Hey DC Fans! Our buddies over at TheFwoosh were kind enough to pass on some great loose shots of the entire second wave of Batman Legacy figures!

As we know, Wave 2 consists of:

Batman w/ Batmite (Earth-2)
Batgirl
Catman

Catman is the only completely new figure in the series. He features the standard male legs, the belt trunks and the larger upper body and arms in his make-up. The Four Horsemen paid some real attention to detail with this figure, even going so far as to giving him the bulkier chest, he was pretty bulked up in those Gail Simone Secret Six comics. He comes with some new pieces, including a new sculpted belt, pointy shoes and cape straps. The head sculpt is awesome and I love the addition of the 5-o'clock shadow. The figure features excellent paint work, including some superb air brushing and nice crisp lines and overall chest symbol. He also comes with some neat looking claws that fit pretty well, although not perfectly flush, on his knuckles. I must agree with The Fwoosh when they say this figure, along with Owlman, easily belong on this year's Top 10, and overall, best pair of DCUC figures to date!

Batman (Earth-2) is the second figure in the line. He utilizes parts from past Batman figures, but sports a new, smiling head sculpt and will perfectly fit alongside your JSA pieces. It's pretty obvious that the popular Batman: The Brave and the Bold show was a big reason we finally got both this piece and the Golden Age Joker and I think that's great! Batman also features the first Batman Legacy pack-in companion - Batmite. He looks good and I love his cowl with the one askewed ear! No other accessories are included, but this is one awesome 2-pack I am sure DC and BTBATB fans will snatch off the pegs quickly!

A repainted Batgirl (Barbara Gordan) rounds things out in the second Batman Legacy Wave. She looks great in her new, glossy black costume and although I really wasn't crazy about the figure when it was first revealed, I have changed my mind and will most deffinetly be picking her up. Yeah, she's a straight up reapint with no accessories, short of a display stand, but it's Babs Gordan and this new cosutme really works on her.

There you have it, a line that outdoes the first in every way if you ask me! Catman is amazing and the K-Mart exclusive Earth-2 Batman / Batmite combo pack have sealed the deal for me, and throwing in a newly repainted Batgirl is just a nice bonus! All 3 of these pieces are highly recommended and I hope we will see more Legacy DCUC figures in the near future!

Enjoy the attached shots, thanks to TheFwoosh!... [Read More]

Kotobukiya's Facebook Page has added photos of their upcoming Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Christie Monteiro Bishoujo Statue. We had originally seen the statue at the Kotobukiya San Diego Comic-Con 2011 Booth.

A Kotobukiya Japanese import! With its thrilling martial arts action, the Tekken series of video games from Namco has been a huge hit with players since the original arcade game in 1994. In the games, fighters compete in the King of Iron Fist tournament for control of the Mishima Zaibatsu corporation, using their unique talents against their opponents. Kotobukiya is proud to present the first Tekken Bishoujo Statue, Christie Monteiro! The exotic capoeira master is based on an illustration by renowned Japanese artist Shunya Yamashita, known for his video game character designs and beautiful illustrations.

The Brazilian fighter embodies beauty and martial arts skill, and she’s never looked better! Christie wears one of her signature outfits from the game series, a variation on traditional capoeira pants that’s little more than thigh high bell bottoms and a detailed braided belt that leaves her panties exposed. Her top is incredibly revealing as well, consisting of a band that covers only a small portion of her breasts. That costume would be sexy on its own, but add to that Christie’s pose and you’ve got the hottest Tekken lady ever! The capoeira master performs one of her unique moves, balancing on her right leg with the left tucked beneath her. Christie rotates at the waist with her arms extended, her body a fluid wave of motion.

Sculpted by Busujimax (Takaboku Busujima), Christie stands nearly 10 inches tall (1/7 scale) on her special display base. Display this fighting beauty in your collection and enjoy her great look down to the translucent pvc used for realistic hair detail!

Available February 2012.

