Lion-O's ancestor is the definition of feline manliness. Jeez, he looks like a really buff solid snake. I can't get over that fact.

Suprised you didnt have nightmares from ur own lil thoughts, lolz nice image tho!
I too felt like his transformation was kinda rushed and to quick instead of evil voice in the background w lion-o looking up and all around wondering what that is or where is that coming from, right as you stated mumra comes bearing down on him just b4 he trys to go for the book. it was still a decent show tho! |

All around, the usage, interwoven character dynamics, and coherent history are really working for this show. It shows a lot of depth and forethought was put into all of this. I have a feeling they have much planned that may mirror the original in many regards such as other space faring races coming in, the other survivors, a new thundera kingdom, and even the return of Mummra once thought defeated. The later seasons of original thundercats and all these easter eggs make me think they have an overall plan that stays true to the original, yet also goes in new more coherent directions in this vast fantasy world filled with technology. That was not Claudus or Tigras father. That was centurys before them. |
i don't think tigrus is tygra's father, the flashback was set hundreds if not thousands of years ago.
|
I'm still surprised at the sexual angle the writers are taking w/ Cheetara & Lion-O. Overall I thought the episode was good. Surprised to see that Mumm-Ra's sarcophagus doubled as a vehicle. For a second there I thought I was watching Mummies Alive!

tygra...maybe. also claudus never ran up against mumm-ra before, infact mumm-ra was thought to be just a myth. it seems to me that "the pride" is usually led by a lion, which panthro kinda confirmed in "Old Friends". so if the pride is traditionally led by a lion then it might also be tradition to have a tiger be second in command. if that's the case then maybe tygra's father died in battle and and claudus raised tygra as his own for his friend. but that would have happened in the past 15 or so years and not thousands of years ago when the flashback was set. |

the first flashback was set during a time when the thundercats still possessed technology. in the other flashback you can already see that they were losing there knowledge of technology. |
"No...we...were...just trying to get my sword to work." Hahaha, priceless

liono and cheetera lol did anybody else catch the sarcasm liono said when the kits ran up on him and cheetera? "she was helping me fix my broke sword" lol he had to pause before sayin that lol..
this episode beats the other 5 by a long shot, it reminded me of the OS tower of traps episode. dont be surprise if they do a 5 yrs later ep and start from there. i can see it coming already. lol at panthro cant swim that was a shocker and when he told tygra to close his mouth you drooling is priceless..overall i can see myself re watching this ep over and over until next friday, im dying to see what the book has to say even thou liono said its blank was just a closure to the episode. |
that thundercat ship looked sick that the ancestor of tygra was piloting Id be curious to see a toy made out of that!!!!
|
Ok I was very impressed with last night's episode! I love the little moment between Lion-O and Cheetara, ;);) and when WilyKat and Kit butted in!!:D
During the flashback it was so cool to see a young Cladus (OMG, he looks just like Asch the Bloody from Tales of the Abyss!!!) And I'm guessing that the Tygrus guy was Tygra's father. It makes sense. Oh and the "journey" to the tower, talk about perilous!! And wait, Panthro can't swim!?!? Didn't see that coming. Then the race to the top of the tower! When Cheetara was to doing her little run, loved Tygra's face, haha! Then Lion-O and Mumm-Ra face off! I almost believed that Mumm-Ra had won for a second, but then that would totally suck! But thanks to Jaga's sacrafice, he was forced to retreat. Then here comes the moment we have all waited for, the contents of the Book of Omens!!!:D When Lion-O opened the book, I mumbled: "I bet it's blank!" AND HOLY CRAP I WAS RIGHT!!! Major cliffhanger! Anyways another awesome episode, so keep them coming!!!!!!!!:D:D:D |

Loved the episode, and I feel bad for Lion-O. That was definitely a "Dang, that just made it sound even more sexual" when he was telling the twins that Cheetara was only trying to help him get his sword working. :D The sword just needs some Thundera Viagra! lol |
Quote:
But yeah when I heard what Lion-O said, it definatly sounded like that! LOL |
I really want a toy made ----> Hearse of the Ever Living!
|
You mean the MummRaNK
:) |
My 2 cents:
-Another awesome ep (I dub it "Indion-O Jones" =P ) -I'd like to see the Cheetara/Lion-O relationship continue to evolve -Everyone got a moment to shine... the kids with the lock, Panthro going one-on-one with Mumm-Ra, Cheetara saving Jaga and then running up the tower(!!!!!), Tygra ambushing Mumm-Ra and then of course Lion-O's ... well... he tried hard to fight =) -Loved the glimpses at the history with the (yes, very old) descendants of the cats working with Mumm-Ra. -can't wait to find out what happens next time why the book is blank!!! |
Wait wait WAIT!!! The eye of Thundra was a friggin red ruby stone stolen from an alien power generator by Mumm-Ra and his cats???? WTF? God, man I'm pissed. You know what? I'm done. Damn the writer and their show. So long, folks!

Really the timeline they're coming up with is interesting. |

OK, finally get a chance to comment on the episode;
Great! Loved the Tower of Omens, very "Last Crusade" inspired. Mumm-Ra transforming was frakkin awesome! And Jaga sacrificng himself like that...wow. Comedy wise, the Kittens continue to make me love them. "Why try keys when you can pick the lock?" Great. And Lion-O's bit about Cheetara helping him control the sword. Interesting euphemism (this will be on tvtropes, I'd bet money on that). I'm curious as to why the flashback showed thundercats working for Mumm-Ra though. Very curious. |

I liked it. It was good to see the backstory Mumm-Ra and the ancestors of the ThunderCats. I also liked the fact that Panthro couldn't swim, it makes him more interesting in a unique way. I wonder if the Tower of Omens will be like the Cats Lair for the new series.
5/5 |
I saw mentioned somewhere that the Book of Omens might be a IPad type device hence it being blank. that would be funny.
|
About The Thunderians working with Mumm-Ra in the flash back. I just assumed that he had tricked them into thinking he was a good guy. He had a habit of doing that in the OS.

