A small update for you now - Japanese online site Ami Ami have updated with a new image of the upcoming Kabaya Transformers Gum "Cybertron Base" series, which are three little sets with small robots and bases for them - with the added bonus that all three bases can combine into a Kabaya version of the biggest Transformer of them all, Fortress Maximus.

This new image shows us that as an added bonus, the Kabaya Fortress Maximus will include his Master Sword - a Japanese-exclusive accessory with the 1987 release of Fortress Maximus which carried over to the later Grand Maximus release and the weapon used by Omega Prime in the finale of Robots in Disguise. The Kabaya version of the Master Sword remains as proportionally huge as the original sword, and comes in the set that includes one of Fort Max's legs and a Kabaya version of Minibot Powerglide.

These are due for a release in July - I can hardly wait!

The latest new upgrade kit from third party group CrazyDevy continues their trend of producing third party upgrades for third party upgrades. This time out they are bringing out a Bruticus head for the FansProject Colossus set (aka the FansProject Bruticus). This head has light up eyes, and boasts it not only fits inside the original Onslaught figure in his non-combined modes, but that it is also fully compatible with the original ball joint. It's due for a release in July priced at just shy of $30.

Headrobots have dropped by to share with us not one but two updates! First up is their Blood DX, the long-awaited customization kit for Deluxe Revenge of the Fallen Decepticon Bludgeon. The kit converts the vehicle mode from an APC into a full-on tank, with the robot mode sporting the classic Bludgeon samurai look (Headrobots wishes to point out that the maroon color on the helmet is prototype only - in the final version, the helmet will be brown to match the rest of the vehicle mode)

The set is going up for preorder at retailers now - such as at Big Bad Toy Store. It's due for a release in the third quarter 2012.

Second is a kit which is currently only a proof-of-concept, internal to Headrobots only. It is called "Black King", a Transformers Cybertron Dark Scorponok to Black Zarak upgrade kit, with new claws, scorpion legs, spear, helmet (with Headmaster), feet and cannons - essentially all the important parts to make Dark Scorponok into Black Zarak. Here's the rub - it is internal only right now. It would cost $100-120 to release and would be done in installments like CrazyDevy, if it is released. If you want to buy it, you'll need to show your support by liking Headrobot's Facebook post.

News in from Universal Studios Hollywood now - we've got our first new toy release of the month of June for you! The all-new character from Transformers the Ride, Evac, has a Deluxe Class toy exclusive to the Universal Studios park, and 2005 Boards member TheTFReview sent us this picture showing that the new member of the Movieverse Autobot team is being well stocked at Universal Studios Hollywood. He comes with a higher than average pricetag though as you might expect for a theme park exclusive toy, and that is $21.95. As you can also see in the bottom of the picture, the exclusive repack of Deluxe Optimus Prime (and, we assume, Bumblebee) are also now in the ride's giftshop.

Here for you today we have something a bit special. You might recall a month back a little something called Botcon 2012 took place in Dallas Texas. In spite of a few troubles in the lead up, a great time was had by all - so here is TFW's review of Botcon 2012! What we have here is something a little different from our past post-convention roundups, so we hope you might enjoy the different take.

Read on to check it out. Enjoy everyone!

I'd also like to say a big thanks to all the good people who contributed content to this review. This would not have been half as awesome as it is without your help and support!

Hot on the heels of the news of his release we've got some in-hand pictures of the Transformers the Ride exclusive Evac. The Universal Studios exclusive Autobot is based on the vehicle from Transformers the Ride, and pleasingly features the gull wing doors of the ride vehicle, a nice touch. The design of the toy fits in well with other Movieverse toys, especially with guys like Dark of the Moon's Wreckers.

Read on to check out the pics.

Who doesn’t love Metroplex? This fantastic City-bot is a valuable asset to the Autobots. We’ve known him to be appearing in the highly anticipated upcoming Transformers video game Fall of Cybertron, but here is his first look thanks to TFW2005 member seeker311.

