Art Asylum has posted some new in-package photos of their upcoming Expendables Minimates.

By now, everyone has hopefully seen the new trailer for The Expendables 2. Even if you’re not a fan of the first one, the trailer is a blow-by blow tribute to the greatest action movies ever made and stars most of America’s greatest action heroes of the past 40 years. (Ladies, did we mention it’s also got that hunk from The Hunger Games?) Well, before you go watch the trailer again, check out the packaging for the first two sets of Expendables Minimates! This summer will bring two four-packs of 2-inch minifigures, one exclusively at comic shops and specialty stores, the other exclusively at Toys “R” Us. Specialty will get Lee Christmas, Hale Caesar, Mr. Church and Tool, while TRU will get Barney Ross, Trent Mauser, James Munroe and Paine. Don’t see your favorite Expendables team member? Well, there will be two more sets coming out this fall with the rest of the team, plus a few of the movie’s new villains! We’ll reveal those soon, but look for the first two sets in early June!

Star Wars fans will finally have their chance to purchase a one of a kind collectible during Star Wars Weekends this year at Disney's Hollywood Studios, their own personalized 8-inch figurine of themselves frozen in carbonite!

Using 3D facial scanning technology, the face of the person is used in place of Han Solo's to create a custom carbonite slab much like what was featured in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. The D-Tech Me Carbon Freeze Me Experience will run from May 18th 2012 through June 16th 2012 during Star Wars Weekends, and is located next to The American Idol Experience at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Reservations ARE required for this, and may be made by contacting 407-939-8324. The first figure will cost $99.95 plus taxes and shipping ($74.95 for each additional figure) and those who participate will receive a special light-up wristband to further commemorate the experience. They have quoted a 4 week turnaround for people to actually receive their figure.... [Read More]

NECA has posted a new photo and some info for their upcoming Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Ezio Onyx Figure.

He’s a natural born killer

Not that Ezio Auditore — the main character in Ubisoft‘s mega-franchise, Assassin’s Creed — was lacking for “sneaky,” but we thought it only fair to capture him at his most stealth yet. From Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood comes this all-new Ezio 7″ action figure in his Onyx Costume!

Released near the end of 2010 to massive acclaim from critics and gamers alike, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is the second installment in the huge and winding trilogy (it’s the third game overall in the series; pretty complicated) of Ezio Auditore. It’s a story of death, time, desire, power and, well, even more death, but it’s made for one of the most enjoyable gameplay experiences ever, already influencing countless other games, and NECA is thrilled to be able to bring you this figure that around the office we’ve given the codename “Ezio Onyx.”

It’s a fair enough description of what the figure is — Ezio in his Onyx Costume — but that’s hardly even the beginning of the story when it comes to Ezio Onyx. Standing nearly 7″ tall, he has over 30 points of articulation, from his neck down to the folds in his feet. Not only that, but Ezio comes with a crossbow and has three sets of interchangeable hands, in case one pair get tired holding that crossbow, he’s got backups at the ready!

It slices! It dices!

Coolest of all, just like his Ivory-Costumed counterpart, Ezio Onyx has retractable blades on each of his arms that reenact his trademark stealth attacks! What could possibly go better with a stealth-mode Onyx Costume Ezio action figure than retractable blades? The short answer is nothing. The long answer? Nothing twice.

NECA’s Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood Onyx Costume Ezio figure hits shelves mid-June — though I hear if you check out NECA’s Amazon store, there are some available now. Keep it tuned to your favorite action figure wholesaler for updates on Assassin’s Creed and all your favorites games, movies and more!

Welcome Toyark members! Today we have a new round of answers for the MattyCollector 2012 Q&A. Check them out below:

1) With the cancellation and restructuring of DCU Allstars, what will become of the two-packs, such as Sinestro Corps Hal Jordan vs Blue Lantern Kyle Rayner? Have they also been cancelled, or are they still being released as planned?
A)There are no current plans for the 2-packs, but we will always continue to explore ways of producing the most compelling collector offerings. Thank you.

