Who here has a Grune? Go get it now. Okay, hold it under a bright light and take a look at the chest symbol and start to rotate it around. Do you see the Thundercats symbol that has been painted over by the Mum-Ra symbol?

Today I was in Toys R Us and noticed that the Grune there had his symbol painted over with the Mum-Ra symbol. I came home and checked mine and it was the same way. I'm curious if anyone else has this on theirs.

This is leading me to think that all the Grunes were originally painted with the wrong symbol and maybe they caught the mistake. I know people on here have contacted Bandai but I'm just wondering if it truly was a mistake that they passed off as a variant. Maybe the first batch went out to stores before they could fix it. Who knows. But I'm curious if they are all like this.

If you look closely at my pic, you can just see the outline of the cat's head. It's hard because mine is still in the box and not as close as it could be. That's why I am wanting people to get theirs and check too.You almost have to hold it at a 45 degree angle to see it, but its there.

Thanks for the pic and info. I have highlighted the symbol so it can be seen clearer.

Thanks Joe for highlighting that! Awesome!

I'm still on the lookout for the thundercats variant symbol Grune to add to my collection. Plus, I'm really hoping on the cartoon he goes good again!

Probably the reason, Grune was packed in such small quantities...they had to go back and repaint all his symbols...oooopsie!

I checked mine and the paintjob is pretty solid on the emblem. I can see a few dollops of paint that seem indicative of a paintover but cant actually make out what was underneath. Mine is also still in package so a better shot was hard to get.

I checked out my Grune tonight and saw that it indeed had the Eye of Thundera underneath it.

VERY cool!

I'm not sure if it really is a mistake. I think it might be a nod to the fact he's a traitor who once wore the T-Cats symbol. It could also be for a potential repaint of right before he turned traitor, or for re-uses of his body mold for other characters. With as much thought as went into this line, I'd like to lean on it's an intentional nod to his traitor status, but you never know with these big companies and some of the goofs that slide through.

Is the emblem a separate piece they glue in there or is it actually sculpted with the rest of the torso? If it's the former I would think they just use the same circular piece for every figure and just paint over Grune's.

I definitely saw the Cats emblem underneath the Mum-Ra emblem. So now it goes from variant to running change???

I checked my Grune last night and it appears the emblem circle is molded to Grunes armor.

Also, I was able to see the Thundercats logo under the snake logo.

IndyCat, I live in Indianapolis too! We should coordinate on where the toys are at and who has what in stock, especially when Wave 2 comes out.

Do you know anywhere around that has some orginal series toys for sale? The only place I know is the vintage toy store in Kokomo.
