6" Mumm-ra with wings and a general tune up.

As I had mentioned in my "Autopsy" thread:
I am working on giving a spare 6" Mumm-ra wings like his 4" version. These will not be of the spring deploy type. but will have hinges and can be popped off if needed. I also plan to give him some of his missing paint apps back while I am at it. I have already started on giving him a single bladed version of his sword by attaching the gemmed blade with a modded dagger form handle. He also has a version of the claw-shield that has the spider talons removed and I am thinking of making it able to sheath the dagger while I am cleaning it up and putting a new backing on it. When I get finished I will post some pictures of my handiwork. Image being used for the wing referrence: |
At this point I have two sets of parts waiting to be installed.
One set is the hinged more static type wings. The other are of the spring open deploy type. This very much a "six of one half a dozen of another" kind of situation. I will likely Blue-tack both rigs to him and have me and the Mrs. take alook and figure out what looks the most impressive. The wings I have are from these two figures: Mighty Roar Goliath: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ightyRoar1.jpg Power Wing Goliath: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v241/Devora/30425.jpg The one I choose will be painted/dyed accordingly to fit with the new design of Mumm-ra. I have been considering making the attachment point for the wing assembly magnetic so they may be removed or swapped when convenient. I guess we will see. |
IMO I think the top set would be the way to go. The bottom set does have the advantage of easy tattering though.

I posted above. They will be ball-jointed and should be big enough. They are of a semi-flexible material. So I will see how well they take being dyed a darker color. If they laugh it off then I will likely recast them in a harder material that is closer to the hue I will need. |
After a lot of tinkering and a little swallowing of my pride.
I will be using a pair of Purgatori (7") wings like some others have done here. They are the right size, nicely symmetrical, and pretty easy to afford. |
