For many months that came after the big reveal of Ferrari 458 Italia being an Autobot on Transformers 3, fans debated the identity of the bot. Fan favorite name was Hot Rod.

But during the Chicago filming a name came upRush. The name alone was enough to stir up the hornets’ nest. This was quickly subdued by Nelson, mentioning that the car was parked on Rush Street. Today, thanks to Nelson… we foundout that the script actually had referred the Ferrari as Rush during the early stages of filming (a pet name like Wheelbot and Skipjack who turned out to be Scavenger/Demolishor and Rampage respectively).

And then… when Hasbro revealed their upcoming Speed Stars line, the name Mirage came into public attention. This was later plastered onto everyone’s minds by the Transformers: Dark of the Moon tie-in Comic Books, Novel and Video Game.

Just when everything seems all fine and dandy, all hell broke loose (seriously, I couldn’t find a better word for the situation) with the information told by Michael Bay Official Website Administrator; Nelson Lauren at S4TE as well as on TFW2005 Boards. He brings to the table some reasons as to why the name Mirage will not appear on the movie.

Nelson says that the Ferrari 458 Italia will be called by another name and will have an Italian Accent. The name itself is now a mystery as Nelson says that the car/Autobot in question is now named after a famous Italian.

At the moment this is highly debatable, but it is best to wait a month and findout the name of the car which Jeremy Clarkson [of Top Gear] once as "the first properly pretty Ferrari since the 308".
