I know there are actors that look like they could play the roles (Michael Clarke Duncan as Panthro), but in your opinion, who would make a good cast?

EDIT: My next most has a more detailed list.

I'm very much against a live action Thundercats, but just for fun.

Lion-O- Chris Evans. (has the body and proved in Captain America that he doesn't always have to act silly. )
Cheetara-Skyler Samuels (check out Chloe King. Nuff said.)
Tygra- Brandon Routh (can do quiet and thoughtful, but has done action movies; first choice would've been Heath Ledger)
Panthro- Vin Diesel (tough guy with a sense of humor, and definitely has the look.)
Mumm-Ra- Christopher Lee (did an awesome Skeletor in Masters of the Universe)

Now that you mentioned it, Brandon Routh as Tygra would be interesting.

Hugo Weaving as Mumm-Ra and Brandon Routh as Tygra are great choices I never even considered before.

I'd be all for Charlize Theron (whom I always wanted to see play Catwoman, by the way) as Cheetara. My longtime favorite for Panthro is Laurence Fishburne. After viewing his stellar performance as Freddy Krueger, Jackie Earle Haley, I believe, could also be a viable candidate for Mumm-Ra. Oh, and Jeremy Irons or Liam Neeson for Jaga, please.

Lion-O: Chris Evans for sure
Tygra: Garrett Hedlund (especially if they keep his characterization from the new series)
Cheetarah: Yvonne Strahovski. If any of you have ever seen "Chuck" you know I'm right.
Panthro: Michael Jai White. 'Nuff said.
Wily Kat and Kit: This may sound silly but Jaden and Willow Smith. I really like Jaden but as for his sister I'm not sure but I think it could work. Plus it would sort of be like that Smith family ThunderCats movie rumor!
Mumm-Ra: There really are very few choices regarding this matter and the fact that Hugo Weaving was thrown out there doesn't surprise me. However since I'm an "out-of-the-box" thinker I'm going to go with Andy Serkis. Unconventional I know but I'm an unconventional guy. Anyway that's my list.

Here's another pick I have for a cast:

Lion-O: Craig Horner
Tygra: Orlando Bloom
Cheetara: Alice Eve
Panthro: Peter Mensah
Jaga: Bruce Spence
King Claudus: Liam Neeson
Lynx-O: John Hurt
Bengali: Tom Hardy
Pumyra: Brooke Williams
WilyKat: Will Dunn
WilyKit: Jordana Beatty
Snarf (Voice): Satomi Korogi
Mumm-Ra: Hugo Weaving
Grune: Michael Jai White
Slithe: Michael Byrne

Director: Guillermo del Toro or Terry Gilliam

Rating: PG-13 (In the US)

He did such a great job that he's taking credit for the awesome Frank Langella's job as skeletor.

When did Christopher Lee play Skeletor? The movie Skeletor was Frank Langella. :]

Brandon Routh would be a killer Tygra!

also I think Jennifer Lawrence (X-Men First Class and Hunger Games) would make a good Cheetara.

Wait, wasn't that Frank Langella? Yes I am THAT old. I was disappointed with that movie much as I loved He-Man.

A bit of a late entry I know but I just had to get in on this ... My dream cast for movie would be ...

lion-o - Chris Hemsworth

Tygra - Hugh jackman

Panthro - definately Michael Clarke Duncan or terry crews

Cheetara - salma Hayak or scarlet johansen

Wiley kit/kat - really don't care as I hate them both classic and new lol

Jaga - I definately agree with liam neeson or Jeremy irons (good call)

Mumm-ra - Willam Dafoe (he'd be so awesome as the decayed form)

Monkian - Ron Pearlman

Jackalman - the dude who played Loki in thor (cant remember his name)

Slithe - jack Nicholson (although he may be a bit old for it now)

I'd love to see Stallone in there somewhere too but not quite sure who he could actually play convincingly (perhaps drunk tygra lol).

For Lion O I would like to see Jason Momoa because in my opinion he already has an animalistic feel to him, assuming it would be based on the 80s Thundercats.

I agree with Terry Crews as Panthro and Hugh Jackman as Tygra.

Cheetara in my opinion is pretty much open although I wouldn't the actress that played
Deja Thoris in the new John Carter movie.

I wasn't suggesting Panthro was a muscled idiot (infact he was and still is my favorite character) but I was going by image more than personality .... I'm sure a big muscled idiot as you say could still read a script and learn to sound intelligent for a particular role (thanks for the stereotype by the way ) we bodybuilders aren't all idiots you know lol
I do happen to own all of the original series and watched it religiously as a child so I'm quite well aware of Panthros other skills. (earle Hyman the voice actor was actually very heavily into Shakespeare) perhaps we could add that to Panthros list of skills or have him quote a few lines of Macbeth in the fantasy movie hehehe

Sorry Im aware I'm acting like a bit of a tool so just ignore me.

i was more referring to terry crews as an idiot not body builders. i just feel like michael jai white would be a perfect actor to play panthro in a live action flick. but since there never will be one it doesnt matter. all just opinion.

Jai white is a good pick .... Similar face to panthro.
But yeah I think they were makin a movie pending on the success of the cartoon which obviously has tanked. That probably meant they were gonna base it off the new series anyway which would have sucked .
