Thundercats feature on IGN

I saw this on my phone a bit earlier. Really cool look at the Characters, including style sheets.

Nice find. Frontpaged and credited.

crackus 06-17-2011 06:53 PM

awesome!!!

GK Punk 06-17-2011 09:45 PM

Now that I'm done with costuming and cons for the year (I think) I'll have more time to look for stuff like this again. :)

Sounds good to me. :)

 Um, am I the only one who noticed the odd closeup of Wilykit's butt. I mean, she's supposed to be a kid so that's kinda messed up.

Honestly didn't notice that before. It is a little creepy, but I'm sure their intention with it was to show the tail connection.

GK Punk 07-08-2011 06:32 PM

It's a style sheet. It's purpose is to show the characters from each direction and the smallest details of their outfits and body designs. It's not "messed up" because it's not meant to be sexual in anyway.

Yeah, that (way better than the way I tried to explain it, lol).

My favorite part of these has got to be the Snarf one where he looks like he's been caught off-guard and is screeching.

Autotrooper 07-09-2011 08:19 PM

Well it still seems gratuitous, plus she's pretty scantily clad for a kid's show. Also, shirtless wilykat!

If that were true, we'd be seeing nudes.

GK Punk 07-09-2011 09:35 PM

The ones posted are clearly just to show the outfits details. If you notice, most of the male characters are shown at least topless. chances are in the original character sheets, the females have the same type of pictures. I'm okay with them editing those out of the ones posted on IGN.

Besides, you ever notice how many times her ass is shown in the original series? Panty shots a plenty. Hell, they are all nude in the first episode! I'm not a fan of her new half shirt. I actually prefer the classic costume.

Not much more, if any more, "scantily clad" than she was in the original show.

Not necessarily. Chances are they do have nudes just for the production team's reference (like GK Punk said). However they're probably going to be wearing these same outfits for the majority of the show, so having multiple poses for reference is essential for a hand-drawn style of cartoon.

GK Punk 07-09-2011 09:50 PM

I'm still hoping they make plushies of the kittens. The two of them are way too adorable in this show.

That's a great idea. I'm hoping they at least make a modern Snarf plush at some point.

GK Punk 07-09-2011 09:56 PM

Yeah it'd really be a shame if they didn't make at least Snarf. His new design is perfect for it.

Autotrooper 07-09-2011 11:20 PM

Snarf is freakin' adorable!

Yeah, it wouldn't be difficult to make him as a plush, and he wouldn't be hard to market or sell. Stuffed animals sell extremely well, even these days.

That he is. I've never been a cat lover, but if they could ever find a way to bread a cat that looked like Snarf's new design, I would absolutely have to have one as a pet (same goes for a breed of house cat that has the stripes and coloration of a tiger). It'll probably never happen, but there's no harm in dreaming, right? lol...

GK Punk 07-18-2011 07:16 PM

In reference to that Wilykit picture where we see her panties and how her tail connects to her body and why we don't see images like that for the other characters, I'd like to point out this image of Cheetara's style sheet (Which was cut from the one on IGN.)

So I think it's as I said. We saw edited Character sheets with things like that toned down.

Autotrooper 07-24-2011 08:23 PM

Woah where the hell did you get those gk???!!

Balgus82 07-24-2011 08:48 PM

got them from here. ThunderCats to Appear at San Diego Comic-Con Before Cartoon Network Premiere - Los Angeles Art - Style Council

Thundara 07-24-2011 09:01 PM

I am really liking the new art direction! I think I'm the minority there though. My kids love Snarf and they've only seen short clips so far. He doesn't talk in this one, right?

Autotrooper 07-26-2011 07:26 PM

Woah, that is just messed up.

While I wasn't too fond of it at first, it's grown on me greatly, and I really like the direction they're taking the new show in. Should be great to finally see a full episode.

From what I know, he doesn't "talk", but he still communicates with Lion-O. Much like real cats do.

Thundara 07-26-2011 08:46 PM

I'm so excited for this it's rubbing off on my youngest son, we were getting slurpees today and he was holding the straws while we waited in line and he started saying THUNDER THUNDER THUNDER! I was waiting for the payoff but he never got to it, ah well he's got time he's only 2.
