TFW2005 will be holding it's first ever official "Member Meet Up" on October 8th, 2011 (that isn't attached to a Botcon, that is :)). This will be on a Saturday night, the night before New Jersey Collectors Con in south New Jersey. It will take place at RED HOT & BLUE and starts at 8 PM. It is free for everyone, adults over 21 only (it is a bar). A live Blues band will be playing, the place serves food and it is a full service bar.

There will be door prizes given away throughout the night as well, in both Transformers and G.I. Joe flavors. Speaking of Joe, this isn't just for TFW2005, but the whole 2005 family, so HissTank and Toyark regulars will be in attendance too.

Also running during the party, for those that want to float around while drinking, will be the premiere screening of a new G.I. Joe fan film, "Operation Retrieval". It will be on continuous loop all night in an area where you can hear it. You can see a trailer for it after the break.

So, if you are in the New York, New Jersey, Philly areas, try and come down the night before NJCC and hang out with the TFW2005 crew. It would be great to put faces to all those names! If it works out, we'll do more!

New Jersey Collectors Con takes place the next day, Sunday October 9th, 2011, in Cherry Hill New Jersey. Check the website for details.

See you all there!

There is a lot of buzz about the New York Comic Convention coming up, especially in regards to Hasbro's involvement, both as being a newcomer to the convention as well as being a sponsor of the convention itself. Much speculation continues as to just exactly what Hasbro will unveil as well.

Tonight, we get our first glimpse into to some offerings from Hasbro with some exclusives offered at the convention. The first thing shown are two cups from the game Cuponk Hasbro introduced last year. The cups offered at the convention feature the classic Generation One characters none other than Optimus Prime and Megatron. You can view both of them by checking out the attached image after the jump.

While San Diego Comic Con offered an Optimus Prime-themed NERF blaster, Hasbro follows suit with another such blaster (labeled as the "NERF N-Strike Barricade RV-10 Blaster"), this time featuring the fan-favorite Bumblebee!

Also, much like SDCC, if you find yourself wanting these exclusives but can't make it to the convention, Hasbro will be offering a limited quantity of the exclusives at HasbroToyShop.com the week of October 17.

A recent exclusive item for Tomica shareholders was this cool Transformers Dark of the Moon themed Tomica truck. Rather than being based on an existing character, it's a truck advertising Transformers Dark of the Moon, with the logo on the air vane and on the sides, with a picture of Optimus Prime himself. It's rather cool in a 1970's Corgi Marvel Comics Truck kind of way.

Read on and check out the image, coming to you via this recent Yahoo Japan Auction.

E-Hobby have updated their page for Masterpiece Black Rodimus Convoy with a couple of preview pages for the comic. The comic depicts a showdown between the two Rodimuses (Rodimi?), and features some deliciously evil looking artwork for the Destron Black Rodimus. Just check out the closeup on his face in the second image.

Another new Transformers item is gracing store shelves. This time it's a bonus value set featuring the Dark of the Moon Cyberverse Autobot Ark with a pack in Cyberverse Commander Sentinel Prime - The Autobot ship with the Autobot who was found within it! The set was spotted at Target, where it is slated to be an exclusive. It's priced at $29.99, a mere $5 more than the standard release so a nett saving of $5 on buying the Ark and Sentinel individually. Well worth it!

Info from the United States Patent and Trademark Office tells us that Hasbro has recently renewed the trademark titles Tankor and Buzzsaw. From what Shadow told us few days ago, we are to see a Buzzsaw figure based on Transformers: Dark of the Moon Deluxe Laserbeak. Now, the question of the hour is… Are we to see a Tankor figure soon as well? Perhaps based on the recent Generations Warpath?

You can take a look at the Trademark Documents by visiting the links below:

Transformers Exiles, the second book by author Alex Irvine chronicling the early days of the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons, is out today! This book is the sequel to Transformers Exodus, which laid the groundwork for the new aligned continuity origin of Transformers Prime. Transformers Exiles carries on the saga, and promises to delve deeper into the mysteries of the original 13 Transformers, including Nexus, Solus and Vector Prime.

The epic battles between Optimus Prime and Megatron have long thrilled Transformers fans. But these two giants weren’t always great leaders and bitter foes. This new novel continues the electrifying saga that started with Transformers: Exodus, unveiling the origins of the conflict—the explosive events that unfolded before Optimus and Megatron arrived Earthside, forever altering the destiny of their kind.

