NECA has posted a nice update on their plans for their Alien and Aliens toys. Big news coming from this is that NECA is doing a line based on Prometheus!

The 2012 Alien and Aliens Line – Everything That We Can Share

Xenomorphs have been around us for over 30 years now. Many iterations have taken this aggressive race to become icons of Horror, Suspense, and even Adventure, and as so, caused many folks with an acute taste to want these creatures in their collections.

NECA’s made several Alien action figures, from almost all of the films in the franchise, including the most recent Aliens Vs Predator:Requiem. This year, we’re bringing even more figures, and we wanted to answer a few of your questions.

New Aliens Warrior Action Figure
From James Cameron’s “Aliens” film, we’re releasing an all new Warrior figure, with removable limbs, fully articulated, and about 9″ tall.

The 2 Colonial Marines
Aboard the warship Sulaco, Ripley is introduced to a team of Colonial Marines, one of which is Corporal Dwayne Hicks. This year, we’ll bring Hicks to life, fully articulated, at about 7″ tall, along with another Colonial Marine, which we’re not yet ready to reveal the identity of.

You can expect the Warrior Aliens to have clean and battle damaged versions and both blue and brown highlights for variety when army building your hive.

1/4 Scale Original Alien Figure
From the 1979 original Ridley Scott film, we’re preparing a release of the 1/4 scale Alien figure. This is the classic Xeno, with the clear dome. Yes – a gorgeously gross Classic Alien that stands over 22inches tall and is fully articulated.

We’ve done a Classic Alien 18-Inch Action Figure in the past, so expect improvements including the enormous figure packaged fully assembled and this Xeno will have new and improved deco over the original release from 2008.

About The Alien Queen Action Figure
Hey, we love the Queen too. She’s one of the scariest, meanest looking creatures in film history. But currently, she’s only in our wishlists. There’s a slight possibility we’ll get to her in 2013, but there’s nothing confirmed yet. One of the reasons we’re not getting to the Queen this year is because…

A Prometheus Line is Coming Up This Summer
We’re extremely excited about the upcoming film from Ridley Scott and have our hands full with a new line of figures. We’ll probably be able to show some Prometheus sculpts by the end of June.

Future For The Lines
We asked on Facebook and Google+ what fans wanted to know about the license and a lot of the questions were about its continuity, if we’re doing a full set of Colonials, etc..

Honestly, it all depends on how well sales go and what our production schedule permits. We are very excited to finally bring you Colonial Marines from Aliens and we hope to bring you a Queen in 2013.

As you’ve seen with Predators, when our fans love it and buy the figures, we expand the line and make more of them.

Did anyone think they would have all of the Lost Preds in figure form?

The Disney Parks Website has revealed that some new Star Wars Disney action figures will be released in March.

New action figures featuring Disney characters playing characters from the Star Wars universe are due to arrive at Disney Parks in March. We first showed artwork of these figures in August 2010 (good things come to those who wait!). I spoke with Cody Hampton, developer for Toys and Games, to learn about their development.

“We’ve been working on the wave five figures for more than two years,” explained Cody. “We originally wanted to release them last year at Star Wars Weekends. With so much great new development for Star Tours: The Adventures Continue at that time, we pushed out [the action figures] release date to spring 2012. I’m thrilled to see these figures arriving soon as they are some of my favorites.”

Cody has been involved with development of the Disney character Star Wars action figures since series three. His favorite figure in the series is Donald Duck as the Clone Trooper, Commander Cody (how fitting!). I like Donald Duck’s nephews as Jawas (probably because I dressed like a Jawa for Halloween when I was five – still my favorite costume of all time).

Disney Design Group artist Mike Sullivan drew the first sketches for the characters in this series. Then senior character artist Casey Jones used those sketches to create the technical drawings shared with the manufacturer. Cody explained that collaboration between Disney and Lucasfilm was a key ingredient for success.

“The Lucasfilm team was great collaborative partners,” said Cody. “We first thought Stitch would be perfect to play the bounty hunter Cad Bane from ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ animated series because he had blue skin like Bane’s character. The Lucasfilm team suggested turning Goofy blue to play Bane and save Stitch for General Grievous. In the end, this worked better from a character design since Stitch has four arms like Grievous’ character.”

The figures will be released at locations in Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Unfortunately, they will not be available via the Disney Parks Online Store. If you aren’t visiting the parks soon, you can also contact Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Merchandise Guest Services at 1-877-560-6477 or email merchandiseguestservices@disney.go.com once they are released.

Wanted to alert our regular members and full-time lurkers that we have reorganized the forums on Toyark.com a bit to further streamline your time-wasting, I mean hobby enjoyment, here.