2) This question was posted by a member who encountered difficulty in ordering from MattyCollector.com: When is MattyCollector going to get a WORKING website and customer service team?? In January, I noticed that my credit cards were expiring soon so I changed them to an updated one over the phone and told them that I needed these attached to my subscriptions. I ALSO did this online via their website as per their instructions over the phone. It was verified that this was done. Fast forward to today. I get an e-mail from Matty that my Club Lion Force figure didn't ship because my card was declined because they used my OLD credit card. Furious, I called Matty and they tell me that it was "fixed" but it will be delayed by two days when their "automated" system tries again.
A) We are constantly upgrading our website to improve the buying and shipping experience. A new US based CS group is now in place and a subscription page to manage your account should be launching before SDCC (we hope! Still de-bugging it). Nothing is more important.

3) With the canceling of Young Justice 4" figures, is it the end of your efforts, in the 1:18 scale? Or can we expect a different body / articulation / approach in future DC figures thereof that scale? Next year witnesses both the new Man of Steel film AND Superman's 75th anniversary. Its TWICE the media buzz / opportunity to take advantage of a new line of possibly better 1:18 scale figures...
A) Our efforts are never-ending, and we will continue to explore various form factors and scales. We are not making any announcements about 2013 Superman product at this time. Thank you.

4) With Brock Lesnar now back in the WWE, has work started on a WWE Elite figure of him?
A) Well in this case we’ll make an exception: YES! It is turning out awesome.

5) The 2002 version of Teela was a fan favorite character from the cartoon. Since the 2002 style for head sculpts won't be used, is it possible to get a MOTUC figure of Teela, based on the 2002 costume but with a head sculpt using the current style that the 4H uses?
A) It is always "possible" but their really aren't that many differences and when you "Classic-size" the 2002 outfit it is really close to what we have now.... [Read More]

Kotobukiya has revealed a new Star Wars Statue. Their newest reveal gives us a look at their upcoming Star Wars: Return of the Jedi - Boba Fett ARTFX+ Statue.

A Kotobukiya Japanese import! The galaxy’s most feared bounty hunter returns to the hit line of smaller scale Star Wars Saga Collection ARTFX+ Statues! A clone of Jango Fett and one of the freelancers chosen to hunt down Luke Skywalker for Darth Vader, the armored jetpack-toting mystery man joins the ARTFX+ line in a new version representing his appearance in the final film: Boba Fett Return of the Jedi version! With an all-new sculpt and paint scheme this is a great successor to the previously offered Empire Strikes Back Fett. Cold and calculating, Boba Fett is never encountered without his full suit of Mandalorian armor and trusty blaster rifle. The armor plating over a full-length bodysuit clearly shows the wear and tear of a life of crime, along with all of the personal touches added by Fett over the years like the cape and unique built in weaponry. The bounty hunter is a perfect likeness of the character specifically from Return of the Jedi, down to the correct colors on his armor and cape. Boba is posed in a new fighting stance and comes with interchangeable parts so you can display him wielding his iconic blaster or preparing to fire his wrist-mounted gauntlet weapons! Like all of the Star Wars ARTFX+ statues, Boba Fett has magnets in his feet for extra stability on his included display base. ARTFX+ Statues are fun-to-assemble pre-painted snap-fit kits that can be easily put together in seconds without glue or modeling skill. Boba Fett stands over 7 inches tall (1/10th scale) and looks great displayed alongside all of the other Saga Collection statues!

Available November 2012.

Diamond Select Toys has sent along a few new images and soem info for their upcoming Mad Monster Party Action Figures.

The stop-motion holiday specials of Rankin/Bass Productions are legendary. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, The Year Without a Santa Claus, Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town… each has been remembered as a Christmas classic. But not everything they did was reindeer and candy canes. In 1967, Rankin/Bass unleashed on theaters the stop-motion feature film Mad Monster Party?, a kooky love letter to classic monster movies, featuring pretty much every famous monster you can think of and then some. A cult favorite, the movie has gone 45 years with almost no tie-in merchandise… until now!

