We recently got a chance to have an advanced look at the first release from new third party Transformers group Super Robot Creaticon. Super Robot Creaticon, or SRC, are making a range of Legends class sized pieces which they are calling "Legend Heroes" and their first release is the "Q's Judge". It's a Legends Class scaled Quintesson, and as far as first releases from new third party groups go, it's a very good and strong start. Excellently detailed, the piece captures the menace of the five-faced alien judges from Transformers the Movie and Generation 1 Season 3. There's some nice touches in there too - read on by clicking the discuss link below to check out our full review.

Alternatively, as a picture says more than a thousand words, click on the link below to check out the full gallery for a better look at this new third party piece.

On this latest Game Informer article regarding Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, High Moon Studio tells us about the interactive storytelling of the the upcoming game.

In video games, there is always tension between story and gameplay. Storytelling is traditionally a passive experience, while games are inherently interactive. To help smooth out the integration of these two disparate forms, High Moon starts by looking at the larger story beats and then builds levels around those concepts. “We look at what we absolutely need to tell in our story, and then there is a lot of back and forth between the teams,” Carter says. “Designers approach a game from a standpoint of 'what is fun,' but then we have to steer that back and make sure we’re getting our story across. Making a game is really a lot of back and forth.”

Designers spend a lot of time looking at references during these exchanges, drawing inspiration for how to shape a cohesive story that is also fun to play. “At the time that we started on the Grimlock level the Dead Space 2 demo had just come out, and I told everyone that they had to play the first level of the game,” Carter says. “Because it was scripted, it’s very cinematic, but at the same time they did a lot of things where you’d be walking down the hall and a character would jump out at you and then the camera would zoom around and showcase the animation and sound, but it was all seamless. The player didn’t feel pulled out of the game. That’s good storytelling for games.”

Last year on November 10th, 2010 it was a very special day. I’m sure many of you may remember our “TFW2005 Coverage Of Hasbro Investor Day 2010”. On that day Hasbro decided to reveal quite a lot of their upcoming plans for year 2011 and beyond. That was the very first time we received the news of War For Cybertron 2.

Today, Hasbro sent us a Press Release regarding this year’s event Hasbro Investor Day 2011.

However, we are not exactly sure what Hasbro is planning to do this time because last time they surprised us with many many many things.

Most likely we’ll hear news regarding Hasbro’s plans for the Holiday Season and the upcoming movies G. I. Joe: Retaliation, Stretch Armstrong, Battleship, Micronauts, Candy Land and Ouija.

During the Hasbro 3rd Quarter Earnings Call 2011 CEO Brian Goldner mentioned that they are hoping to tell us about the next Transformers movie very soon.

Here's a fun bit of random Transformers Movie series merchandise for you - Transformers bottle openers that are also USB Drives! These pieces are done in the style of the Autobot and Decepticon symbols, and feature light up "TF3" access indicators when attached to a computer. Plus, they double up as bottle openers. They come in 4 GB and 8 GB flavors. The price might be a bit off-putting though - $33.99 for the 4 GB models.

Currently, the pics don't show them attached to Leader Ironhide's arms. However, the images are only prototypes at the moment. We'll update as more pics come in.

There's no other details right now, other than the fact that the renders show what might be a handle scaled for Masterpiece Rodimus' hand - could this be an unofficial custom Masterpiece Firebolt? Or is the handle just artistic liberty?

Stay tuned for more information.

The recently released Diamond Edition of the Transformers Timelines Stunti-Con Job - which was the comic for Botcon 2011 - came complete with a teaser for Botcon 2012. The teaser shows Reveal the Shield Optimus Prime - with blue eyes, not red, sorry Scourge fans - and comes with the following tagline:

An enemy thought defeated
A power thought to be legend
At Botcon 2012, Earth's survival rests
in the hands of just one robot...

Popular speculation immediately leapt on this as a chance to get the RTS Optimus Prime repainted as RiD Scourge - we've no proof of that or that this is an RiD set unfortunately, as much as we'd all love that.

What we do have a hint at here is that Botcon 2012 will be one of the most epic stories yet, and will be drawing the toy choices for its boxed set from the most recent wave of Classics toys, namely Generations and Reveal the Shield.

Click on the discuss link below to join in the speculation!