Thanks to The Fwoosh, we have some awesome shots of the newly released DCUC Mad Love 2-pack, which has started showing up at Toys R Us in the US.

The figures within are exact copies of their first release counterparts, although Joker sports a new suit and Harley Quinn finally has a properly painted face without the blue shadowing.

All the accessories, Harley's mallet and pop-gun and Joker's mallet, cane, playing cards and laughing fish, are included within the set, so if this is your first Joker and Harley Quinn, you get all the accessories from their original releases.

Articulation on Joker takes a slight hit over the Wave 10 original from 2009, as his neck is stiffer and doesn't have the full range of motion the Wave 10 version did. Also, his new coat is a much stiffer plastic, which seems to hinder the ab movement. The rocker ankles are also missing, giving this Joker a much stiffer stance than the original.

Paint is good as well. As mentioned, the blue shading on Harley Quinn is gone, although a nice subtle wash around the eyes is present. Her face is a much nicer shade of white this time, as is Jokers. The pinstripes on Joker's pants is also a nice, subtle affect.

Packaging is done up in the same style as the Tango with Evil painting done by Alex Ross, which inspired this set and looks great if you're a MISB collector. If not, no need to worry about the pose warping limbs on the figures as they are packaged in a way that prevents this from happening.

All in all, this is a great set. It has some small flaws, but they can easily be overlooked considering all that you get within this 2-pack. Highly recommended, even if you already have Joker and Harley figures. They're improvements, for the most part, over their original releases, all the accessories are present and the packaging is aces all around!

Enjoy the attached shots of this TRU exclusive supplied by our buddies over at The Fwoosh!... [Read More]

MattyCollector has updated their Facebook Page with some new photos of Masters Of The Universe Classics Shadow Weaver.

He-Fans and She-Ravers,

As you know we've extended the subscription purchase deadline to August 14th. If you haven't decided yet to purchase a 2012 Club Eternia® subscription, perhaps this might give you that little extra info you need… Presenting our subscription-only figure, the first ever Shadow Weaver! That's right, through an all-new licensing deal with our partners at Classic Media, we are able for the first time to offer characters from the classic vintage Filmation animated series (of both He-Man and She-Ra!) in the MOTUC line (who says we don't listen to the fans!).

This new deal happened so recently that we were in a scramble to get a Filmation character out there for early 2012. After talking it over with the brand team and the Four Horsemen, we decided to go for the gold ring and offer what is quite possibly the most fan-demanded figure ever as our first Eternia exclusive in 2012 - the one and only Shadow Weaver!

The ONLY way to get Shadow Weaver guaranteed is to subscribe to 2012 Club Eternia. Your sign-up fee of $20.00 covers the cost of Hordak's most recent head witch, as well as a bonus map poster of Preternia (plus shipping/taxes/fees). Shadow Weaver will never be sold separately and is only available as the club figure for 2012 subscribers.

Shadow Weaver comes complete with a clear "floating" base, magic wand and magic book (not shown) and she is almost a completely new tool. (Only her shoulders are shared!)

Shadow Weaver includes a staff and a clear "floating" stand. She will also come with a green magic book (not shown). The book does not open, it is like the book that came with Orko.

Don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime chance to own the evil witch of the Horde. Bring our first Filmation character Shadow Weaver home by subscribing to Club Eternia for 2012! Remember, subscriptions are only available through August 14th, so don't wait. Get all the details on Mattycollector.com today!

Art Asylum has revealed some new Age Of X Marvel Minimates. They are coming to comic and specialty shops in a four figure boxset. they will include Magneto, Basilisk, Legacy and Gambit.

There’s an old saying: “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, then it must be that Xavier kid mucking about with reality again.” Professor X’s son Legion has already created one divergent reality when he went back in time and iced his own dad (you may remember it as the awesome Age of Apocalypse — thanks, Legion!), but he created another one, the Age of X, when Doctor Nemesis tried to heal his fragmented mind. Since the AoA versions of the X-Men Minimates have been so popular, we decided to give the Age of X its own box set, featuring Rogue (a.k.a. Legacy), Cyclops (a.k.a. Basilisk), Magneto and Gambit! Look for it in comic and specialty shops this fall.