First off, the following forums have been removed (though all threads still exist):
  • DC - Toys, Comics, Movies/TV, General
  • MOTU - Toys, Cartoon, General
  • Star Wars - Toys, Movies/TV, Comics, General
  • Video Games and Movies - Toys
  • One Line Per Thread
  • Welcome to the Toyark
All TOY discussion from the DC, MOTU, Star Wars and Video Games/Movie sub-forums have been moved to Action Figure General Discussion. So the threads are there, they are just in a new spot.

All the off topic discussion for Movies, TV and Video Games from all over the site have been moved into our new "Fandom Related" forums. Since we all collect toys here, and most of the toys come from some form of media - we figured having dedicated areas for that might be worth a shot. You can check those out here - Movies TV and Cartoon Discussion, Comic Books and Graphic Novels Discussion, Video Game Discussion.

We have kept the Marvel Toys forum intact. There is a strong Marvel fan base here and we wanted to continue to nurture that. It now resides in Tier 1 of the forum structure along with AFGD and News & Rumors.

We have also moved the Reviews and Feedback forum up top, as we'd like to see more of your reviews - text, pictorial and video. We will feature some of the best ones on the front page from time to time.

The Creative area has also been moved higher in the forum structure. Keep showing off those kick ass customs!

In summary, we have condensed the forum structure. Marvel keeps it's own sub-forum for now, because the traffic demands it. All the other forums listed above that have been cut were very slow in forum activity terms, so we moved the threads into our Action Figure General Discussion. If any particular line (DC, MOTU, Star Wars, etc) overpowers the flow of the AFGD in the future, where discussion of those topics push other discussion down the page regularly, we will split the threads back out into it's own sub forum.

The Toyark is a place for those that collect multiple lines, from multiple companies. There are other great sites that are specific to particular lines, and we understand that. So instead of sectioning everyone off in their discussion, we are going to embrace our "everything-ness", and let the discussion of all things toys take place in basically one spot - Action Figure General Discussion. That's the logic behind all this. We hope you like it, or can accept it, and don't start a digital riot. :)

Let us know your thoughts by clicking discuss!... [Read More]

An item that was almost overlooked thanks to the craziness of ToyFair was the official reveal of the Lego Minecraft Micro World set at Lego World Copenhagen. This set started as an idea on the Lego Cuusoo community site and received 10000 supporting votes to bring attention to the idea. The original creators of sets/ideas that are pushed through to production earn 1% of the total net sales of the product. Minecraft developer, Mojang, has stated that they will be donating their 1% that they receive to charity.

The set will be available for purchase this summer in select Lego brand retail stores and the Lego online shop. It can be preordered right now though, exclusively through Mojang retail partner Jinx and will set you back $34.95.

AFX has revealed they will be carrying a Wondercon 2012 Exclusive Art FX Star Wars Shock Troopers 2-Pack by Kotobukiya.

A KOTOBUKIYA Japanese import! Star Wars ARTFX+ Statues bring you all of the quality and detailing that you expect from an ARTFX release in a great smaller scale perfect for collecting! Following in the footsteps of the sold out Stormtrooper Commander 2 Pack is the latest elite version of the Clone Troopers as seen in Revenge of the Sith, the SHOCK TROOPER 2 PACK!

Cloned on Kamino in secret and ready to bring the fight to the Separatists on behalf of the Republic, the Clone Troopers are quite a sight! Of course, not just any clones are worthy to protect the Republic homeworld of Coruscant; for that duty the army created the Shock Troopers. Outfitted in standard Clone Trooper armor, these elite security forces were immediately recognizable by their bold red markings, the same that differentiate these ARTFX+ statues from the clones that came before them! Perfect miniature versions of the onscreen characters, these dynamic Clone Trooper repaints have fully detailed armor and weapons. Both included Shock Troopers come with multiple arm and leg parts giving you a variety of poses to choose from, and they’re ready for battle with both DC-15S blaster carbines and DC-15A blaster rifles! Finally, like the other ARTFX+ Star Wars figures the elite units have magnets in their feet for display on included bases.

ARTFX+ Statues are fun-to-assemble pre-painted snap-fit kits that can be easily put together in seconds without glue or modeling skill. The Shock Troopers stand just over 7 inches tall (1/10th scale) and come ready for battle. Limited to only 500 pieces, these clones are perfect for guarding your collection! Sold exclusively at Wondercon (Anaheim Convention Center, March 16-18), the Shock Troopers will be available at the Action Figure Xpress booth #457.

Gundam Wing is arguably the most popular Gundam series to be shown in the USA, and it was the 1st line of Gundam action figures released to mass market in American stores. If you collected the Mobile Suit In Action(MSiA!) line, the Bluefin Tamashii Facebook page has posted a possibly not-so-subtle hint at an upcoming Robot Damashii SIDE MS Wing Gundam Zero figure...

The Wing Gundam Zero Custom from Endless Waltz was released awhile back in the line. However, it's been a while since the Gundam Wing TV designs got some love in action figure form(last seen in the HCMpro line a few years back). Wing Zero may be the 1st TV Gundam Wing design in the Robot Damashii SIDE MS line, but who could be next?... [Read More]

Tamashii Nations has revealed their next DX Macross Frontier toy, the 1/60 scale DX VF171EX Nightmare Plus! The VF171EX debuted halfway through the Macross F TV series, when Alto and Luka temporarily left SMS.