Once allies, Optimus and Megatron are now enemies in a civil war. To prevent Cybertron from falling into Megatron’s hands, Optimus jettisons the planet’s heart, the AllSpark, into space, then sets out to find it with Megatron hot on his heels. Optimus is determined to defeat Megatron, bring the AllSpark home, and restore Cybertron to its former glory.

But a saboteur lurks aboard Optimus’s spaceship, and ahead lie lost colonies, some of them hostile. Optimus needs help of the highest caliber, but from whom? Heroes such as Solus, Nexus, and Vector Prime are just names from make-believe stories of long ago. Or are they? Maybe it’s time for Optimus Prime to find out. Maybe it’s the only chance he has to vanquish mighty Megatron.

Today, October 4, marks another major release in the Transformers media calendar - because today is the day that Shout! Factory's Beast Wars Season 2 and 3 boxed set is released. Own the episodes that defined the show for a generation of Transformers fans, episodes such as Code of Hero, The Agenda, and the grand finale Nemesis, with the final episode penned by legendary Transformers writer Simon Furman. If you have never seen Beast Wars, what are you waiting for? This show was awesome back in the 90s and has stood the test of time as one of the very best Transformers shows ever made.

I leave you now with a defining quote from Hall of Fame 2010 fan's choice winner, Dinobot:

Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly, the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly. The rest... is silence.

Universal Studios Singapore have released another new image of the pre-show area from their version of Transformers the Ride. This is the area where you queue up before going on the ride. Judging by the monitors on the wall, there might be some kind of pre-ride show (such as Optimus Prime or Major Lennox briefing guests about what they are about to experience?). The Transformers the Ride blog refers to this as the NEST Orientation Room.

You've been watching the great programming created by Hasbro for quite a while with such favorite shows as Transformers: Prime, right! Well, now you will be able to see many of your favorite programs in a really cool promotion by the Hub where select airlines will air Transformers: Prime and several other shows in-flight!

The news also carefully notes the continued international expansion by Hasbro and its many brands' entertainment value with this promotion of the Hub. Also, this new promotion details the recent push to be more and more active in the creative development of Hasbro Studios, both alongside its partner (the Discovery Channel) with the Hub, but also internationally on its own. As Hasbro's brands continue to grow more and more, we here at TFW2005.com are excited about yet another step in Hasbro's entertainment ventures!

Thanks to (as usual) Box Office Mojo, we now know that Dark of the Moon has passed up yet another milestone, beating out the final Lord of the Rings movie and has become the Fourth Highest-Grossing Movie of All-Time* with a total of $1,119,112,943.

As the run of the movie begins to reach it's end worldwide as the home release spreads through the various regions and territories, this is probably the highest the movie's theatrical totals will hit. Regardless of how one may feel about the movies, one cannot deny that the trilogy not only made cinema history, but also significantly helped Hasbro and the Transformers brand as well as the fandom itself.

CM's Corp have updated their homepage with some new information and prototype images of their Guttu Kurru series Minerva. Minerva was one of three teens to join the Autobots in the Masterforce series as Headmaster Juniors. Minerva is known for her great compassion and being the level headed one out of the trio of herself, Cab and Shuta. This licensed figure from CMs represents Minerva in her exosuit, and comes with three different facial expressions plus her helmet (the final version presumably will have a clear visor over the eyes).

Click on the link above to check out the images of this fully licensed figure from CMs. According to the page, the figure will stand 185mm tall and be released sometime in 2012. Also in the Guttu Kurru series from Masterforce will be a figure of Ginrai - we eagerly anticipate our first look at him!

Hasbro is getting ready for their first New York Comic Con, which is just around the corner. Kreon Optimus Prime and Bumblebee decided to do some site-seeing before the convention and here they are in Manhattan.

Hasbro’s Transformers Facebook Page is telling everyone that they’ll be uploading more Adventures of Kre-O Optimus Prime and Bumblebee (I never thought I’d say this but… man, those two are adorable! Transformers: More Than Meets The Cuteness). Images after the jump.

Oh, nearly forgot to tell you all: Stay tuned with TFW2005 and its sister sites for our coverage of New York Comic Con 2011, next weekend. As always... we will bring you the best coverage around!

It's time for another TFW Gallery update! After last week's blitz of movie galleries, I thought I'd highlight something for the non-Movie fans, and SydneyY shot the perfect thing. Here for your enjoyment is a gallery of Transformers United Laser Optimus Prime, the Japanese release of Reveal the Shield Generation 2 Optimus Prime. United Laser Optimus Prime makes a few changes to the deco, going for straight-up red and black in truck mode, and the clear plastic is changed up from orange to blue, giving Optimus blue eyes and windows - and a nice blue sword to boot.