MattyCollector's Facebook Page has revealed that next years 3 variant Masters Of The Universe Classics figures will come with new pack-in comics. The best part? They are picking up the story from the old pack-ins.

Have you heard about the all new 2012 MOTUC Mini Comics?!

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of MOTU, through a special one-time grant from Mattel design, we commissioned three all new Mini Comics from Dark Horse comics that will be packed in with the first three 2012 MOTU Quarterly Variant figures!

This all new mini series will feature a story by Scott “Toy Guru” Neitlich, script by Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash) art by Wellington Alves and covers by Eric Powell (The Goon).

The first issue is a “retelling” of the final vintage MOTU mini comic “The Powers of Grayskull pt 1”. As some fans know, originally this was a three-part comic that would have set up the 1987 line with He-Ro and Preternia. Alas, only part one ever shipped! As part of our 30th anniversary program we are "making it up to fans" and picking up the three-issue series and completing it for the first time. Part two and three will pick up the story and take it to new places and new battles never before seen! You are in for one wild ride!

The first issue will be packed in with Thunder Punch He-Man in March 2012. Issue 2 will come out in June with that month’s quarterly variant and will wrap up with issue 3 with the September quarterly variant. The comics will be packed out right behind the figure just like the vintage days!

Yet another great reason to purchase a Club Eternia subscription for 2012! The mini comics will come with both the sub and day-of-sale figures, but the best way to guarantee you get all the great figures and all three issues is to head over to Mattycollector.com and pick up a 2012 Club Eternia subscription (and you’ll get the exclusive Shadow Weaver and Preternia map too, only for subscribers!). Remember their will be slightly fewer "day of" sales in 2012 so the 2012 Club Eternia subscription is highly recommended to guarantee your figures.

Check out the cover and page one below! For the rest of the issue, you’ll need to wait for Thunderpunch He-Man our first quarterly variant figure in March!

Kotobukiya's Facebook Page has posted official photos of their upcoming Star Wars: A New Hope Obi-Wan Kenobi ArtFX Statue.

A Kotobukiya Japanese import! Kotobukiya’s amazing line of Star Wars ARTFX Statues is back, bringing the heroes and villains of the Star Wars universe to life in dynamic 1/7th scale statues. Following the release of Darth Vader comes the original Jedi and hero of the first Star Wars film, Obi-Wan Kenobi A New Hope!

Left alone to watch over young Luke Skywalker on Tatooine, Obi-Wan Kenobi was a powerful Jedi and former galactic hero. When the time came he took up his lightsaber once again to help train the young man and it brought him into direct conflict with the Empire and Darth Vader aboard the first Death Star! Obi-Wan wields both lightsaber and the Force in a battle stance that’s defensive and yet powerful at the same time, a Kotobukiya original pose! The Jedi has never looked so good with an incredibly detailed sculpt that captures his intricate flowing robes as well as his Alec Guinness-inspired head sculpt. Obi-Wan comes with two different hoods for your choice of display options: up or down. And that’s not all; Kenobi’s iconic blue lightsaber contains an LED for brilliant illumination of this elegant weapon from a more civilized age.

Sculpted by Busujimax (Takaboku Busujima), Obi-Wan Kenobi stands approximately 10 inches tall (1/7th scale) on an exclusive display base that’s reminiscent of the Death Star flooring. The elder Jedi will look great in your Star Wars collection, especially with his light up lightsaber!

Available February 2012.

Art Asylum has revealed a new line of Minimates. These are based on their Femme Fatales figures.

