Over at Kotobukiya's Facebook Page, they have uploaded the full preview of their upcoming Marvel X-Force Warpath Fine Art Statue.
X-Force is the hottest mutant team right now in the Marvel Universe, with the current Uncanny X-Force series burning up the shelves everywhere. Teaming up the most vicious and morally flexible heroes, Wolverine leads the ultimate strike force willing to do anything, at any time to protect the world’s mutant population. Third in a series of all-new X-Force Fine Art Statues is the proud and steadfast warrior Warpath! James Proudstar was the second son in his family to exhibit mutant powers of strength and speed, and watched his older brother join the X-Men as Thunderbird. Sadly he was killed in the line of duty, and James ran with a bad crowd after blaming the heroes. He would later see the error of his ways and join the X-Men and then X-Force as “Warpath,” carrying on his Apache traditions and fighting against foes like the Purifiers, Stryfe, and Selene! The towering mutant barrels into battle, channeling his inner fury through his strength of arms. Warpath lunges forward while wielding his twin vibranium bowie knives, one outstretched behind him and the other sweeping in front of him. His dark black and gray X-Force uniform leaves much of his massively muscled arms bare, while doing little to hinder his ferocious movement. Warpath’s expert sculpt highlights the powerful mutant’s physique as well as the intricate accents on his boots and gloves. Meanwhile, his dark outfit is contrasted by his bare skin, bright metallic silver blades, and red eyes and “X” logo belt buckle. X-Force’s “big man” is ready for anything! Sculpted by Erick Sosa, Warpath stands nearly 12 inches tall (in 1/6th scale) on an incredible georama terrain base. Warpath is a must-have along with the previously announced X-23 and Deadpool, and he will not be the last in the X-Force lineup! Available August 2011. See a gallery of the statue by clicking the headline of the story. |

Kotobukiya's Facebook Page has been updated with the first look at some unexpected Star Wars item. They are releasing Star Wars R2-D2 and Han Solo Frozen In Carbonite Silicon Mold Trays.
A Kotobukiya Japanese import! After the amazing success of the Jedi and Sith Lightsaber Chopsticks, Kotobukiya is excited to announce another innovative Star Wars kitchen product line coming to you from a galaxy far, far away. This time around the fun gets frosty with the Han Solo in Carbonite Silicon Tray And R2-D2 Silicon Tray! Perfect for everything from family fun to Star Wars themed parties, these handy trays let you capture ice, chocolate, jelly, or anything else you can think of in the familiar shape of Jabba the Hutt’s prized possession or everyone’s favorite astromech droid. Accurately replicating the look of Han’s imprisonment and R2-D2 from the films, the sturdy silicon is both heat and ice resistant making it almost as durable as real carbonite! Han’s tray has molds for one large and six small Carbonite blocks, while R2’s has one large and four small. Both come packaged in a poly vinyl bag with unique art. Han Solo in Carbonite and R2-D2 are the perfect complements to the Lightsaber Chopsticks! And we’re not finished; expect more character kitchenware from Kotobukiya soon. Available July 2011. The new release details their plans for the toys based on Disney Pixar's Cars 2 movie. There are numerous new vehicles and play sets on the way. See the full press release and the photos by clicking the headline of the story. Warning: Massive wall of text! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disney Reveals Innovative Cars 2 Toy Line & New Film Characters At 2011 American International Toy Fair With Special Appearances by Cars 2 Stars: Michael Caine And Emily Mortimer NEW YORK, NY — Feb. 14, 2011 — Disney revved its engines and kicked off American International Toy Fair today as it unveiled the all new Disney·Pixar Cars 2 toy line of more than 300 toys before a capacity crowd of toy industry insiders and members of D23, Disney's official fan community. Academy Award®-winning actor Michael Caine, voice of the charming and eloquent new Cars 2 British agent Finn McMissile and actress Emily Mortimer, voice of his spy-in-training Holley Shiftwell, were on hand for a panel discussion and were presented with custom-built toys celebrating their Cars 2 characters. From toys that interact, speak, and climb up walls to new collectable die-cast and buildable play sets, the new Cars line-up is packed with creativity and innovation. The hottest toys at Toy Fair and this year's most anticipated, new Cars toys unveiled at the event included: Mattel's Lightning McQueen Alive, The LEGO Group's Spy Jet Escape, and Spin Master's Zero Gravity Finn McMissile radio control vehicle. The event culminated with a reception showcasing the hundreds of new toys that will release this May and into the holiday season, plus a sneak peek at the upcoming multi-platform Cars 2: The Video Game and a first look at a life-size Finn McMissile car. Cars 2 hits the track June 24 and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ and in IMAX® 3D in select theaters. In less than five years since the film's release in 2006, the Cars franchise has generated global retail sales of more than $8 billion -- making it among Disney's top franchises and quickly establishing itself as a true classic. This momentum will go into high gear as