Check out SydneyY's gallery of the toy we all want redecoed in black and teal and named Scourge (with a Takara-Tomy release named Black Convoy for the fans of the Car Robots incarnation) by clicking on the link below:

For comparison, check out this gallery of the US version, also by SydneyY:

2005 Board member SydneyY has been gratious enough to, once again, use his magical translating abilities and share with us some interviews with TakaraTomy's staff. The original of this article was published in Figure-Oh magazine #162, but thanks to Syd you can now read the article and get a glimpse into the minds of the TakaraTomy design team.

Each staff member was asked the same seven questions in the article:
  • What was your first encounter of "Transformers", or any childhood memory of robot series?
  • Did you work on other series beside Transformers in the past, if so, what are they?
  • What is the most important for you when you work on Transformers toy designs or development?
  • Favorite "Dark of The Moon" item you developed?
  • Favorite items you developed in the past series?
  • What kind of Transformers do you hope to develop in the future?
  • Message for fans, please
Check out all of their answers after the break!

For our next Transformers Toy Galleries update, we bring you Reveal the Shield Lugnut. Lugnut was one of the four Voyagers in this Classics subline, and another of Derrick J Wyatt's Transformers Animated creations who have been adopted into the mainstream. Reveal the Shield Lugnut brings a lot to the table - he's a very imposing, massive looking Decepticon, with loads of 3mm clip weapon points, and spring loaded punches. All in all, he's a fun toy and it's a pity he saw such limited distribution.

Click on the link below to check out the gallery:

Reveal the Shield Lugnut Gallery

Lugnut was also released as a part of Transformers United. United Lugnut sported a very different deco to his Reveal the Shield counterpart. Check out our gallery of United Lugnut here by way of comparison:

Thanks to ACToys we have a teaser image and some information regarding what may be a 3rd party battle damaged Unicron head. This will be coming via new 3rd party group, DR. WU, who is also responsible for the upcoming non-transforming pvc Sharkticons. According to the post this Unicron head will come with a transparent base so it can look like it's floating around. It will also be able to replace the head on the Armada Unicron mold.

New York Comic Con 2011 is happening pretty soon; in fact we are only 3 days away from it. As we informed you before, lots of Transformers events are happening and some of the big names are attending the convention too.

Among those who are attending, Matt Tieger; Game Director of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is sure to be bombarded with questions after the recent reveal of the upcoming game. Official Transformers Video Game Facebook Page announces that…

"Matt Tieger, Game Director of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron will be headed to New York Comic Con this week for a panel discussion with Hasbro. Stop by the Activision booth if you are attending."

You can visit Booth 738 for all the upcoming Activision goodies including Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Prototype 2, Goldeneye 007: Reloaded and HERO HQ (Marvel) games and more. Then you can participate for the Hasbro Transformers Panel on Saturday, 15th October from 12:15 pm to 1:15 pm to hear the details from Matt Tieger himself.

People from the Transformers Collectors’ Club are on their way to the convention. On the official Twitter page they wrote…”NYCC... Here we come! http://www.transformersclub.com/”. And also, they left more details on their Official Website:

"Starting this Thursday, the Transformers Collectors' Club will be setting up shop alongside artist Dan Khanna for the 2011 New York Comic-Con. If you are at the show, be sure to stop by booth C7 and say hello! There will be all kinds of cool comic and art related items for sale at the table, so be sure to check us out! And of course, if you are interested in joining the TCC, there will be someone on hand to get you set up with a membership."

Also, Transformers Artist Marcelo Matere will be there too. On his Blog he wrote… “This is my first time! I will be at Artist Alley, and my table is C6. I will have some prints, some comics ( Incentive Covers) , sketchcards, small colors sketches and a few copies of my 2011 sketchbook.”.

And don't forget to say "Hi!" to Kre-O Optimus Prime and Bumblebee.

You can keep in touch with everything happening by logging into TFW2005 and its sister sites; HISSTANK, THUNDERCATS and TOYARK this weekend.

TFW2005 Boards Member bigkid24 tells us that he has received information regarding upcoming Transformers: United figures.

Surprisingly, the list contains names belonging to the “Beast Era”. This news comes not too long after TFW2005 finding out Hasbro has applied to renew the trademark Tankor, who is another Beast Machines character.

Windcharger and Wipe-Out are both listed. This may very well be a two pack much like the United Frenzy & Rumble duo.

Take a look at the list of figures, after the jump.