We here at Diamond Select Toys believe in equality among toys. So when we realized that most of our Minimates lines were overwhelmingly male, we decided to make up for it by giving the women their own assortment! Springing out of our Femme Fatales line of statues, two four-figure box sets are planned so far, with the first set hitting stores in September. Set 1 features comic book luminaries Lady Death, Darkchylde, Tarot and Dawn, while Set 2 showcases some of DST’s own character designs: Anne Bonny, Medusa, Alice and Little Red. All stand 2 inches tall with 14 points of articulation, and all are compatible with existing Minimates lines like MAX and Pirate Raiders — so you can have Anne Bonny join Calico Jack’s pirate crew!

Hey Star Wars fans! Fan's of Boba Fett will be able to get their hands on another exciting mail away of the galaxies most feared bounty hunter this year! The Prototype Armor Boba Fett, based off an early concept version of the character used for The Empire Strikes Back, will only be available through mail-away starting in late 2011-early 2012. As with past promotions, UPC's from mass retail figures from the Vintage, Clone Wars, and Saga Legends line will be accepted.

However, with the campaign not starting for a few months still, we still have some time to kill. Thus, our friends over at Sandtroopers.com were kind enough to pass on a nice packaged look at this future mail-away exclusive. This looks to be one beautiful figure, with the same great looking paint and detail that has been Hasbro's Star Wars line for quite some time.

So, while the figure campaign may still be a few months away, sit back and enjoy these beautiful shots of, what I feel, will be another hotly anticipated Star Wars figure for the coming year!

Thanks to Sandtroopers.com for passing these on!... [Read More]

Although it was announced the DCUC vs. MOTU line was cancelled, Mattel did promise that both the Green Lantern vs. Zodac and Supergirl vs. She-Ra 2-packs would be out before the end of the year, thus finishing off the line.

Today, thanks to our buddies over at The Fwoosh, we have an in-depth look at the first of these 2-packs: Green Lantern vs. Zodac.

DCUC Fan's get Green Lantern Hal Jordan in this 2-pack. He is, essentially, a straight-up repack of the TRU exclusive with the metallic paint job from last year. Accessory wise, he comes with the machine gun construct from DCUC Wave 11 John Stewart. I have to say, why Mattel didn't pack in the fist construct instead is beyond me.

MOTU Fan's get Zodac with this 2-pack. Again, he is, essentially, a straight-up repack, but features new gloved hands and boots, making him, in my opinion, the best Zodac figure to date. He comes complete with a laser pistol.

So, there you have it. It's a nice entry into the series, but again, I would've prefered Hal with a fist construct over the machine gun. However, that's the only true gripe I have about this set.

Enjoy the attached photos thanks to our friends over at TheFwoosh!... [Read More]

Today, thanks to our buddies over at The Fwoosh, we have an in-depth look at the second of these 2-packs: Supergirl vs. She-Ra.

For the DCUC Fan, this set comes with the Linda Danvers version of Supergirl, who, like Bizzaro from the Comic-Con 2011 2-pack, is carried over from the DCSH line. She comes with no accessories and, interestingly, her bio write-up on the reverse of the packaging is for the Kara version of Supergirl and not Linda.

MOTU Fan's get their hands on a She-Ra with this set. She is a straight-up repack, but does feature the correctly colored Sword of Protection, which is positive. She may be just a repack, but she is a good figure that all MOTU fan's should have in their collection. So, grab this set if you don't have her yet.

Again, a nice set. The Linda Danvers Supergirl is a neat choice, as it gives newer DCUC fan's a chance to grab this figure after all these year's since her inital release, although I prefer the modern version in the Kryptonite Chaos 2-pack with Lex Luthor. And She-Ra is a good, all round, solid figure.

Enjoy the attached shots supplied by our friends over at The Fwoosh!... [Read More]

Hey, DC Fans! We have a nice look this afternoon at the Arkham City 2-pack, a newly released TRU Exclusive under the Batman Legacy series of figures newly released from Mattel.

Released to celebrate the soon-to-be-launched Arkham City, the sequel to Arkham Asylum, this 2-pack features Batman and Two-Face, in a scale and asthletic that is slightly larger, but still works, alongside your DCUC figures.