Eagle has shared with us some new images of his EKP1012 custom Transformers Kup figure. This piece is basically a custom piece in the style of Jizai Toys' own releases, a poseable toy based on Generation 1 styling, and scaled down to "nano scale". By the look of the photos shared, we're guessing these are more at the garage kit end of the third party spectrum - pretty cool if garage kits are something that interests you.

Check out Eagle's blog for images of some of his other pieces, including a Powerglide, a Steeljaw, a Scourge and a teaser for an Ironhide (and Ratchet by extension).

Transformers Dark of the Moon was real successful, so this headline should not come as too much of a surprise, especially with the recent reports that Hasbro is in talks for Transformers 4.

Italian site Badtaste conducted an interview with Scott Farrar, visual effects supervisor for Transformers Dark of the Moon. One of the questions asked him about the future of the Movie series, and the response that he gave was:

"Transformers 3, Dark of the Moon, was incredibly successful... these are making more money every time, and so success certainly gets people talking, and thinking about we should make another one possibly. Paramount has asked me and I'm willing to do another one, I'm happy to do another one, and they're talking with Michael Bay about that. I don't know if or when it's going to happen exactly, but you know, we'd love to do it."

So, what this tells us about Transformers 4:

Paramount are asking people involved in Dark of the Moon if they would be interested in returning.
Paramount have approached Michael Bay.

What this does not tell us about Transformers 4:

That there is definitely going to be a Transformers 4.
That Michael Bay will be returning, either to direct or in some other role.

This does confirm though that things are moving behind the scenes, and there is an intention to do another live action Transformers movie.

Check out the video by Badtaste below:

As you might have heard, the second of the six Hercules figures from TFC Toys was recently released. Heavy Labor is the second of these not-Constructicons, a Long Haul inspired dump truck with a heavy duty, powerful look to him. He's a pretty solid release all round - not without his flaws, as have been documented - but he combines the look and feel of a late 80s / early 90s Transformer with modern articulation. Along with the first release Exgraver, these two demonstrate that third party Transformer releases need not be excessively fragile and fiddly.

Heavy Labor recently arrived on my doorstep, so I have done a few photos for a gallery to share with you all. I've also got some photos of the first Hercules release, Exgraver, to share - it's a two for one! Check out the full galleries, totaling up at nearly 200 images, by clicking on the links below:

BWTF.com has posted an interview with voice actor, Sumalee Montano. You may know her as Arcee in the Transformers Prime. In the interview she discusses how she got into the world of acting and voice acting, how the two compare and what it's like to record an episode of Transformers Prime.

On a side note, Ben mentions in the interview that she will be doing a voice in the upcoming Transformers Fall of Cybertron video game. This is an interesting tidbit as we reported previously that the developers had no plans to include any female Transformers in the video game.

Click the title bar or the link above to read the full interview and then hit the discuss link to share your thoughts.

I bet you'd forgotten about this one! TFC Toys showed off some early prototypes, ages back now, of a set of WWII inspired tanks and planes intended to beef up the Power Core Combiners with actual transforming limbs. We've not heard a lot since, until now - when a new image has been posted on JonJonZheng's Weibo account, showing the project is still evidently in the works.

No idea on when we will see these released, but if you are a fan of the Power Core Combiners like me, hopefully it'll be worth the wait.

Unicron. He's the big bad of Transformers the Movie, 25 years old this year, and if Transformers Prime's season finale proved anything it's that Unicron is still a big deal whenever he pops up in the franchise. It took over 15 years since Unicron's original debut in Transformers the Movie for him to get a toy, but did you know that even back in 1986 there were plans for a toy release of the Chaos Bringer? You may have seen the prototypes, the few times they have been exhibited publicly - most recently at Botcon 2009.

But what was the toy like? What went into designing Unicron? A recent interview from Transformers Generations 2011 Volume 2 with Koujin Oono, the man who designed that 1986 prototype, reveals some of what went on behind the scenes in the creation of this toy that never saw release - for example, Unicron would have been the first ever Transformer to have had an SFX chip with voice clips - and not just any voice, but the voice of Orson Welles!

Read on for the full interview, translated by SydneyY of our 2005 Boards! Major thanks also to Masabon for his part in the process of making this available to Transformers fans everywhere!

