Oh crap! Hopefully personal info isn't compromised.

Sorry to post about it in this board. But thought it was important if you have an account over there!

That's weird. And why would those idiots put the word terrorist in there? Are they trying to get into more trouble?

I posted about it on the TCL facebook page, but I'm not sure how often any of the mods check it.

I'm not very computer savy, and so this might sounds stupid.
What could hackers possibly gain from hacking a free fan site ?

It's not about gaining anything, it's about doing it because you can. I'm assuming it also makes them feel better about their tiny, tiny d**ks.

...and people say I waste my time with stupid crap...

This sucks. I feel for the people in charge of that site. I hope they don't have to do much to get it back up and running.

I have no power to do anything (not on admin team), but we are aware of it.

While we are a free fan-site, it is still a great target for hackers for several reasons:
1. Many people use the same username/password for multiple sites. If they get in far enough to get that data, they will be using every username/password combo on every financial website they can find, including PayPal, Amazon, etc.
2. E-mail addresses for more hacking... If they pull E-mail addresses, they will send messages to those addresses that ask for users to enter their login and/or personal info to "prevent accidental deletion of their TCL.org account". Because they can target specific users with something they know they use, it has a better chance to succeed than the generic "your loan is past due" E-mails.
3. Hack the site and put malware that will infect any computer that goes to the site. They could be putting viruses, key loggers and other malware on computers trying to access the site.

NOTE: As a precaution, anyone who goes to TCL.org should take some precautions:
1. If you use the same username/password for other sites, especially anything related to money, change your password(s) on those other sites ASAP.
2. Make sure anti-virus and other malware protection is up-to-date and run scans to ensure your computer is malware free (should do that frequently anyway). A good, free malware scanner is Spybot Search & Destroy (The home of Spybot-S&D!).
3. If a malware scan comes back with anything, let the scanner nuke it, reboot, rescan to be certain the scanner got rid of it.
3. Be on the look out for suspicious E-mails, and be extra cautious of E-mails that look legit.

Hopefully this is just someone being stupid because they can. But it is always best to over-react to a security concern. As they say, "better safe than sorry".