This isn’t the first time Metroplex appeared on a video game though. He was part of the Autobot team on the GLU mobile game Transformers G1: The Awakening. Players know only too well that if they have Metroplex standing, the level is sure to end in victory.

Ahead of E3, an early copy of the next edition of Gameinformer has stolen the thunder of High Moon Studios big E3 reveal for Fall of Cybertron, Metroplex. The big dude is shown in a screencap attached to the magazine's latest coverage of Fall of Cybertron and as you can see he is very much his original Generation 1 self, reimagined in the Cybertronian style of the War / Fall of Cybertron series. Metroplex is set to play a pivitol role in Transformers Fall of Cybertron, and while from what we have heard so far you may not get to control the titanic Autobot directly, when you play as Optimus Prime you will have the ability to mark targets for Metroplex to deal with. How Metroplex deals with them is half the fun - we have seen him eliminate targets using missile strikes or by closing in to smash them with his mighty fists, depending on the context.

Discuss this new image and the look of Fall of Cybertron Metroplex here. Image credit goes to Foxdie on the Full Metal Hero boards.

But that is not the only news. The article around the image reveals that a fan-favorite element of Transformers War for Cybertron, the Escalation horde mode, is also set to return. Gameinformer reports that they have had a little hands-on time with the new mode, and will have some videos of it up in due course, so that is something to look forward to.

Discuss the return of Escalation in Fall of Cybertron here!

Moving right along, next up for you we have the third in our little series of "toys that never made it to US retail" from the Dark of the Moon line. Up next is Soundwave. Three versions of Soundwave were planned for the Dark of the Moon line - of those only the Cyberverse made it to US retail; the Human Alliance Soundwave and this one, the Deluxe class toy, never made it outside of Japan and a very limited release through Hasbro Asia. It's a pity because while the toy is not without its flaws (the roof of the car hangs off the back in a very unattractive way) it is a good toy, very solidly built and a nice representation of the character who appeared on screen in the movie. He nicely complements the other Decepticons and is a real step up from the satellite version from Revenge of the Fallen.

Check out our gallery for another look at a toy which missed out on US shelves:

The Transformers Prime Arms Micron Capsule Toys have just made their release in Japan, and that means the Japanese blog sites are starting to get some in-hand pictures of these cool new Targetmaster-styled partner figures up. The first set of four, featuring Optimus Prime Blaster, Bumblebee Sword, Zad and Gob, are showcased on this Japanese blog site. Optimus Prime Blaster and Bumblebee Sword are based on Optimus Prime and Bumblebee in Transformers Prime, and transform into new weapons for Optimus and Bumblebee to wield - a cool blaster similar to Optimus' O.P. Arms Micron and a wicked looking double bladed sword. Zad and Gob are new, come in two color variations (purple or black), and turn into some crazy looking melee weapons.

They're a pretty awesome set all things considered and worth taking a look at - especially when you also consider the "fan mode" that has come to us from Japanese image board 2Chan, showing a combined robot form using all six sets. At least, we're assuming it's a fan mode...

dharmacon dropped by our 2005 Boards to share something that is doubtless going to be of interest to all you fans in the South Florida area - from June 2 to August 3 2012, there will be an exhibition charting the evolution of Optimus Prime at the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library, University of South Florida, St. Petersburg. This cool exhibition in dharmacon's own words "features roughly 100 figures, including many of the major Optimus Prime toys that have been released in the U.S. since 1984, along with plenty of toys from more ancillary product lines (e.g., Heroes of Cybertron, MyClone, Kre-O, etc.). It also features products and merchandise, narrative text and facts, a selection of comic books featuring Prime on the cover, and a display case devoted to the four voice actors that have given life to Optimus Prime over the years.

As an added bonus, there are also letters from three of Optimus Prime's four voice actors in the exhibit. Garry Chalk (voice of Optimus Primal and Optimus Prime 2002-2006), Neil Kaplan (Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime) and David Kaye (Transformers Animated Optimus Prime) have all contributed some honest and heartfelt thoughts about Optimus Prime, the fans and the greater Transformers Legacy.