Diamond Select Toys will release the first three 7″-scale Mad Monster Party action figures this September, with plenty more to come in future assortments. The first assortment features Dracula, Fang and The Baron, who was based on the likeness of his vocal performer (and horror legend) Boris Karloff! Each figure is sculpted by MMP afficianado Tony Cipriano, and will come in its own display-ready collector packaging with a groovy display base and plenty of accessories. Pre-order your set through your local comic book shop (or favorite online retailer) today!

Kotobukiya has posted images for an upcoming Dark Knight Rises: Batman ARTFX Statue.

A Kotobukiya Japanese import! The Dark Knight is back! Kotobukiya is proud to present a new ARTFX Statue based on the upcoming film The Dark Knight Rises. The third part of a trilogy by Christopher Nolan, this summer’s “DKR” pits Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne against both Bane and Catwoman. To celebrate that release you can get the newest incarnation of the big screen hero for your shelf with Batman -The Dark Knight Rises! The Bat was reinvented with 2005’s Batman Begins, and its two sequels have further evolved the Dark Knight. Featuring a beautifully detailed sculpt recreating Batman’s specific appearance in the new film, this new version of the character faithfully recreates the hero’s intricate armored bat-suit with cape and cowl. Standing ready for action, the world’s greatest detective oversees Gotham City from the top of a rocky landscape. Staring down his enemies with his trademark scowl, Batman holds his flowing cape in front of him with his left hand while his right wields one of his wonderful toys; with interchangeable parts you can display him with either a grapple gun or his EMP rifle! Sculpted by MIC, Batman The Dark Knight Rises towers over 15 inches tall (1/6th scale) on a rocky display base that includes a hidden light-up bat symbol! Perfect for both long-time Batman collectors as well as fans of the new movie, this Dark Knight looks great on his own or displayed next to other dynamic Kotobukiya Batman statues.

Available November 2012.

NECA has unveiled a San Diego Comic-Con 2012 Exclusive Giant Man HeroCliX.

We’re Con Bound!

Over the next few weeks, we’re going to be giving special sneak peaks out our 2012 convention exclusives, and we start today with the brand-spanking new 2012 Convention Exclusive Marvel HeroClix Giant-Man Super Booster! Priced at $39.99, Giant-Man also includes a proportionate Ant-Man HeroClix figure that’s invisible!

No, really, like he’s not there. Set to the scale of Giant-Man, you can’t see Henry Pym when he shrinks all the way down to Ant-Man size. Also, when Marvel HeroClix first premiered way back in 2002, a similar Ant-Man was offered at conventions that year, so this Ant-Man makes a perfect bonus piece for Pym as Giant-Man. As you can see above, there’s a base with Ant-Man on it, and you’ll just have to take our word for it that he’s there. You can’t possibly imagine how hard it was to sculpt something so small that it’s invisible to the naked eye.

Size Matters

Henry Pym AKA Giant-Man first appeared in Marvel’s Tales to Astonish #56 in 1964, having already made his debut as Ant-Man in issue #35 two years earlier. Rumors have been kicking around for a while now about a movie in the works, so we thought no better time to debut this Giant-Man Chaos War HeroClix!

Like all of the figures in the Chaos War collection, Giant-Man is gorgeously detailed and accurate to the comics. He’ll be available at San Diego Comic Con and other upcoming 2012 conventions.

Art Asylum has posted new in-package photos for their upcoming Marvel Select Amazing Spider-Man Figures. Included are Spider-Man and The Lizard.