Cars 2 becomes what Disney Consumer Products expects to be its largest licensed film merchandise program ever. The program is anchored by an array of innovative toys featuring the film's World Grand Prix race and international espionage themes. Cars 2 will also be supported with unprecedented product lines from stationery, apparel and accessories to home décor, books, and food, health and beauty, and an exclusive range from Disney Store and DisneyStore.com. Returning to the driver's seat to direct Cars 2, John Lasseter, surprised guests via a special videotaped greeting and revealed John Turturro as the voice of new character and Lightning McQueen rival, Francesco Bernoulli. "The idea for Cars 2 began when I was traveling around the world doing publicity for Cars. I found myself looking out at these amazing cities and imagining, 'what would Mater do?' I couldn't help but laugh thinking about Mater lost in the maze of Tokyo streets, driving on the wrong side of the road in England or navigating the gigantic roundabouts in Paris," Lasseter said. "I'm sure fans and collectors will be as thrilled as I was to see these new adventures come to life in this exciting toy line, which features some of the most amazing technology out there." At the event, Disney also revealed two additional new Cars 2 characters: Miles Axlerod, voiced by the talented Eddie Izzard, is a former oil baron who has sold off his fortune, converted himself into an electric vehicle and devoted his life to finding the renewable, clean-burning energy source of the future — he's also the car behind the World Grand Prix; and Nigel Gearsley, an Aston Martin DB9R racer bearing #9. His cool British refinement makes him an imposing presence on the World Grand Prix courses. With more than 200 million Cars die-cast vehicles sold worldwide to date, innovation was critical to keep the new Cars toy line fresh. Disney challenged the best in the toy industry including Mattel, The LEGO Group, Spin Master and Hasbro to deliver the next generation of Cars toys. The resulting line includes new innovations such as Lightning McQueen Alive (sneak peek demo video: ) which which was unveiled at the event and is the first toy of its kind to utilize touch sensors and cutting-edge micro technology to capture the look, sound, moves and animated personality of everyone's favorite red racer with never-before-seen features in a 1:55 scale car. "The first Cars film has been a phenomenon because kids love the characters and racing. Cars 2 not only has great racing, but it also has a spy twist that is pure toy bliss," said Vince Klaseus, senior vice president of Global Toys, Disney Consumer Products. "Cars 2 is our largest toy line yet with more 300 new toys and it offers something for everyone — we have cars that can be dramatically customized in wild and expressive ways, cars that transform and even cars that climb walls." • Mattel will introduce more than 150 toys including Lightning McQueen Alive. Fans will be in awe to see Lightning McQueen's big personality captured in a small package as he drives around by himself — both forward and backward and in complete 360s, moves his eyes, shrugs his shoulders and moves his life-like mouth to speak signature phrases voiced by actor Owen Wilson (SRP $59.99, available Fall 2011; on pre-sale now at http://www.mattycollector.com/LightningMcQueen). Plus, fans will enjoy a collection of more than 70 new collectible die-cast cars (SRP $3.99 - $9.99, available May 2011). • The LEGO Group will introduce its first full line of Cars toys consisting of 20 versatile and action-packed play sets recreating key scenes from the film — play sets so detailed that some come with as many as 800 pieces! Among the new line is the Cars 2 Spy Jet Escape, which enables fans to recreate one of the film's most exciting and explosive scenes featuring Finn McMissile, Holley Shiftwell and Mater (SRP $49.99, available May 2011). • Spin Master will introduce a collection of over a dozen toys including RC vehicles featuring Zero Gravity technology, such as the Zero Gravity Finn McMissile vehicle. Fans can bring this British spy home for hours of intriguing play as Finn McMissile zips across the floor, and front wheels allow it to transition up the wall to continue the adventure (SRP $34.99 available May 2011). • Other notable products include: Hasbro classic board games with a twist such as Cars 2 Monopoly with a round board where players can race Lightning McQueen instead of rolling the dice; Ridemakerz which will deliver a new Cars customizing experience giving fans the thrill of a ride as they build their own vehicle; and the new Disney·Pixar Cars Wood Collection from Toys"R"Us, Disney's first Cars-inspired wooden toy line. Disney Interactive Studios also unveiled Cars 2: The Video Game, allowing Toy Fair guests the first test drive in the Cars universe, complete with a brand new international spy theme inspired by the animated feature film. Cars 2: The Video Game will feature an array of beloved Cars characters competing in action-packed spy adventures, as well as world-class racing. About the Cars Franchise Released in 2006, Disney·Pixar's feature film Cars has become a leading boys' franchise generating an impressive $2 billion in annual global retail sales for a total of $8B to date. Winner of the Golden Globe® for Best Animated Feature, Cars went on to gross $462 million in global box office sales. It's supported across The Walt Disney Company through films including the highly anticipated release of Cars 2 in Disney Digital 3D, consumer products, live theater productions, park attractions including Cars Land planned for launch in 2012, music, a web site http://www.disney.com/cars, TV including the popular series of short form content: Cars Toons, home entertainment, video games — including Cars and the upcoming June release of Cars 2: The Video Game supporting all major platforms, a virtual world http://www.WorldofCars.com, and books — with more than 75 new titles releasing throughout 2011 domestically, in addition to more titles on digital books and mobile applications. Art Asylum has revealed their Universal Monster Mash Series 2 figures.
