cartoon-ish route"
  • Going more based in reality
  • Going for more "boots in the ground" mentality according to director Jon Chu
  • Real guns, NO LASERS
With these notable differences, are you more excited for Retaliation?

Back in October, HissTank.com noted that Brian Ward all but confirmed the DiC GI Joe DVDs for release after Christmas.

Well, that time is NOW, as Board Members have confirmed picking up their set of GI Joe A Real American Hero Series 2 Season 1.

The incredible adventures of the international team of heroes known as G.I. JOE continue! Together they defend the globe against Cobra, a ruthless organization led by Serpentor and the recently rejuvenated Cobra Commander, who are both determined to conquer the world by any means necessary.

In 1989 a popular second G.I. JOE animated series was created and helped revive the franchise by introducing fans to new G.I. JOE and Cobra troops alike! Now you can experience the adventures of that second series from the beginning, including the fan-favorite miniseries that started it all — Operation Dragonfire!

Last Saturday, Sideshow Collectibles posted another round of questions under the Ask Sideshow Q&A Session.

Although we already knew that Snow Job would be soon joining the awesome ranks of Sideshow's excellent 12" G.I.Joe Figures, Sideshow has hinted of other figures soon to be created -

Question: When can we expect to see great Joes like Snow Job, Mutt & Junkyard and Gung Ho?

Answer: Of the Joes that we would like to tackle next, you've named two of our favorite four. Shipwreck is missing from your list, but who ahs the other slot? Hmmm....

Let the speculation begin!

Pickings have been slim. Figures are barely showing up at retail and online stores such as Kokomo Toys, Small Joes and BBTS are all but sold out...

But WAIT! There's hope yet! HissTank.com board member Cobra Coffee has spotted the elusive wave online at Hasbro Toy Shop! If you haven't been able to secure yours, well, now's your chance! You can find the wave here - G.I.Joe Wave 10 Case

Happy Hunting, Tankers!

"This is a commissioned Terror Drome I've been working on for about six month. So basically everything has been custom painted
from top to bottom. I created some rust effects here and there. I reformatted most of the foot pegs for modern era. I added lights
to the outside, inside and some of the computer control panels.

I also per commission request created a Missile to sit in the middle of the dome. The repro stickers are from J Ruben.
I also repainted the firebat and created a custom pilot. Though I can't show it in the pictures the lights on one of the
computers flash as do the white lights in some of the compartments which really gives it that alarms going off feeling."

COBRA COMMANDER had his BLACK DRAGON NINJAS brainwashed as a precaution to ensure that his growing ranks of ARASHIKAGE never rise up against him or COBRA. Little did he know that the ninja STORM SHADOW is a master of the atsui nami a deep mind control technique, which he cunningly used on the BLACK DRAGON NINJAS to ensure their allegiance to him. Regardless of who their true master is, these ruthless ninja warriors are swift, silent, and deadly, and they pose a tremendous threat to anyone who crosses them.

The Rock has praised [Storm Shadow actor Lee Byung Hun's performance in GI Joe Retaliation. According to allkpop, The Rock was at a press conference in Taipei for his Journey 2 movie, and said the following about Lee:

“I became close with Lee Byung Hun as we filmed ‘G.I. Joe 2′. It was a really great experience being able to meet him. He has strong presence when he walks into a room. He had my attention as soon I saw him. We ate together, and got along great. He is humble, he is confident, and well plays his character in the movie. I really liked the way he pulled off his action scenes and he was impressed with his acting skills.”

In addition, on a more light-hearted note, Lee asked if they had to appear shirtless in a scene together, out of fear that The People's Champ would make him look bad:

“He asked me before we began filming if there was a scene where he needed to take my shirt off. There weren’t any that I remembered, and I asked him why he was asking. He said that he had a scene where he had to take his off, and if I take mine off, it would make him look bad. I just laughed when I heard him say that.”

Storm Shadow is said to don a hood in Retaliation, in addition to earlier rumors of a different costume(which has yet to be seen).

As suspected since the GI joe Retaliation Trailer premiered, it's sounds like Channing Tatum may not be in the movie much. You may recall that last summer, it was said that GI Joe Retaliation would be centered on Snake Eyes and Roadblock. Roadblock and Snake Eyes were featured in the trailer much more than Tatum, who isn't seen(in the trailer) after the desert ambush at night. This lead some fans to speculate that perhaps his character dies early on in the movie. Perhaps later trailers may shed more light.

In any case, CraveOnline got a chance to talk to Tatum 1 on 1 after a recent press conference, and Tatum spoke about Retaliation:

Are there girls in ‘G.I. Joe Retaliation’ who can kick your ass?

No. I don’t think so. Oh no, there was a French martial artist. I don’t know, I’ve never really seen her fight. I wasn’t really in any of the scenes that she was in so I don’t really know what her capabilities are. She’s insanely beautiful in her movements, just elegant like I don’t even know. I wish I would’ve stayed to get to watch her fight though, do her scenes. She’s a very good athlete for sure.

The Rock and Bruce Willis are awesome, but is it bittersweet that the big guys come in and take some of the lead?

No, no, not at all to me. I’m very, very happy with the arrangement for sure.

