Coming to us now by way of poster Noodles on /toy/ is a scan from another Japanese hobby magazine, giving us our first look at the resin prototype of Masterpiece MP-12 Lambor aka Masterpiece Sideswipe. This prototype image shows an intricately detailed version of Sideswipe which slavishly recreates his Generation 1 toy's look with more substantial detailing, and fuller arms. Also of potential interest is a view on the back of the robot mode, which hints that the mold is also being designed in the same style as Universe Classics Sideswipe who fulfilled double duty as Sunstreaker as well.

In the bottom left corner of the scan there's another silhouette of Masterpiece MP-13, the alleged Soundwave, and he's certainly got the bulky look of Soundwave going on there.

Click on the thumbnail at left for a higher-res version of this scan.

Machinima has put out a new trailer from High Moon Studios Transformers Fall of Cybertron. The new Fall of Cybertron trailer focuses around five of this writer's favorite characters from the original show - the Dinobots. There's some new footage of the five in-game in there, along with Matt Tieger's creator commentary on bringing the Dinobots to life in the aligned continuity. Check the video out below:

FansProject's latest announcement on their FansProject Core site is to post some artwork for something called "Assaulter". Back in 2008, FansProject teased as a future Warbot release based on Generation 1 Broadside - and this Assaulter design, with its squat visored head, cockpit in chest and bulky armored design, might well be the realization of that concept! Right now it's just a concept and might not even be Transformers related, so stay tuned for future updates.

Here is a small update from our friends at Auto Assembly - the artwork for the 2012 passes has been revealed. There's two different pieces of artwork for the two different pass types - for the full weekend passes there's artwork of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, and for the reduced access Partner Passes there is a piece of art featuring Prowl, Perceptor and Animated Sentinel Prime - a piece of art ideal for getting signed by this year's three voice actor guests Michael Bell, Paul Eiding and Townsend Coleman!

But if you are thinking of attending then you may wish to get booked up fast - Auto Assembly 2012 may well be headed for a complete sell out weekend! The convention is capped at 1000 places, and things are well on course to hit that target - the word as always is to book early and avoid disappointment! Find out more and book your place at the Auto Assembly homepage!

Auto Assembly 2012 is taking place at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham over the weekend of 3-5 August. I'll be there - I hope to see you there too!

With TFcon's 2012 exclusive Shafter rising to the occasion when it comes to this year's exclusives, I figured now was a good time to give some focus to last year's exclusive duo of Stronghold and Toxin. Stronghold is a redeco of the great Hardhead upgrade set, this time for Universe Onslaught, and comes complete with Reprolabels to customize the Onslaught body into something new and altogether unique - a proto-Fortress Maximus version of Fortress / Cerebros. It's rather cool and the Toronto number plate decal adds a lot to the look.

Toxin meanwhile is a redeco of the first Headrobots release, Cobra, and is a nice little complement to the set - it also goes well on a Mindwipe body in my experience.

Open the links below to check out both galleries!

The Transformers Prime Cyberverse series is bringing back that mightiest of Transformers - the massive Citybots! Back in Generation 1 these were the likes of Metroplex, Trypticon and Fortress Maximus, huge robots capable of transforming into bases for the smaller toys, and equally big battle station modes.

Recently released in Singapore, the Transformers Prime Cyberverse Optimus Maximus is a return to this concept. He's a big robot version of Optimus Prime capable of transforming into a battle station which can seat up to nine Cyberverse toys! Is this a return to the form of the original Citybots, or just one that's strictly for the kids? Fortunately you only need to read on to find out, as 2005 Boards member pingth has bought an Optimus Maximus and has very kindly provided us with the first review of this new Transformers base-bot!

Here we get a look of some Japanese edition Prime figures with a set of photos. These photos detail the voyager-sized Bulkhead, deluxe-sized Arcee, and the EZ Collection (the equivalent of Legends in the US) Wheejlack. The Japanese editions comes with the Arms Microns and also some labels, and these photos allows us to see these figures sans labels. A careful eye will note the lack of paint applications that the US versions have and just how much these depend on the labels to enhance the look. Also noteworthy is that Bulkhead and Arcee do not sport shiny plastic as some fans thought with the original promotion photos.

Check out the photos after the jump!

E-Hobby have announced that they are entering into a collaboration with the Transformers Collector's Club! Exactly what this partnership is bringing to the table is unknown, but wishful speculation is that it will give Japanese fans access to the US TFCC exclusives, and US fans access to E-Hobby's own awesome exclusives without the need for a middleman.

Of course that is all speculation - full details will be announced on the E-Hobby Magazine site in due course. I for one am looking forward to finding out more - and once we know more we will share the news with you here on TFW.

Our friends and sponsors at Robot Kingdom have shared a couple of scans from the latest issue of Dengeki Hobby on their Facebook page. Dengeki Hobby's May issue includes a nice clear picture of Arms Micron series Breakdown, shown here in all his glory thanks to a nice higher-res scan. The design looks very sharp and close to how he looks in the show - and doubtless will look great alongside Knock Out and Bulkhead. He's coming to the US somewhere down the line, possibly as one of the three new Voyagers in Voyager Class Wave 4 - this will hopefully be confirmed at the San Diego Comic Con in July.

The second scan, which shows the whole page, gives another look at some other upcoming Japanese releases, including Arms Micron Knock Out and Vehicon, a Lucky Draw Transformers Prime Optimus Prime, and the Tokyo Toy Show exclusives Henkei Black Convoy and Transformers Prime First Edition Optimus Prime Clear Version.