"Hello again Monster Lovers! It’s been nearly a year since I gave you the news about the glorious plans for the classic film monsters of yesteryear. Today I’m going to let you see what is in store for Year 2. Many of you have been lucky enough to see the prototypes on display at some of the shows late last year, but for those who didn’t, here you go. This year’s stars are Dracula, Frankenstein, and Bride of Frankenstein. The top 3 are the mass market release figures. Dracula was sculpted by Gabriel Marquez and painted by Jason Wires. Frankenstein was sculpted by Rudy Garcia and painted by the late Eddie Wires. Bride of Frankenstein was sculpted and painted by Jean St. Jean Studios. The lower images are the deluxe Universal Select versions available only to the specialty market. Dracula features a new head sculpt and head deco, as well as the deluxe base with wolf. Frankenstein has no sculpt differences, but the paint deco change and the elaborate lab table base make it a must-have for true fans." You can see the tiny photo by clicking the thumbnail. |

One more Art Asylum update today. they have posted the first images and info for their Invisible Man for their Universal Monsters line.
"Well, technically, you never see “him” until the very end of the film. All you see is the wrappings he wears when he interacts with those he wants to be aware of his presence. I’m speaking, of course, of the Invisible Man. It took me so long to tell you all about Series 2 of Universal Monsters that I felt it only right to make it up to you by giving you a very early glimpse of series 3 (due Halloween 2012). The Invisible Man will be available in 2 versions, a mass market edition with the iconic bandaged look; and a Universal Select version with a deluxe base and a new head sculpt from one of my favorite scenes in film - when he removes his goggles and fake nose, revealing emptiness beneath the bandages. This figure was sculpted by Gabriel Marquez. Stay tuned for updates regarding paint and additional series 3 characters." You can see a gallery by clicking the headline of the story. |

Kotobukiya's Facebook Page has added a full look at their newly announced Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith Commander Cody ArtFX Statue.
A Kotobukiya Japanese import! The recently resurrected line of Star Wars ARTFX Statues (bringing the heroes and villains of the Star Wars universe to life in dynamic 1/7th scale) continues with one of the most popular characters from the prequel films. A leader of clone troopers and friend to Obi-Wan Kenobi until Order 66, here comes Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith Commander Cody! Designated unit 2224, the clone trooper who would one day play such a prominent role in history excelled in an advanced training program and was able to give himself a name: Cody. He quickly rose through the ranks, eventually leading the orange-accented 212th Attack Battalion alongside Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. His most fateful battle would take place on Utapau, where the Clone Commander would turn his sights from General Grievous to Kenobi himself! Commander Cody is instantly recognizable even among countless clone troopers by his unique armor modifications and color scheme. His complex helmet and shoulder-mounted antenna feed him up to the minute battle data, while the orange and white proudly pronounce his membership in the 212th. Paying homage to Cody’s switch in allegiance, his ARTFX Statue comes with two unique display modes. The first depicts the commander before Order 66, standing triumphant on the field of battle with his blaster at the ready. Cody scans the scene before him looking for any final opponents while dangling from his left hand are the remains of the last one: the severed head of a battle droid! If you prefer the commander working for the dark side, swap out parts to portray him in the final moment before turning on Obi-Wan. This Cody looks down at a hologram of Emperor Palpatine that glows with a bright LED light! He even wears the Jedi’s lightsaber on his belt as the character did in that specific scene. Commander Cody stands on an exclusive Utapau georama base. The battlefield at his feet is littered with debris and battle damage, not to mention battle droids blasted to scrap! Available August 2011. A few days ago Art Asylum prematurely revealed some exciting new Minimates. Apparently, they plan on producing some Minimates based on the newly released Marvel vs Capcom 3 video game. Minimates HQ originally broke, and subsequently pulled, the story. But you know how it goes once things leak online. So we present the mirrored images that were initially released.