Specifically why I made the point to later on refer to him as their ancestor and not Claudus. |

I hope they don't pull a Kung Fu Panda with the Book of Omens. I will say one thing I really liked about the episode was that Cheetara really got her chance to shine, |
Like others, I'm extremely intrigued as to the explanation why and how Mumm-Ra and the Thundercat ancestors worked together, and what that alien world they were attacking is. It would be very interesting if that world was indeed Brimstar (Mon*Star's planetary headquarters) from the Silverhawks show.

One complaint I see with this episode is Mumm-Ra and his sarcophagus tank (Storm Charger is the official name?). The only time he obviously does not need it is when he can FLY in his Ever Living form. However, in his decayed form, he's a glass cannon or squishy wizard: powerful magic attacks but quite fragile physically. In that form, he needs some way to get around, since he cannot fly in his decayed form (both 2011 and original series). That's where the tank comes in. |

Yeah, there's a big time gap between Mumm-Ra and the Cats' alliance, probably to give themselves a lot of wiggle room.
I like that there's a complex backstory to this. I also like the idea they once had a truce. And since nobody was especially happy and hugging back then, I doubt it was an easy one. |
Wow. I was right when I suspected Mumm-Ra being an alien. Turns out, he is quite alike to Ra from the Stargate movie, enslaving a race (the Thundercats) to use as his soldiers in world conquest.
And, the Eye was a Warstone... not even belonged to the cats! This is getting more and more interesting. I liked the interaction between Lion-O and Cheetara (she has more then trust in him, and he knowns it), the fact that the fearless Panthro is afraid of one thing, the kittens being usefull but still falling for a trick set for the greedy, and the fact that Mumm-Ra was not defeated easily in his first appearance. It took Jaga's (second) sacrifice to save Lion-O. Oh and this line was awesome: -"Haha! You are much like your father." -"What could you know of my father?" -"Only that I have killed him." |
Episode 6 thundercats
This episode was awesome, epic, and really cool.:D

This was an awesome episode. Indiana Jones indeed. |
Well I'm in major disagreement with some folks here as far as Mumm-Ra's transformation was concerned: It freakin' rocked my socks. This is what we call a VILLAIN! This Mumm-Ra has, in his two major appearances, done more damage and has shown more evil than his 80's counterpart did in the ENTIRE ORIGINAL SERIES! I know some people still want some of that 80's charm and magic but honestly it's time to move on. The original will always be there for us and will always be great, so there is no reason that T-Cats 2011 can't be great too.
Now having said that, this episode was great! This is what tropers like to call a wham episode. This single episode has changed the entire course of the show from here on in. So many possibilities here in regards to Mumm-Ra's former alliance with the Cats, Jaga being deader than dead (possibly coming back as Ghost Jaga), the Book of Omens being blank (I'm putting my money on the idea that the book is some kind of hard drive or eReader. Just take a close look at that book and you'll see buttons instead of pages...). So yeah awesome episode! Oh and team LionArah FTW! |
I'm starting to think that the world Mumm-Ra and the Thundercat ancestor attacked at least 5000 years prior is Brimstar from the Silverhawks show. I ran into this explanation on TVTropes, and it really fits.
* 1.) The world that was attacked in the flashback is red with a single moon. In Silverhawks, Brimstar is red with a single moon (the Moon-star): Silverhawks - Monstar's Transformation - YouTube * 2.) Word Of God (Producer Michael Jelenic): "It's possible Silverhawks could appear in this universe. Warner Bros.. owns the Silverhawks, they own the Tiger Sharks... it wouldn't be reaching to think that characters from both of those series might show up in this series. Mon-Star might make an appearance." From this interview. * 3.) Both Silverhawks Big Bad Mon*Star and Mumm-Ra himself use a similar incantation to transform themselves into a more powerful being. This could also mean that the Ancient Spirits of Evil in the 2011 continuity is the same power Mon*Star calls upon to transform; Mumm-Ra just calls this power the "Ancient Spirits of Evil" because he learned how to invoke it so long ago. I agree, Beast Arrow. I do miss the dramatic transformation a little, but overall the new Mumm-ra is a massive improvement over his classic counterpart.

I'm enjoying how the story is slowly unfolding and that the backstory is being fleshed out. So is it safe to say that is Tygra's father, right? That was my thought when I first saw him and Claudus.
It's pretty interesting how there was some tech in Mumm-Ra's castle. So Claudus lied about believing in the tech and Mumm-Ra to Lion-O and Tygra? That's where I'm a little confused. |

Just in case there was any doubt:
"The two characters are are neither Claudus nor Tygra’s father." Thundercats Crew Blog, Is there any way to get a time line for the flashbacks from the last episode? like |
If memory serves, in the original series the Sword of Omens was used to activate the book (and the ThunderScope in "The Last Day") perhaps it's the same for the new series??

I think this is turning out to be an epic (and I'm not fond of the word epic, it's become ubiquitous in these types of forums) tale. Really couldn't be much more pleased with the way this entire reboot has been handled. Just a great, great re-imagining of Thundercats. Two thumbs up!