While the VF171 was optimized for the atmosphere(and easier to fly than the VF17) and seen as a cheaper alternative to the VF19 Excalibur, the EX version was an upgrade that boosted its capabilities to rival the VF17 Nightmare(which it was derived from). Nonetheless, it still lacked in capability compared to the VF25 Messiah, as pointed out by Alto.

The DX VF171 has been in demand since the DX Macross F line was 1st launched by Tamashii in late 2008. No word on the cannon fodder VF-171 or Luka's EX and FAST packs yet, but stay tuned! The DX VF171EX Alto Custom is scheduled for release in June 2012 for ¥14,700. In the meantime, check out a larger image after the jump!... [Read More]

NECA has released some new photos and details for the upcoming Life-Size Portal Gun Replica.

Rumours about us making this absolutely awesome replica have been around since we announced our partnership with Valve last year, and quite honestly, we’re happy to finally announce its release.

But news leaked last week that the life-size Portal gun replica that we’re making would cost approximately $208 and that pre-orders were already available.

First, we’d like to thank those who have already shown interest in pre-ordering it. You guys are awesome, and we have even better news for you – we’re estimating MSRP for the replica in the U.S. at a lower price. The $208 price is if you plan to order it from Japan (not including shipping).

Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device
Chell’s weapon of choice, accurately named Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device, should start to appear in your favorite toy stores around April. We’re only making 5000 replicas, so this is a very limited run. You can expect them to sell out very quickly.

Here are some more details:

- Dimensions: 30″ in length
- Support: the replica rests fine on flat surfaces and does not ship with a base or stand.
- Features: both orange and blue LED lights and unique sounds that correspond to each color.
- Sounds: The lovely “portal-creating” sound we’ve become used to

A 3 way switch allows you to select blue, orange or off and when you pull the trigger you activate the ”firing” and sound. It requires 3 “C” batteries, not included.

MOAR Portal Goodies?
Dont forget to check out the highly popular Portal Companion Cube plush we released last year. It’s a great addition to your Portal collection.

Retailers – some restrictions apply. Please see the Portal Replica product page for more info.

ToyArk.com is proud to present our forth Marvel Legends figure "KLAW", in an on-going photo review series of the Wave 1 Marvel Legends 2012 Terrax Series action figures.

KLAW is depicted as a human physicist who has been transformed into solid sound, and who wears a sonic emitter on his right wrist as a prosthetic device. He has often been shown in conflict with the Fantastic Four and the Avengers and is a major adversary of the Black Panther and Ka-Zar. What madness drives this genius who turned his own body into living sound?

Tales of Terrax Part 4 of 6!

Terrax, released from his service to Galactus, lay helpless on Earth, broken and powerless. Victor Von Doom saw just a pawn he needed to finally defeat the Fantastic Four. The brilliant DR. DOOM kidnapped the former herald and restored a small dose of his cosmic power, building in a trigger that would destroy Terrax after he had served his purpose. Terrax vanquished the Four and then overwhelmed Von Doom, laying waste to the madman's mad plan. Freed from Galactus with no rival in sight, the Tamer would rise once more!

The day ThreeA fans and Metal Gear Solid fans have been waiting for since 2009 is finally here. Metal Gear Solid Rex is now available for preorder at ThreeA's online store Bambaland.

MGS Rex stands close to two feet tall, has working lights (including a light-up railgun feature), and will run you $490 shipped from Hong Kong (if ordered through Bambaland). Again that is $490 shipped, for a very large and heavy package from Hong Kong. The have said that Rex will ship out in August.

It was revealed via Tweets, Facebook messages, and through the 3A Legion Forums that MGS Rex will also be made available through Sideshow Collectibles, so those who miss out on today's sale at Bambaland will have a second chance to secure this highly sought after collectible at that time (though most likely will not be $490 shipped). Anyone interested should head over to Bambaland right now and get your order in (there's only a few hours left of the sale), or stay tuned for news on when the preorders will be available at Sideshow!... ThreeA Toys have posted an update to their 3A Legion Forums in regards to an upcoming release that has been teased for a while now, 2000 AD Ro-Jaws! For those who have never heard of it, Ro-Jaws is a character that comes out of the 2000 AD universe (the same anthology that gave us the Judge Dredd character).

2000 AD Ro-Jaws will go on sale March 22nd at 9:00 AM Hong Kong time (which is 8:00 PM US Central time) at ThreeA's online shop, Bambaland. Ro-JAWS has arm articulation, "squishy" feel tires, a front panel that hides turds (he is a municipal sewage robot after all), and measures 20cm tall. And did I mention it comes with a 1/6th scale turd?... [Read More]
