Bandai at SDCC

No news story here, but worth dropping in this section. Team went by the Bandai America booth during preview night. Currently, they only had Power Rangers on display. Nothing for Thundercats as of last night. Team will be swinging by the booth during the show to check back.

krazycp 07-12-2012 06:42 AM

Well, not good.

Cat's Pajamas 07-12-2012 06:49 AM

Not surprising, but disappointing.

Joe Moore 07-12-2012 06:57 AM

Please be aware, most companies do not set out everything during preview night. So they may still have stuff on display later. Though, as far as I can tell, the only Bandai panel this week is the Power Rangers one. There is definitely no Thundercats panel from Bandai.

TIGER007 07-12-2012 07:03 AM

bandai sucks  as do their customer service reps in CALIFORNIA....terrible ...

CANADA WILL PROBABLY NOT SEE any toys as TRU has cancelled most T-CATS order's!!!!!!

AlexofThundera 07-12-2012 08:30 AM

We're not getting anything NS related at the show, I am 99.9% sure of that. Bandai's booth will be inundated with talk of Power Rangers, the 20th anniversary of MMPR, and the new show being adapted from GoSeiger. Will they talk about Thundercats if asked? Probably but I am expecting the same old vague comments we've gotten already (our spring line is out).

And say what you guys want about Mattel, but their displays for the MOTUC line and Voltron are very nice. Imagine if we had that for a Thundercats classics line!

Dr Kain 07-12-2012 09:42 AM

SDCC will be the deciding factor on whether or not Bandai is going to release new items. Even if they don't say the line is cancelled, if no new figures are revealed, the line is definitely cancelled.

Balgus82 07-12-2012 11:01 AM

Power Rangers is their only panel? I would've expected them to at least have something on the new Ben 10 show coming out.

Actually, not even a Panel for Power Rangers from Bandai now that I look. Cartoon Network has some panels lined up, but Thundercats is not one of them.

eero 07-12-2012 06:31 PM

Well, here's to hoping the secret line of Mattel's will be Thundercats Classics. Maybe they worked out a deal with Bandai ...

adssse 07-12-2012 08:59 PM

Very disappointing. Even if there was nothing new, I was at least hoping for a presence.

As much as I despise Mattel

This would be AMAZING

Dr Kain 07-13-2012 01:06 AM

Yeah, it was Saban that did the Power Rangers panel.

MegaGearX 07-13-2012 07:38 AM

It looks like the toyline is officially dead now. Let's hope Toyguru announces Club Thundera today.

Joe Moore 07-13-2012 07:50 AM

I pray that MattyCollector never, ever touches Thundercats. Their clubs and subscription plans are some of the worst clusterf----s I have ever seen. Just ask Ghostbusters fans.

krazycp 07-13-2012 09:02 AM

So nothing? Has anyone there actually spoken to Bandai about Thundercats?

There's no one there to speak to. The Power Rangers display is simply sitting in a glass case by the Namco Bandai Games booth. Bandai America itself has no booth or panels this year.

Well... If they're pretty much not showing anything but Power Rangers and they have no representatives there then we can't all just say the line is dead because, well, it isn't just ThunderCats that they're not showing. They're not showing most of their other properties either.

Actually, they are. But they will be manned by Cartoon Network. Ben 10 toys are supposedly there, with reveals after the Ben 10 Panel by Cartoon network.

Unfortunately, even if they do, I will not get it. After the treatment I have gotten from Digital River in the last 30 days, I am not even sure I am even going to get a MOTUC sub for next year. They are really going to have to blow me out of the water at their panels today to want me to get a sub for anything and will just buy the figures off the secondary market.

Anyway, yeah, if Bandai is not there to talk about the toyline, then it is dead.

AlexofThundera 07-13-2012 11:17 AM

One other thing to note is that there is some speculation about the new Red Ranger figure (with the Green Rangers shield) on display being a reworking of the 8" Classics Lion-O mold. I compared the two figures side by side (SDCC 8" Lion-o and the new Red Ranger figure) and the muscle tone on the legs do match up.

Edit: Welp, the 'mystery" line from Mattel was "Watchmen" so it looks like we've seen all we're going to see for Thundercats at SDCC.

Joe Moore 07-13-2012 02:16 PM

Anyone who had hopes for Mattel, they announced that their mystery line is 6" Watchmen figures.

Yup. Thundercats RIP. Hopefully Bandai loses the license soon and somebody with half a brain picks it up.

What a waste.

kevster 07-26-2012 10:22 AM

You mean Bandai botched this? really ...whos been saying that along..I know not who that could be. ;)

dr_slump 07-27-2012 06:54 PM

I believe that Bandai is indeed brainless for not continuing the classics which are completely unrelated to the sales/success of the new series.

This. It ain't just fans of the new series that got shafted by Bandai, it's all Thundercats fans who got shafted by Bandai. It ain't fun to be a Thundercats fan right now.

THUNDER JEDI 07-27-2012 07:50 PM

Bandai doesn't have any respect for Thundercats or its fans. They made promises they didn't keep, got everybodys hopes up, and now they won't even come clean with us about the fate of the toy line, as if they want us to keep thinking there's more figures to come. They treat us like we're just mindless idiots.
