I don't think they should start out "good", or "bad" for that matter. I think they should start out neutral, wanting to keep to themselves, and then something later on forces them to get involved.

As far as I see it, he didn't betray the other cats, he freed them too. While Mumm-Ra was treating them much better than the other animals, I can't imagine serving him came with that many perks. They were still trapped under his tyranny. I think the split, if it at all happened, would have been sometime after the fall of Mumm-Ra, for some other reason. Either way, it's been long enough that I doubt the other group/tribe (assuming there actually is another) has most likely long forgotten about it all by now (it's clear the one's that eventually inhabited Thundera had long forgotten about the past).

Please, let's just agree to disagree. Neither one of us is going to change our opinions, and all this is theoretical till the show continues anyways. No point in continuing to argue over it.
