What all is coming out in the new Classics line?
All I have seen so far has been Tigra & Lion-O. Any word of any other characters so far?
|
Currently, those are the only 2 revealed. Probably won't hear anything else until San Diego Comic-Con 2011.
|
I hope we get some villains in the next wave

I would just want the main guys both good and bad. Anything after that is just icing on the cake.
|
I'm looking forward to the inevitable Panthro figure they do. He's the only must-have for me. Though a mummy Mumm-Ra w/Ma-Mutt would be cool, and probably something I would get.
|
I hope we get more than 2 per wave after Lion-o and Tygra. 4 per wave would be more like it

It's unlikely to happen, but a BAF of some kind would be interesting. Though if they were going to do that, I'm sure they would have started it with the first wave (kinda like how the GLMM's are). |
It's likely that I will be buying them online and with having to pay for postage each time I think it would be better to have larger waves because that way I wouldn't have to order and pay postage costs as frequently. Plus, if we have to wait a while in between waves it's going to take ages to get all the main characters at two per wave.

So no other Classics were revealed at SDCC right? Didn't see any news or pics anywhere.

Even if they had Lion-O and Tygra on display, I wouldn't have expected them to have put-out any more with them. From what the guy at Toy Fair said, they'll be the only two released this year.
|
Well, I hope they don't give us Lion-O & Tygra and then quit!

Agreed. It would have definitely been nice to have had Mumm-Ra in the first wave rather than Tygra. If it continues on for a good while, like I hope it does, than no issue, but for all we know this first wave could be the one and only wave. I'm confident they'll sell well, but there's always part of me that'll worry a bit. I hope that, since there's only one wave set for this year, that they've already got a couple of waves planned out for next year.
|
I was just thinking that maybe they haven't done a classic Mumm-Ra yet because it would have required more effort to make him and they wanted to see how successful the line would be before doing it. Can you imagine the detail on a classic Mumm-Ra figure? Also, they probably thought they'd make us wait for Mumm-Ra so that we'd remain interested in what's coming next.
|
I think once they see the money rolling in for these figures, which are excellent, they'll keep making as many as they can.

Yeah I was really bummed to see no new figures at SDCC. We didn't even see anything new for the new Thundercats line.
|
I can't see Bandai only releasing Lion-O & Tigra in the Classics line. Since this is a collectors line, they HAVE to know that collectors want ALL of the Thundercats right?
Then again, toy companies have shocked me with how dumb they can be before. |

I can see Bandai sticking to a 2 figure wave per "season" (Bandai usually does spring and fall assortments, so 4 per year at best), but I really don't see the 6" or 8" lines having very long legs at retail. Not with Classics running $15 a pop at retail. |

I won't buy any of them until Cheetara is *IN STORES*. No Cheetara=no interest. It would totally suck if I got stuck with Lion-O & Tygra & that's it. |

The Classics line must continue. They are the only ones I am interested in. But, it's going to be a difficult time because of their 8" size and price. They are too big for the vehicles, and there will likely be no Classics-scaled vehicles because they would obviously be huge and expensive. Time and time again, it has been proven at retail that toy lines DIE when multiple scales of the same characters are released all at once. It would have been nice to have 2011 and Classics figures and vehicles all in 4" scale so they could interact for the kiddos. I'll buy the Classics for as long as I can, but if Lion-O and Tygra are it, I agree that there is really no reason to keep the figures around.

Hey all found some semi good news on a site,
Toy Fair In-Depth, Part Four: The 8″ Classic Figures | THUNDERCATSNOW.COM | ThunderCats News and Information says, •Brehan Maul was quick to note that the classic figures are its own entity, and that fans will not be left hanging after the initial 2 figures release this year. |
Thanks for sharing the link Quick16tt. I find these two points very comforting:

Not a problem at all Ravenxl7. One thing is for sure if these classics sell really well then the sky is the limit for them. I would bet if they made a killing on the classics we would see some cat's lair's and other old remakes...