Art Asylum has revealed a new series of Marvel Minimates. The newly unveiled figures are based on the upcoming film X-Men First Class.
"Hi everyone, Barry Bradfield here (or, DSTBarry), colourist and designer for Minimates. I’ve had the chance to work on a number of Minimates based on fantastic Marvel movies since I began working on Minimates, but I came to the game just a bit too late to work on the X-Men Last Stand series. So, Wolverine aside (he’s really his own franchise character now in my mind), I never got a chance to work on X-Men movie characters. That changed recently when we were given the chance to design the X-Men First Class series based on this summer’s film! Just like the film’s fast-tracked release, we had to move quickly to get these figures ready. While DSTUriel, our lead designer got to work on character faces, I set about choosing colours that best fit the reference provided. I would also block (no pun intended) out the characters so they were ready to have Uriel’s part of the design added. Once he sent his art along, I placed it in and tweak it according to suggestions made by DSTRobert. We would also look at new reference as it became available and decide on changes that could be made to make a more accurate figure. While some characters went through minor alterations (almost none at all) others got revised heavily based on better costume suggestions from the licencor. I have to say the figures are better for it to! I’m quite partial to the lovely Emma Frost Minimate that came about due to a suggested costume change! In the end, all involved are really excited to have added these characters to the Marvel Movie Minimates Family, and personally, it’s pretty cool to have added X-Men to my own list of ‘Mates worked on." Kotobukiya's Facebook Page has been updated with the newest Marvel Bishoujo Statue. Today we get our first good look at the Marvel Jean Grey Bishoujo Statue.
"A Kotobukiya Japanese import! The next beautiful lady in the Marvel Bishoujo collection (combining iconic superheroines and villains with traditional Japanese stylings) is sure to please a lot of fans. While you’ve seen her before as the Phoenix, the first female member of the X-Men is back in one of her most iconic uniforms, Jean Grey! First appearing in 1963’s X-Men #1, Jean was a young mutant sent to Xavier’s institute. There she honed her powers of telekinesis (and later telepathy) and became known as Marvel Girl, fighting the good fight alongside Cyclops, Angel, Beast, and Iceman. A steadfast member of the X-Men and X-Factor throughout the years, Jean would alternate between her normal identity and that of the Phoenix. Despite many character upheavals and several deaths, Jean has remained one of the most popular Marvel heroines of all time, and now she comes to you in the Japanese Bishoujo (pretty girl) style based on an original character reinterpretation of her X-Men Vol. 2 #1 look by illustrator Shunya Yamashita. Jean Grey explodes into action, hovering in the air and using her formidable mental powers to take on the enemies of mutants! Her flying pose looks amazing, with the heroine leaning back on one straight leg and one bent, skillfully propped up by her base. With one hand at her head to help focus her powers, Jean points the other directly at her foes with a sultry gesture. The X-Man’s unique costume is perfectly reproduced from the sexy skin-tight suit to the added details of her pouches, belt, gauntlets, and shoulder pads. Even better, the suit is resplendent in gold and metallic blue with accents in brown and red. Jean’s Bishoujo-styled face is cute and yet determined at the same time, framed by her costume’s headpiece and her fantastic red hair that even utilizes translucent materials! To top it all off, you can display Ms. Grey with or without detachable “Psychic Force” effects parts. Jean Grey stands nearly 8 ½ inches tall (in the current Marvel Bishoujo 1/7th scale) atop an exclusive georama base – a massive smoke cloud from which bursts the X-Jet and a trio of missiles! Jean is the perfect addition to your Marvel Bishoujo collection, and an excellent companion to the Phoenix statues. Available July 2011." Click the headline of the story for more photos. |