Is there room for the original team in the sequel?

You’re going to have to watch the movie on that one, sorry.

Well the trailer is awesome. Did Jon Chu bring any of his ‘Step Up’ style to it?

I’m sure. I love Jon. Jon has his finger on the pulse of, I don’t want to say pop, but of the youth. I think he brings a youthfulness and an edgy hipness to it that I think the first one didn’t have.

And you wanted the sequel to get darker and edgier, right?

Yeah, I don't know if it got darker. I just think it got edgier and more current and hip and it didn’t go so far into the CGI technical world. It really got more, I think Jon uses the words “boots on the ground” to describe it. More hand to hand stuff and just normal guns and normal soldiering.

Did you get to do the mountain repelling scene?

I did not. I wish I did. That would’ve been fun.

So 'Tankers, are you pleased with the direction Retaliation seems to have taken?

With the most bizarre Narration we can ever think of for a G. I. Joe movie, this new TV Spot is for the upcoming Network Television Premiere of G. I. Joe: Rise Of Cobra. On Saturday, February 4th (at 8PM) you are going to meet “Attractive People” apparently.

Most HISSTANK members see this as a “Hype Building” for the upcoming Sequel/Semi-Reboot of the G. I. Joe: Live Action Movie Series; G. I. Joe: Retaliation, which promises to be far superior to ROC.

Check out this photo shoot of the recently released Renegades Storm Shadow. Yes, it's been out for a bit and seen before, but we have given the figure another run and hopefully some additional looks at what it can do.

This figure, when configured right, is a perfect companion to the Snake Eyes from last years POC line, and together are as close to "Masterpiece" level as we've gotten in the 3 3/4th scale. If you see one, pick it up!

Seems like The Rock wasn't the only one praising Storm Shadow Actor Lee Byung Hun's performance in GI Joe Retaliation. KpopStarz has reported that Lee overcame the doubts of the crew and ended up impressing them:

"Jung Doo Hong, the martial arts director of the film, revealed that when Byung first began filming the movie, he did not receive the respect or recognition that he was worthy of due to his ethnicity. However after demonstrating his amazing acting skills and superb work ethic the entire staff began to treat him differently. Blown away by his performance cast and set members would whisper "wow" and "amazing" under their breath after each cut."

Also mentioned was that Storm Shadow and General Joe Colton(played by Bruce Willis) do not appear in many scenes together.

Infestation 2 #1

Last year's groundbreaking Infestation series, IDW's first-ever event, saw many teams from multiple universes fight off a zombie invasion. Now, an even bigger threat has risen to threaten the growing IDW multiverse: Lovecraftian demons threaten to reach across time and space and destroy everyone everywhere and everywhen! Also featuring Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, this framing issue presents a threat that perhaps not even TRANSFORMERS, G.I. JOEs, Danger Girl, and others can surmount!

Episode 38: What’s on JOE Mind?

When we started podcasting, our expectations were low. We didn't expect to be around very long and we would have never guessed that we would have an interview with anyone associated with Joe media. Well, it seemed appropriate on the episode that makes WOJM the longest running Joe-only podcast on the internet (possibly in the world or in all existence for that matter), we book our biggest interview to date. You've heard him in our pre-show bumpers, but now we get him for an hour, its Jason Marsden the voice of Duke on the Hub's GI Joe Renegades cartoon.

In a recent Interview with Collider, actor Walton Goggins talked briefly about his involvement with director Jon Chu’s upcoming movie G. I. Joe: Retaliation.

Collider: How did you end up getting involved with G.I. Joe 2?

Mr. Goggins: Well, Lorenzo [di Bonaventura] just approached me. He had been a fan since The Shield, and he said, “I’m doing this big budget movie and I’ve got this role I want you to come play.” If you can bounce back and forth between a studio movie or a big action movie, like Cowboys & Aliens or G.I. Joe, and you balance that out, if you’re so lucky, with a wonderful television show or working with Steven [Spielberg], what better career can you have? One of the reasons why I wanted to do Justified so badly, or wanted to continue once we got up and going, was that I didn’t have to live in pain, every single day. On The Shield, for seven years, I was emotionally fucking wrecked. It was rare that we were just laughing. For the last five years, especially, it was really painful. Justified is lighter in tone, and it’s nice to be around that and show up to work and wear that hat. It’s the same thing for movies. G.I. Joe was fun. Lincoln was serious. I’m going to go do Quentin Tarantino’s movie (Django Unchained), and that’s going to be seriously fun. Once you’re at the buffet table, you just sample everything. That makes for a well-balanced life.

Collider: Was part of the appeal of the G.I. Joe sequel the fact that it’s more grounded in reality, this time around, and not so cartoony?

Mr. Goggins: Yeah, it’s a very, very big part of it. Just because of my personality, for me, comedy comes from pessimism, more often than not, and from a real place. In some ways, I wish I could tell a joke. I’m not good at telling a joke, but I can say a line in a certain way that makes people uncomfortable because they don’t know whether to laugh or not, and I love that comedy. That’s my favorite comedy, when it’s grounded in truth. And, I think G.I. Joe is going to be a really good film.

Walton Goggins is rumored to play an original character for the film; Warden Nigel James.