It's pitched at a general audience, so it may not have anything that fans like us do not already know, but if you are in the area then head on by and take a look - it genuinely sounds like a great way to spend an afternoon. Check out the University library opening hours here.

Game Trailers has posted an interview with High Moon Studio's Matt Tieger about a little game you might have heard of called Transformers Fall of Cybertron. The interview talks about one of the parts of the game I'm most excited for, the Citybot Metroplex and shows some of the gameplay in the level where he appears. Matt also talks a bit about Bumblebee's level, which we saw posted earlier this week. Check out the video below:

The next issue of the TCC Magazine is wrapped and should be arriving to members over the next couple of weeks. As always, we cram every bit of Transformers news, reviews, previews and original comic content we can in to each issue and this one is no exception!

This month we focus on a recap of BotCon 2012. If you were at the show, a great review and if you weren't, a very cool extended glimpse at what BotCon is all about. We also spotlight two more MTMTE profiles, Windbreaker and Flamefeather, showcase our final 2012 installment of the Allspark Almanac Addendum and in the current comic story "A Flash Forward", the master plan of the Cybertronian known as "Jhiaxus" is finally revealed!

Site sponsor BigBadToyStore has put up a pre-order for AM-21 Arms Master Optimus Prime. This import figure, listed at $119.99, includes five Micron arms figures. At this time, it is unclear which Optimus Prime this is.

Optimus Maximus? Weaponizer Optimus? Speculate over in the discussion thread.

e-Hobby Shop, who recently announced a partnership with the official Transformers Collection's Club, has tweeted an image of a familiar Shattered Glass Quintesson.

While this is not evidence of a potential figure, it does indicate the cooperation between the American and Japanese exclusives providers.

With E3 in full swing the new Transformers Fall of Cybertron news is coming in thick and fast. Matt Tieger has been answering fan questions on the Playstation Blog, with some interesting points coming out, such as:
  • Big Bots - The response has been good to Bruticus and the other big guys. Matt Tieger says though that we have not discussed all of them yet.
  • The story - It's official canon, created in partnership with Hasbro, the official story of the departure from Cybertron. Matt believes it fits with any part of the franchise, so it is being kept open presumably.
  • The length of the campaign - Gameplay length is actually longer than WFC.
  • The G1 Optimus Prime unlock - The Generation 1 Optimus Prime character is a complete new model, not just a skin. He's the only classic unlock that Matt Tiger can confirm, and it was done as something special for the fans picking the game up on day 1.
  • Collector's Edition - High Moon Studios are aware of the demand though there are no current plans for a Collector’s Edition. Matt Tieger sees each copy as special.
  • Is Ultra Magnus in Fall of Cybertron? - In Matt's own words, "I can say that Hasbro has confirmed an Ultra Magnus toy. That could be a hint about his role in game."

Stay tuned for more Fall of Cybertron news!

As revealed over the weekend, the popular multiplayer horde mode from Transformers War for Cybertron, Escalation, is making a return appearance in Fall of Cybertron. Several key details are covered in this article on IGN and on a video hosted on Gametrailers.

Some of the key points on the new, bigger and badder Fall of Cybertron Escalation mode include:
  • You can choose the difficulty for the Escalation mode.
  • Four player characters per stage, different characters for different stages. Warpath is playable on one stage.
  • The game points out the last three enemies on a wave.
  • You can now open doors by paying 50% deposits.
  • Each room you unlock has a "loot tube", described as a mystery box of weapons and add-ons to enable you to destroy enemies. It's a random item generator.
  • There are upgrade stations, more expensive ways to power up your team. Upgrades stack and affect all players on your team.
  • There are traps, which can be used to set up ambushes for enemies.
  • You can also unlock a gunship, which roams the map blasting enemies for you.
Be sure to check out the full video of Escalation mode in Fall of Cybertron on Gametrailers to see this returning gameplay mode in action!