Last week, it was Prime time! Transformers Prime became the dominant category in news, as the toys saw their first release in Asia, resulting in a flood of first proper in hand looks at the toys, largely from HK group Transformers Galaxy. But two other big things showed up last week - first was a confirmation, from the Dark of the Moon visual effects supervisor, that Paramount is indeed approaching members of the team to find out if they are available, should a fourth movie be greenlit. Second was our first real hint at Botcon 2012's theme and toys. No word on dates or location yet, though.

Big Bad Toy Store sent us a note letting us know that the early Transformers Prime toys are now up for pre-order. Also of note...

An important note about this line that we’d like you to pass on to your readers. This line is more or less a specialty market exclusive. It will not be at Walmart, Target, or K-Mart, so will be much harder to find at retail than previous series. BBTS will be carrying the full lineup, get your preorders in and you can count on us to fill your order.

You can check out the preorder pages here:

Well that's just Prime.

Hot on the heels of the preorders of the preview wave for Transformers Prime going up, we have a pair of images from HK-TF regarding showing off what might be the most highly anticipated toy from the line so far: Voyager Optimus Prime, from Transformers Prime. Aside from the robot mode shot of the Transformers Prime Voyager Class Optimus Prime, we have a comparison shot between the SDCC Transformers Prime Deluxe Class Optimus Prime with the previously mentioned Voyager Prime from the Transformers Prime line, which is now available to preorder through BBTS.

In a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, James Roberts and John Barber discuss some of their plans for the two new upcoming Transformers #1s, Robots in Disguise and More than Meets the Eye. Some of the topics covered include the main themes of the series, and some of the characters we are going to be seeing. More than Meets the Eye is described as a "team book" with a core cast of 10, in the style of Transformers does Avengers. It's an adventure that takes Rodimus and his crew across the stars. Robots in Disguise meanwhile focuses on Bumblebee and Cybertron, and the issues of a massive returning non-aligned population, and the position that puts him in.

Also discussed is some more on "The Death of Optimus Prime", revealed here to have originally been intended to be named the non-spoiler title "Schism" before X-Men took the title.

A new image has been posted on ACToys by user chabor. The new image, from SRC Toys, shows two different Galvatron linearts, both based on his IDW incarnations. The image is tagged with We finished the design sketch in 2000 June. What shall we do now?, and Chabor goes on to state that SRC has many designs set aside for their next project, of which the pictured Galvatron is but one.

No indication is given of the size of this possible third party Galvatron, which I believe is important - SRC's previous release was a Legends Class Quintesson - and all indications suggest they intend to carry on at this scale.

We'll update you with more information as it becomes available.

The upcoming Guttu Kuru figure collection Minerva from CMs Corp was on display at the Kanazawa Japan Toy Fair. Some pictures from the event are up on Cybergundam's blog. The new images do not give much new insight into the figure, as she is stood in a static pose, although you can see all the accessory parts (namely, the helmet and different faces). One thing that is better visible compared to previous images is the break at the top of the legs for hip joints, indicating that yes, this figure does have hip articulation - just well-concealed hip articulation.

Click on the link to see some other items on display including an SD Mugen Caliber - Generation 1 Roadbuster to us fans - as well as some other, non-Transformers related items.

It's not just Transformers Prime's Preview series that has been released in Hong Kong - newly released are the next two Transformers Generations toys, the so called "last of 2011", Sky Shadow and Junkheap. Some in hand images of Junkheap, showing the new head, have been posted over at HK-TF.com. An in hand image of Sky Shadow has also been posted up, and comes to us via The Allspark.

I've got it on good authority that these are headed out to certain online stores and specialty retailers as we speak - they should hopefully be making their way into the piles of loot of Transformers fans within the next couple of weeks or so - just in time for Christmas!

Good news everyone! Cybertron.ca is getting multiple sighting reports from Ontario, Canada where several of their board members are finding the new 1st Edition Transformers Prime figures at retail. Cybertron.ca board members Crobat91, Teruo313, Boyblue & CobraCommander have reported finding the Entertainment Pack with Megatron, Prime and the kids as well as the first few deluxe figures including Arcee, Bumblebee and Starscream.

Hopefully, this means a US release won't be far behind! Keep your eyes on your local TRU's!