The packaging for Diamond Select Toys “Select”-scale toy lines is… pretty big. Okay, it’s really big. But that’s because it has to be! Ten years ago, DST designed their packaging to show off their 7-inch scale figures along with their killer display bases — like the upcoming 6.75″ Spider-Man figure from The Amazing Spider-Man, who comes with a wall-mountable awning to perch on. Nowadays, they alternate their regular figures with larger characters, like the upcoming movie-style Lizard, who takes up most of the space in his blister even without a display base! As a bonus, because DST’s Select packaging hasn’t changed in ten years, that means your newest Marvel Select figures will look great next to every other Select figure in your collection. They even have side art for easy shelf storage and reference! Both of these Amazing Spider-Man action figures will be out at comic shops and online retailers in early June, and they’ll look just as good in their packaging as they do out of the box and standing on your desk!

Read on to check out all the photos.... [Read More]

NECA has posted an update on their Lightning Gremlin. The figure will be a Toys "R" Us Exclusive.

Totally shocking

Yes, the pun was inevitable, but really, when you look at our new Toys ‘R’ Us exclusive Lightning Gremlin action figure, it is kind of shocking. You wouldn’t think that something like the disembodied electricity of a mythical creature would make for good figure-fodder, but this thing is not only gorgeous, it’s accurate. Not to toot our own horn, but we pretty much nailed this one.

Lightning Gremlin appears in 1990′s Gremlins 2: The New Batch and is a normal Gremlin until drinking an electrifying potion in the Clamp Center lab turns it into pure electricity. Eventually, Billy traps the Lightning Gremlin in the Clamp Center phone system and many spoilers ensue, but suffice it to say that our energetic friend here has a major role in the movie’s ending.
Details

- Available July
- Exclusive To Toys ‘R Us
- 6 3/4″ tall, 7.5″ wide

Gone “out of socket”

And yeah, maybe all that sounds unrealistic, but we’re talking about Gremlins, and “realistic” need not apply. Still, when it comes to this figure, no other word quite cuts it. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be revealing a series of TRU exclusives — so keep an eye out — but as the first, the Lightning Gremlin is absolutely gorgeous and really something special for fans and collectors alike.

Art Asylum has posted about a Marvel Minimates Fan Poll being run at Marvel.com.

The year 2013 marks the 10th anniversary of Diamond Select Toys’ Marvel Minimates line, and will coincidentally see the 50th consecutive series of figures released at comic shops and specialty stores. To celebrate, DST wants to do something to recognize the fans who have supported the line over the years. And since there are so many fan-favorite characters who have yet to be made in the line, they’re going to give those fans the power to decide the line-up for Series 50! This series will only be available at comic shops and specialty stores, and will be entirely composed of fan-voted characters!

Over the next four weeks, Marvel.com will present a series of four polls, each representing one group of characters. Poll #1 will be the Main Assault Team, showcasing the Marvel Universe’s star players sporting distinctly different looks. Poll #2 will be the Support Team, giving some love to the unsung heroes who have backed up the all-stars over the years. Poll #3 will be the Primary Targets, villain characters who we’ve never gotten as Minimates or who desperately need a re-do. And Poll #4 will be the Cannon Fodder, army-builder characters who you may want to buy more than one of. The top 1 or 2 vote-getters in each category will be produced for Series 50, and once the line-up is assembled, Diamond Select will create a rare variant figure of one of those characters to round out the assortment!

The first poll, to choose the Main Assault Team, is live right now at Marvel.com, and a new poll will post at that same link every week after that! Keep checking back to cast your vote!

A couple months ago, Syco teased their upcoming Mortal Kombat: Johnny Cage 10" Polystone Statue. Today they have posted a few new teaser images ahead of the full reveal.

Johnny Cage went through some interesting changes during the sculpting process of his statue. The original model featured a much 'angrier-looking' Johnny and his hair wasn't as detailed or as faithful to the character's known style. We wanted to make sure that we captured his essence by toning down the angry facial expression and giving him that 'handsome-touch' that he's well known for to go along an iconic pose (which all of our followers helped to decide). We know that Johnny likes to smile charismatically, but, when it comes to shattering back bones and spines as he lifts off to perform his trademark Shadow Uppercut, Mr. Hollywood is dead-serious. -Eduardo (Creative Director & Consumer Relations Manager)