Batman looks great. His armor is beautifully textured and his coloration is superb. I think the colors on Mattel's version vasily outweigh the DC Direct figure as, for some reason, DCD decided to go with both black and blue colors on the cowl and cape, and I can't stand it. This Batman also features nice detailing on his gloves and boots as well. The articulation is good and matches that of DCUC figures in my opinion.

Two-Face is the 2-packs baddie. He's finally got some muscle to him this time around and the scarring is detailed and realistic, unlike the green or symmetrical scarring we've seen in the past. He comes with his signature coin, but it's stuck in his hand and can't be removed. His articulation is similar to DCUC figures, however, he has cut, not ball jointed shoulders. We got an explanation for this at Comic Con in that the different materials used to make the body and suit jacket did not come together in a natural way with ball jointed shoulders (think of a “vest” look) so aesthetically, they made the joint choice.

Mattel is beginning a new age with their DCUC line, and Batman Legacy is leading that new age, with figures spanning both comics and video games. This is a nice set, plain and simple and if you're a fan of the game, you'll want to add these two to your collection. The next Arkham City set to be released will feature Joker and the newly revealed Robin, so stay tuned for further updates!

Enjoy the attached shots supplied by The Fwoosh!... [Read More]

Sideshow Collectibles proudly presents DC Comics Year by Year: A Visual Chronicle from DK Publishing. For more than 70 years, DC Comics has been entertaining children and adults alike. Here, for the first time, is the chronological account of the adventures of both the characters and the company that created them. The DC Chronicle Year by Year traces DC's fascinating story: the company's beginnings as National Allied Publications in the 1934, and its subsequent change to Detective Comics, Inc. in 1937. The book details all the major DC publishing landmarks and more, displayed clearly, month by month. Highlighting the debuts of Superman and Batman, the geniuses that invented them, and the real-life events-like the Vietnam War, the atom bomb, the Space Race-that shaped the atmosphere of the times, DC Chronicle Year by Year follows the characters' foray into the real world through TV series and blockbuster movies. Features original cover art by well-known DC artist Ryan Sook and a foreword by Paul Levitz, who was president of DC Comics from 2002 - 2009. (352 Pages)

Here is the latest set of answers from the MattyCollector Q&A! Remember to post your questions in our MattyCollector Q&A Thread!

1) At SDCC, we only saw Voltron Force prototypes and of course, the Club Lion Force 23 inch Voltron. For those on a tighter budget, will there be a smaller, CLASSIC combining Voltron? At $290 only the true diehards are going to go for the 23 inch version.
At SDCC and right after the show we offered a 7” scale classic Voltron for $30.00!

2) For Voltron Force, can we expect a 23 inch version too, or a smaller one? We couldn't tell if the one shown at SDCC was able to combine.
We are still working on our plans for the new Voltron Force show. More info will be revealed soon.

3) Will Batman Legacy be able to incorporate the 1989 Batman movie characters? With Hot Toys getting the license for 12" figures, we were wondering if there's hope for 6" figures of those memorable characters....
It is possible, but there are no set plans at this time.

4) Do the MOTUC Rumblers have leg articulation, and are they MattyCollector exclusives?
The MOTU Mini are still concept figures. There is no set release or articulation level at this time. We just put them on display to gage fan interest at this time.

5) Does your Voltron license cover the short lived CG cartoon from the late 90's?
Yes.... [Read More]

Like many of us on this site, you are most likely reading this because you are a fan of toy collecting. You may have a collection with 100 pieces in it, or maybe it is closer to 1000 pieces. Some of us may know exactly what is in our collection at any given time, but some of us can lose track of some things as our collections begin to grow (or as we begin to age and get forgetful). So how do you keep track of it all?

That is the focus of today's Discussion Point taken right from our forums, thanks to a thread posted by our very own KshatriyaNZ666. What do you use to keep track of the items in your collection? Do you use some sort of specific software solution? Make use of another website dedicated to keeping lists of such nature? Or maybe just an old fashioned spreadsheet? Head on into our forums and sound off! Let us know what works for you and why!... [Read More]