A reminder friends that the next (and for the time being, last!) new episode of Transformers Prime airs on The Hub tomorrow at 8:30 ET | 5:30 PT. Toxicity is the finale of the four episode relic hunt arc, recounting the events that led up to the shocking final moments of last week's episode Triage! It's a big bad brawl between the brave Bulkhead and the insidious Insecticons, with the final Iacon relic in the balance.

The epic clash of bot VS bug is captured in this new still from the Transformers Facebook page, along with the info that "it's the last new episode for a while".

Fortunately we do not have too long to wait for new Transformers adventures because Transformers Rescue Bots returns from its own brief hiatus on 9 June! Watch this space for more news on future airings of Transformers Prime as they are revealed to us.

Transformers Dark of the Moon's Wheeljack - known as Autobot Que on screen and in Japan - is one of a pair of toys that were slated for the ill-fated last assortment of the Dark of the Moon toyline. Never released at US retail, the toy has only seen release in Japan, and there's a limited release due to hit Asia any day now - and with that new release, we thought now would be a great time to share with you our gallery of this toy; to demonstrate why it's such a shame this one never got a wider release. Don't get me wrong - he's far from flawless as toys go, but Wheeljack's toy is a great representation of the onscreen character, has stacks of accessories, and is just fun to fiddle about with.

Don't just take our word for it - check out our extensive gallery for this toy and see for yourself!

Jagex were presenting a panel on the Transformers Universe MMO at London's MCM expo over the weekend. During the panel they covered a whole bunch of features of the game, some of which we already knew from previous Q&A sessions, but there are also a few hints at new things which have not been covered previously, such as how you can use real-world currency in the game and why the title is "Universe" (hint: you're not going to be Earthbound forever...)

Here's a list of key points from the presentation, taken down by TFW2005 member Cosablanca:
  • A free web-based MMO based on Transformers Prime.
  • Aimed to last for at least 10 years.
  • Will have various known Transformers Characters
  • At launch the game will be based on Earth but eventually other “areas” will be accessible such as Cybertron + other planets. Hence, the name “Universe”. They have stated that new transformers will be introduced as we travel from one world to another.
  • Energon is aimed to be used as a currency.
  • Real money will be integrated in the game but in what way exactly has not been yet finalized. Most likely a way to increase the pace of things for people who would like quick results. It will not be used to purchase a more powerful weapon as that would not be fair.
Regarding Customization:
  • Initially only vehicles but animal forms/beast modes to follow.
  • You can choose a male or a female character.

Just released in Asia is the new fourth wave of Transformers Prime Deluxes including the Decepticons Airachnid and Dead End, and Autobot Shadow Strike Bumblebee! As always a new wave of Transformers toys hitting retail means we get a nice look at the new goodies coming our way and why should this time be any exception? By way of online retailer Kapow Toys we have some extensive looks at both Dead End and Airachnid, and there's also an out of package image for Shadow Strike Bumblebee by way of Hobbybase for those interested.

Here is something well and truly bizarre for you - hot on the heels of Dark of the Moon Wheeljack getting a limited run release in Hasbro packaging in Asia, an Ebay auction has popped up for the never-released Autobot Team Racers two pack - aka the Target Exclusive one with the Deluxe Class Leadfoot and Topspin - not Twin Twist as originally reported, but actually just the other weaponized Deluxe Class Wrecker. He's largely unaltered from his original release.

Exactly what this turning up on Ebay now means is beyond us - could there be a very limited run out there waiting to be found, or is this one random retailer sample piece that slipped through the cracks?

Either way it is the first time we've ever seen this two-pack-that-wasn't, so check it out!

Third Party group, Perfect Effect has updated their blog with a design tease for their next project. Continuing on with their current project PE-DX 01 RC and PE-DX 01B RC their blog shows a third Motorbot in purple and black with hints of gold and red. Similar colors to Animated Black Arachnia. Could this be a motorcycle version of the character? Or a homage to someone else completely?

While at a Toys R Us in Concord, North Carolina, 2005 boards member fiveironfr3nzy spotted a merchandising sheet with a rather interesting listing:

THUNDERCRACKER MASTERPIECE

No word on if this will be a repaint of the recent MP-11 Starscream V2 mold, or the original MP-3 mold. Stay tuned!

Time for another gallery of a Transformers Movie toy who never made it to the US. Leadfoot here is the third of the Wreckers from Dark of the Moon, whose Deluxe Class toy was intended for a Target two pack along with his fellow Wrecker Topspin, as we finally saw packaged just earlier today. Leadfoot did see a release in Japan as an individually carded figure though without the sponsor details his US release would have featured - your mileage may vary if this "clean" look makes the toy more appealing or not.

One thing that is truly appealing about Leadfoot of course comes from owning the other two Wreckers, Roadbuster and Topspin, because the three of them together make for a great set.

Check out our gallery of the third Wrecker - one of the few Transformers to sport a beer belly! - and see for yourself how cool this toy that never made it to US retail is.

Reprolabels have sent out their update for the month of May. New this month are some new Transformers Prime customizing sets, a joint one for the mainline Megatron and Soundwave, plus a separate one for First Edition Cliffjumper. There's also a sticker set for giving your Reveal the Shield Legends Starscream a more Generation 1 feel.

On the third party front, there's a full-on sticker set for the iGear Rager to bring out the Huffer in him, plus a set for the iGear Ark Control Center set. It's all topped off with a pair of sets for TFC Toys Dr Crank and Neckbreaker.

Lastly the freebie for this month is this handsome set of white outlined symbols - one set free with each order of $20 or more on Transformers stickers.
