Armor of Omens new with pics

Here's some pics i took of the new armor of omens. I think it's a really nice piece overall but lacking in the articulation which most of us already were aware of. The head swivels, shoulders move up and down, elbow joints rotate. the hands seems to look like they move but barely, as well as the bottoms of the feet look like they could move but they don't at all. I think that maybe it did with the prototype design that had the more articulated legs which would need a foot joint to accommodate certain poses. the detail and paint look great. the eyes light up with several sounds with lion-o in place. when you close the shell it activates a sound clip of sound effects and lion-o saying "thundercas hooo" which is the exact same sound byte used in the tower of omens i think it was.

Its a bit of a disappointment when the proto's and HC's promise more so we go out and buy it then its just rushed out with limited articulation etc.

Despite it's removal of articulation, the final production piece is far more cartoon accurate than the prototype. In the photo attached, we can see the differences between the final product (left) and the prototype (right).

The prototype may have more articulation, especially at the knees and ankles, but it has additional detail that was changed/not found on the final (in-show) design. Take note of the spikes sticking up from the feet, the 4 toes (instead of 5), the details at the ankles, the different knee armor, the different forearm armor, and also the different hands with individual knuckle armor. The prototype differs from the final piece so much that it may actually be an entirely different toy, and if not, then the final piece was HEAVILY reworked from the prototype. The changes were most likely made to conform to safety standards, cut costs, and correctly make the toy screen accurate to it's cartoon appearance.

The design of this toy and it's features are similar to the Gild suits from a past Bandai toy line, D.I.C.E.

It just looks like it was dumb down so kids won't hurt themselves on the pointy bits.

No articulation means no sale for me.

Tracer 01-01-2012 03:46 PM

It looks to be in scale better with the 6" line. Can you take a comparison picture?

zerocool779 01-04-2012 08:49 AM

how much were they?

nitewing73 01-04-2012 12:13 PM

It's cool but it reminds me of a Power Ranger Megazord.

TheCopperkid 01-04-2012 08:28 PM

here's some pics with the 6 inch figures, also you can see the gold lion-o is the same size and mold as the thunder racer lino-o.

Found these at walmart but as far as Im concerned it is a power ranger no sale for me, the one in the cartoon looked so much better.

I just hope they dont bollocks it up this bad when they make mummras armor.

Anyone else have issues with the batteries dying real fast and the sounds not working?

Covenant 01-17-2012 09:37 AM

I would assume the Armor of Plundarr Mumm-Ra would be even worse than the Armor of Omens. Mumm-Ra has a long skirt so I'd expect the figure to just have articulated arms on top of a large plastic teepee. Then Bandai will use some more cheesy vac-metal purple chrome on the skull on his chest. I wish Mattel or Hasbro had grabbed this license!

evilanimation 01-18-2012 12:24 AM

I passed on this multiple times, just can not pull the trigger. Guess i will be the bad guy and wait tell they hit Ross for 5.99.

Tracer 01-18-2012 07:09 PM

So I just re-watched Legacy and this thing WAY oversized. The Armor of Omens is only slightly bigger than Leo. What the heck?
